A friend of mine passed along a link to this interesting site. If college football chose to crown it’s champ like boxing (really, is that any more ridiculous than the BCS “mythical national championship” or just freaking voting on it, like for homecoming queen?), NC State would have briefly held the title in 1999 (toggle down to view our reign), after toppling Texas in a classic 12-round battle.
