I have to agree that bringing Case and Sloan into a comparison with today is invalid. Apples and oranges.

Sadly, we will probably never have another coach as good as V leading our program.

Jacoby Brisset was exactly what this young team needed for the first two “real years” of the Dave Doeren era at NC State. He is upbeat, mature, and a very good leader. His “red shirt year” he was a team leader running the scout team. I’m sorry he’s banged up and that we are not having a great senior year for him. IMO he deserves better.

Several people said before this year started that we could be improved and not have as good a record as last year. Looking at our D-line, RBs, and the skill, athleticism and speed being red shirted this could be true even if it’s hard to translate into a numerical value.

Before you go to the bathroom and celebrate how great Carolina’s D is, consider this: NC State is ranked nationally about 20 places higher nationally than the holes and we are higher ranked in rushing defense than the holes. The holes do out rank us in pass defense. Perhaps the holes being so prolific on offense is making the defense look better than it is. Even if they were better than our D, I don’t want Cheesestix on our campus being the poster boy for “We don’t care how we do it, just win, baby.”

I am pretty sure us playing a high school OOC schedule and BC with a walkon as qb skews that a bit. Our dline does look really good at times but the secondary always seems to eff things up at the worst time possible.

I am still not convinced about the tarholes. Wanna see what they do vs. VT, in Blacksburg, and Beamer’s last game. They dominate that game I guess I can say they are legit. But regardless, we need to win out at home. Speaking of the holes, their improvement has come with the hiring of a new DC. Perhaps DD, should relinquish his loyalties, and makes some changes with his assistants.

Not sure why people keep saying this. Its almost like a form of denial to admit that the holes are legit this season and seemed posed to have a top 20ish program under Fedora. Their defense is incredibly improved and their offense is crushing folks. I have to admit I am kindof looking forward to see them against the Tigers. Interesting match up for sure.

I honest to God wish I knew what we have in coach DD. A part of me sees a tireless recruiter who is making waves then the realist sees the rankings. A part of me sees the moments of a top flight defense and offense and then I see multiple possessions of just utter brain farts. I think in a nutshell DD is probably a good coach but is way too green for a major p-5 conference and by the time he learns he may be too late. Going 3-5 again this year doesnt make 2016 any easier on him. He desperately needs that signature win and this was his last opportunity for it unless he can knock UNC off.

Like I ask of Gott, is giving extensions just part of the collegiate game right now or did Yow jump the gun?

Since I don’t keep track of this stuff as closely as some, could someone here remind me of what his contract was prior (salary, incentives, most importantly, length remaining). I only ask because I’m trying to figure out why now for the extension. If it was coming up soon, I get it so that it’s not a story throughout the season, but if not, do we really feel like we may lose him at this point? The results have been pretty good, but it’s not like we’re hearing his name popping up as one that schools are looking at each off-season.

Don’t mean to imply any dissatisfaction with our team or otherwise. Just curious to the thought process. We’ve had pretty good talent and recruiting for a little while, and I guess I just get nervous with contracts that look like we can’t get out if we need to, if we’ve hit our ceiling with him in a year or two. Again, just curious more than anything.

Hey guys, this is where i am at as well. I dont know any of the circumstances of his prior deal and if this is the norm then I will stand down so to speak. I am in know way unhappy with Gott and his team(s) just wondering why now for a mega deal? I dont follow bball as closely anymore as the season is really long but I am pretty sure I havent heard his name floating out there or that he was unhappy in Raleigh. I like the sweet 16’s and everyone else should but was hoping to see some strong ACC finishes before he got a super deal that puts him here in Raleigh for a long long time. I think this deal does that. Yow seems to be really liberal in giving out extensions so I guess I dont understand. Deals like this to me, seem to make it harder to make a move if the bottom did fall out. (Not saying I think it is going to happen but anything is possible and we should guard ourselves against it)

Again I am not saying he should be fired or anything remotely close to that just that I dont quite understand the timing here. If this is the norm then I get it, if not then I dont.

    thanks

    Mike 96
