It Looks Bad For Chuck

SFN will have a lot more scoop and analysis regarding the “Chuck Amato Situation” before tomorrow’s football game. Until then, we thought that we would direct your attention to Dave Glenn’s blog entry today.

“I’ve been around this university for a long, long time,” a former BOT member told the ACC Sports Journal. “I know the decision-makers, I know the trustees, and I know many other (N.C. State) people, and it is almost impossible to find anyone of influence who is standing in support of Chuck Amato right now. To my knowledge, among those folks, there is absolutely zero support for keeping him.”

If the rumor about Fowler being dumped are true (HOPEFULLY!!), does anyone have a short list of AD’s?? Is there any chance that Terry Holland might wander over to Raleigh??

  2. Great Dane Guy 11/25/2006 at 3:22 PM #

My guess would be Bobby Purcell to AD. It could be announced on the same day. I don’t know who would replace him at the WPC.

Some of us will be tailgating at 3:00. Will there be an update before then?
    Thanks

Roman Gabriel as AD and Bill Cowher as HC! Na, never will happen! As much as I hate it for Chuck, it’s time for a change. I have absolutely no second thoughts about Fowler though! Dump, the SOB, he’s been nothing but a disaster for N C State.

If Fowler needs another sign, Duke already has 24 in the first half against Carolina. How much worse can it be…Duke can score 24 in the first half and we can’t in a single game!

what about the head guy from TCU? Gary Patterson. four 10-win seasons in six years.

    ^^AGREED! (times millions!)

As far as overall accomplishments and the attitudes of the people that they are reponsible for, I’ll say this, if there was a choice between one more year of Chuck Amato, and getting rid of Lee Fowler, it would be “Later Lee” in my book.

we should all be thankful we did not have to play Dook! Some folks ask, “Could it get any worse?” That would have done it, for sure!

Also, I’m with redfred2 . . . replacing Fowler is even more important than dealing with CTC!

    Go Pack!!!

    >>>DUKE>>THIRTY EIGHT POINTS>>NINE POINTS

So Duke scored 38 points on UNC. Does that unofficially make us the worst team in the ACC? Sure we have three more wins, but could we have beaten the Blue Devils this year? In a way I am glad for once we did not have to find out…

  13. redfred2 11/25/2006 at 5:35 PM #

Actually, Duke scored 43 and lost by 1.

If I was Chuck, I don’t know how I could my hands off of my much trusted offensive coordinator right about now.

Bill Brill has been writing about Duke Sports since the day after he invented the wheel. He was on the Adam Gold show complaining that Duke didn’t have a shot at State this year.

Shows you how much respect our team has.

^We want them because we desperately need any conference win we can get, and they want us because we are someone they think they can beat.

And we’re talking about the Duke FOOTBALL team. That’s pitiful.

Thanks, good coach, bottom line and enough said. I remember watching Ga. Southern and my recolection was not one of a all out passing attack but a more staight set, I formation. Not splitting hairs, what he has done everywhere he’s gone is win, period.

  17. RAWFS 11/25/2006 at 6:04 PM #

Fred, if Duke scored 44 on us, they’d win by at least three TDs. Since we can’t score more than 23 points, 44 would be insurmountable.

And please don’t say that they couldn’t beat us this year. We lost to a team that previously had been unable to beat D1 competition, we also failed to score a TD against a team that allowed 313 points prior to playing us. In short, we made UNC look good, which we have done to too many teams the past few years.

  18. highstick 11/25/2006 at 6:14 PM #

How can a Duke team score that many points against Carolina and we can’t score squat against Carolina! Makes State’s offense look worse than pathetic!

  19. redfred2 11/25/2006 at 6:16 PM #

I can see the players fighting to break Chuck Amato’s death grip on Trestman’s throat, in the pregame meeting tonight.

  20. Woof Wolf 11/25/2006 at 6:48 PM #

I think at this point the players would probably let them settle it themselves. After all the problem, according to the experts, has been lack of execution.

  21. justaguy 11/25/2006 at 7:31 PM #

For the purposes of tonight’s game, I consider CTC a senior. G’bye Chuck. Thanks for the memories. Hope you go out with a win.

My God is there a worse 4 year starting QB in the nation than Reggie Ball?

Adam Gold is reporting the following on the 850 blog:

“…reports from press row indicated that NC State’s assistant coaches were informed prior to tonight’s game (Friday?) that Chuck Amato would not be retained. ”
