    From ESPN Andy Katz:

    “A source at NC State confirmed to ESPN.com that Calipari and his staff were in Raleigh late Monday. An offer is on the table and Calipari will likely decide within the next two days if he will accept the job.”

    Two more days of this! I’ve got a meeting at 9:00. I want a new coach by the time I get back!

    For the past 4 days at work not 1 single UNX fan has said a word to me. I work with a load of Big East fans too. They are tight lipped as well. They hate to see us prosper.

    Don’t think it’s going to drag on 2 more days. From what I heard on the radio this morning, they expect an announcement today.

    I don’t think he would get on a plane & visit with his staff & then say no. The fact there is bad blood between him and the AD at Memphis seems to make this sound more certain to me.

    my unc buddy who sits next to me at work hasn’t said jack squat to me this AM. he’s crapping in his pants that we might get Cal. in fact, most of the Tar Holes that I know haven’t said much, which is atypical for a hole. I’ve heard on 1090 this AM that Taylor feels Cal is coming and Mike Decorsi from the Sporting News, who has known Cal for 20+ years feels he’ll take the deal at State because of the way Memphis has handled ths situation.

    hey Wilmington, I heard on the radio that y’alls paper is doing a great job covering the State coaching search and wondered what the latest was from down there? Our “wonderful” Ooze and Disturber only has a little burb on it, which shows the paper could give two sh*ts about State. When UNC courted Roy, it was front page news.

    Andrew Jones (UNC Grad) is the ACC sportswriter down here, and the sports editor is our old buddy from the Durham Herald-Sun Neil Amato. They’ve got “Calipari gets the job offer” as the secondary headline on the front page of sports this morning. The main article is on Martin Gerber….

    You can read it online at http://www.wilmingtonstar.com if you want. They’ve done an alright job, but I wasn’t very happy with their coverage DURING the basketball season.

    So here’s a theory, roughly 24 -36 hours after Calipari accepts, the unc/duke lovin’ media will undergo an intensive effort to dig up as much dirt as possible on Cal…

    you better believe it. The faculty and staff of NC State need to stick by this hire, unlike the way they handled the pressure in the 80’s….

    and I agree booman, the Observer is absolutely terrible. The only paper I read in clt is Rhino Times, but doesn’t really cover anything other than local politics

    Thanks Wilmington for the updates.. I agree with cfpack that the N & O and all the unc grads on staff will slam Cal if he accepts because what else do those partial dudes have to do but slam State at evey turn.

    Hopefully some of the State fans on staff at the N&O will start to assert themselves more and stick up for us after Cal is hired.
