Memphis Could Have Avoided This Mess

In most cases if John Calipari were to stay quiet for this long, someone might want to shove a cell phone under his nose to see if he showed any signs of life.

This is different. There can be only two reasons why he has maintained public silence for such a long period:

1) He’s seriously considering becoming the head coach at NC State, but it’s a tough decision because of the great team he’d be leaving behind;

2) He’s torturing the Memphis administration with a long wait because certain people were foolish enough to believe he couldn’t/wouldn’t leave for another job.

    Guys, you gotta remember we’re still dealing with Jethro. Don’t give him too much credit too soon! That’s why I’m developing an ulcer waiting for an answer.

    My vote if Cal turns us down, we fire Fowler and start all over and get “it right this time”!

    I hate to be negative, but if he was going to come, it would have been anounced today, or some good news would have come out. Cal took the extra step that barns didn’t have to by coming here and showing Memphis that he is for real about leaving, expect in the next day or so to hear something about him not coming

    Send me to Memphis. I garauntee he’ll be coming back to Raleigh. The easy way, or the hard way.

    who that stupid memphis boy, that nothing he should see what Dean and Roy gave us and the boys at UNC, we had better cars than that. Heck McCants have his own apartment, we put up his mom, and we covered up his STD. our players drive BMW’s and Mercedes. agents on campus all the time, no one care we control media, we can even accuse Ky and everyone of recruiting violations when we lose recruits and media believes us. burp!

    I hate to say it but we should start giving up on Cal and move on. It is starting to look obvious State got played to get himself and his staff more money.

    I’m ready for a B-list coach and see how it works for a couple years. At least I don’t have to see that “princeton-style” offense anymore. That alone makes it worth the trouble.

    If we must move no, I recommend James J. Dillon for our next head coach. He won titles with every version of the team he managed.

    Any “Old School” takers out there?

    Being a State fan gives me about 2 days of real joy per year, if that. The other 363 days are filled with that very same bad feeling. Just when you think you see the light…….

    The longer this goes on …. the worse it is I fear.

  24. NCSU4LIFE 04/11/2006 at 4:51 PM #

    Damn all this negativity on the blog. Don’t jump your guns yet and say, “he is not coming”, “we need to move on”. You have to understand Calipari is making a BIG decision. Both schools should be patient. Nothing is set in stone yet. I still expect him to be on the NCSU bench next year in Raleigh.
