Lowe: ‘NC State fans will be at their finest’

A subset of an entire new generation of NC State fans are going to get the opportunity to enjoy a taste of “the good old days” when NC State plays host to Marist on Friday night on Kay Yow Court in Reynolds Coliseum!!

Of course…the real question becomes – does NC State roll out a floor that includes the Men’s “Block S’ at half court or will the only option be the women’s version that includes the strutting wolf.

I am working hard to get to Raleigh tonight so that I can take my wife to her first (and probably last) experience in Reynolds. When I saw the comments that Coach Lowe shared on Thursday I immediately emailed them home so that she starts to understand that I don’t just make this stuff up!

“We wanted to get home, get a good day’s rest, and play in front of our crowd. I’m just glad they worked it out that we’ll be able to play at Reynolds. It’s sold out, it’s going to be loud… they have never been in an environment like they are going to be in tomorrow. I can almost guarantee you that. These NC State fans will be at their finest in Reynolds. It’s just a different atmosphere.”

Wish I could be there. I miss Reynolds. I’ll be watching on the U instead. Go Pack!

Now that Reynolds is sold out, the administsration should put the game up on the big screen at Carter Findley Stadium. Bet they could nearly fill it.

ESPN Classic is showing crap tonight, why don’t they just carry the game on their too? And ESPN has figure skating. Is anyone here recording it using XP Media Center and willing to share? (as in share the file for download tomorrow)

  5. branjawn 03/16/2007 at 7:14 AM #

Oh, I would go to the sports bar (yes, THE as in one) but we’re supposed to get 6-10 inches of snow tonight here. :o\

Yes, back to the Fox and Hound for me tonight too. I hope I can get a big screen during the NCAA though….at least I don’t have to compete with UNC fans. I sent Time Warner another email saying how stupid this line in the sand regarding ESPNU and NFL Network are……not that it will do any good.

By the way Branjawn, with a Pack Pass from GOPACK you can view the game tomorrow from a link. It’s really about the only good thing that crappy website provides…..and as soon as the basketball season is over I cancel my subscription until next year.

one00, camped out? What is that? Oh yeah, that is what we used to do when we were in school too. Those were the good old days when we would overstuff 12,400 seat reynolds with about 10,000 people. Yeah, you read that right – funny discussion the other day in a thread. Capacity listed at 12,400 but if you put 10K in there we were overflowing everywhere. Those were the good old days.

Heard from a good source, that it seats about 8400 now. It will still be ROCKIN’ tonight!

  9. CaptainCraptacular 03/16/2007 at 8:51 AM #

Pack Pass has the game with live video? or replay on saturday?

  10. Spin Wolf 03/16/2007 at 8:57 AM #

I wonder what the noise difference will be since we’ve cut out roughly a quarter of the seats?

Also, does anyone know how the new seating is configured? Do they still put people in the upstairs endzones, even though the lower bleachers don’t go back that far? Just curious…..

am I the only one who likes the strutting wolf better?!

“Lowe has recently received congratulatory calls from friends and people in the basketball fraternity impressed by his team and his coaching. Kevin McHale, Flip Saunders, Mike Fratello and Bernie Bickerstaff are among the NBA folks who have contacted him.”

that is from the N&O why would Kevin McHale be calling Sid?

I don’t care what court we play on. In fact I think it is appropriate to play on the women’s court so that we can pay honor to the woman who has done so much for this university and is doing so. While the men do play on on a court bearing the Block ‘S’ we are playing in the building the currently host the women’s banners. If they didnt’ change it for the legacy game, I don’t see why they would change the floor for tonights game. I am sure it would cost a lot of money to do so anyway.

plus the wolf just LOOKS better.

    I love it.

    looks more traditional.

“that is from the N&O why would Kevin McHale be calling Sid?”

Kevin McHale was Sid’s boss when he was an assistant wil the Minnesota T’wolves.

I’m jealous of the kids. But I’ve been to many an raucous Reynolds game, leaving with ears ringing for hours afterward.

As I told the intern at my office, a State student going to his first Reynolds contest, YOU ARE IN FOR A TREAT.

  17. GoldenChain 03/16/2007 at 10:01 AM #

My question is this: Now that the only banners are the womens, will the make an effort to get at least the NCAA ones up for this game?
I am quite certain it won’t be the old court w/block S because a piece of it is hanging on the wall here beside me!lol
BTW I did attend the last official win in Wm Neal Reynolds before moving to the RBC, it was an NIT win over Providence.

  18. PapaJohn 03/16/2007 at 10:14 AM #

Let’s not forget there will be someone on the other end of the court tonight. We (me included) are thinking we’ll wax these guys, but they have some weapons. Their PG leads the nation in assists and is a finalist for the Bob Cousy award for best guard. They start three seniors and two juniors. They have two guys who shoot 40% from the arc. They are 14th nationally in 3 pointers per game. The Whittington kid laid 31 on OK State.
We have played no common schools. It looks like Wright State is the only NCAA school they played and they lost by 10. But you have to have some skills to win 25 games.
I think we should take them, especially in the ‘house that Case built’, but 3 point shooters and good guards give us trouble. And with that experienced leadership, I think we’ll have a game on our hands.
GO PACK!! I’ll be finding some place w/ TV coverage.

Leave the Strutting Wolf. It’s Kay Yow Court at Reynolds Coliseum after all.

  20. beowolf 03/16/2007 at 10:39 AM #

I agree, PapaJohn. This team is no slouch. We’ll NEED the Reynolds sixth man effect working.

  21. GoldenChain 03/16/2007 at 10:40 AM #

I think one of their kids leads the nation with 12 3pters.

  22. GoldenChain 03/16/2007 at 10:40 AM #

    Tat’s 123 X 3’s.

  23. packbackr04 03/16/2007 at 10:56 AM #

o thats right Harris^^^ i forgot about his stint at the twolves. as long as the NBA isnt poaching our guy

  24. tcthdi-tgsf-twhwtnc 03/16/2007 at 12:18 PM #

State’s downfall began with the removal of the rubber court for the one the Les played on in the 60’s. What a mistake that was.

  25. LRM 03/16/2007 at 12:19 PM #

If the NBA “poaches” our guy, then nothing Sid said about coaching here was genuine. Let him go.

I like Sid; I think we got the right guy and we have some really good years ahead with him leading. But the fact is, it’s only been one year. We thought Herb was the man in ’98 and Chuck was the man after ’02.

I’m in the minority here, I’m sure, but let’s be cautiously optimistic. We’re all high on emotion from a remarkable ending to the season and a renewed hope.

I think it’s a really BAD idea to start “rewarding” 5-11 seasons with megabucks for long-term contracts.
