NC State’s Favorite Coach Advances To Sweet 16 (Again)

I can’t figure out which headline to run with my post game comments. Perhaps you have a suggestion different than these?

Barnes Loves Sendek The Way Roy and K Do

Is Ames, Iowa a long trip from Dallas?

  2. ushum 03/19/2006 at 7:07 PM #

behind the Barnes is pretty good…

  3. VaWolf82 03/19/2006 at 7:07 PM #

Is it time for me to update the entry I did called “Finishing Strong”? The only way to have made the ending of this season any worse would have been for Cal to have blown State out. Oh well….time for baseball.

  4. vtpackfan 03/19/2006 at 7:12 PM #

Think “behind the Barnes” wins on originality, but in the end give it to “..loves Sendek the way Roy and K do”. It just ties the whole room together.

Jesse – did you not see a marked difference in how we attacked the basket in the second half? We went back into passive mode after cutting a 15-point deficit to 5 with an attacking style.

  6. James 03/19/2006 at 7:12 PM #

^ I’ve heard the same thing for 10 years now. Enough is enough.

  7. Jeff 03/19/2006 at 7:15 PM #

jesse obviouly missed the part about stupidity in this entry today

look if you don’t know anything about basketball don’t act like you do…

I want Herb’s post game comments!!!! They put RB on ESPN news. Where is Herb?

  11. Matt E. 03/19/2006 at 7:33 PM #

ushum – That’s a statement that could go for about 95% of State fans IMHO, and for football too.

  12. beowolf 03/19/2006 at 7:39 PM #

Look, y’all, you need to see the BIG PICTURE. Two big complaints about Herb is (1) his teams don’t play up-tempo offense and (2) he doesn’t make halftime adjustments. Well, in this loss HE DID THAT.

It’s kinda unfortunate he made the halftime adjustment AWAY from the up-tempo offense, but hey, you know, it’s progress, it’s progress, it’s progress, it’s progress …

    Worst.
    Coaching.
    Ever.

Fells+Grant+Bennerman=Quick strike offense that gets us back in the game.

So of course, the first two aren’t in there to start the second half, and Texas stretches the lead out again.

My God, Herb, Evtimov was hurt, Atsur totally ineffective. Why play these guys?

Do you have any doubt that K, Jay Wright, Roy, or any other good coach would have called a timeout to blast Bethel for poor shot selection after that stretch of two 30 footers?

If you can’t see that the second half was poorly coached…I really can’t help you.

Please, Lord. Let this be the end.

beo: do you still have that top 10 excuses you don’t want to hear next year. think you wrote it 8 years ago.

  15. ushum 03/19/2006 at 7:58 PM #

    that list is classic…

  16. vtpackfan 03/19/2006 at 8:00 PM #

Tonight 40% of offense attempted behind the arc.
The guys shot poorly (13%), as oppossed to 60% attempting two pointers. In early May the NCAA commitee revisits the prospect (introduced in ’03)of moving the line back 9″ and widening the lane.

    Beowolf’s Top 10 Excuses

  18. Cardiff Giant 03/19/2006 at 8:08 PM #

I am waiting for the HSSS to acknowledge my prediction from the night of the Cal game:

“Personally, I think Texas will advance and will beat Sendek like a red-headed stepchild. Even Sendek’s patented – and infuriating – habit of pulling out victories just before he has to polish his resume won’t save him here. Save a win, that is.”

    Anyone? Anyone?

  19. beowolf 03/19/2006 at 8:11 PM #

Cardiff, they haven’t even acknowledged that I predicted LAST APRIL that UNC would sweep us this year. Someone started a thread saying that with 7 stars leaving and UNC starting freshmen and sophomores, that Herb would finally get some wins on Roy. I said, on the assumption that COACHING MATTERS, that Roy would sweep us.

  20. Jeff 03/19/2006 at 8:12 PM #

    For the record, we returned

    71% of minutes played
    70% of rebounds
    70% of scoring
    62% of blocked shots
    70% of assists
    75% of steals

from last year…and ADDED CEDRIC SIMMONS to the rotation.

And, we got the exact same seed as we got last year and one game less in the NCAA Tournament

  21. Cardiff Giant 03/19/2006 at 8:14 PM #

“Cardiff, they haven’t even acknowledged that I predicted LAST APRIL that UNC would sweep us this year. ”

We BOTH predicted that – and were mocked for it by the HSSSers.

Well, parity was achieved w/ UNC! Wasn’t that the measure of success desired?

  23. jesse 03/19/2006 at 8:22 PM #

    congrats cardiff and beowolf

  24. BJD95 03/19/2006 at 8:23 PM #

Cardiff – read your “shout out” in the Live Blogging thread.

  25. Cardiff Giant 03/19/2006 at 8:23 PM #

“Well, parity was achieved w/ UNC! Wasn’t that the measure of success desired?”

    8-38

    0-6

0-2 against Roy’s least talented team ever.

    Parity, my boot.
