ParticipantI’m wading up the street here in Chi-town to the local sports bar to avoid the internets in the hotel. We get so few games actually on TV in Texas that you’ll have to forgive my lack of tears.
While this is not a must win, it would certainly get us started down an easier path. I think 2-1 against UM, ND, and ‘Cuse would have us pretty relaxed on Selection Sunday. This will not be easy.

ParticipantWhy do you think the physicality bar has been raised?
Everyone involved with the officiating of college basketball should be forced to watch the 1974 ACC Tournament Final. The pace of play and the freedom of movement allowed with and without the ball are how the game is supposed to be played. Defense, when correctly played, is played with your feet. You have to beat the offensive player to the spot. You shouldn’t be allowed to do all of the clutching and grabbing, especially off the ball. The way cutters are abused has lead to a lot more isolation and less good team play. I could go on forever. Hard nosed defense doesn’t involve hand to hand combat. College basketball has to decide that it has a problem. Until the cha-Ching slows down, it won’t happen.

ParticipantAvoiding the terrible loss is the most important thing for the Pack. If we continue to stay in games late against the good teams, we should be able to steal another one or two of those. 6-6 over the balance of the schedule isn’t an outrageous thought. Cuse and ND at home are big. Lots of games left with realistic spreads of no more than 3 points. Buy stock in Tums.

ParticipantI will pull for whoever wins the NFC in the Super Bowl. I am almost hoping for multiple injuries in the second game.

Participant4-2 in the ACC. Neutral home/road. The guys had just enough left to close it out.

ParticipantThey should have fouled Anya. Lacey is glad he ate those last two Cheerios this morning.
Texpack
ParticipantThat was a stupid play by Turner

ParticipantMarathon tomorrow. I didn’t need to expend this much energy this afternoon.

ParticipantTHis is going to be a tough one down the stretch.

ParticipantGreat look out of the TO. we must keep defending. We are going to cool off some.
Texpack
ParticipantNeed to take care of the ball and defend the three the next three minutes
Texpack
ParticipantIt will be interesting to see if Gott tries to steal some minutes with Dez at the point. I think that’s the only option for resting Lacey.

ParticipantFrenchie!

ParticipantWeird that he is there and not playing
If they flew in last night it makes sense
Texpack
ParticipantIf Lacey is going to play 38 minutes he has to distribute some.

ParticipantGetting killed on the defensive glass early. Defense is solid but we have to rebound.

ParticipantPrayers for Cat and his family. Losing a kid brother at his age would be horrible.

ParticipantThe second foul on Turner was BSW at his finest. He was late finding his man who was headed to the FT line area so he ended up charging at him totally out of control. The Hole recognized his vulnerability and simply sidestepped Turner resulting in a blatant reach/grab on his part.
His fourth foul was a relatively close charge/block situation where he should have had enough sense to back off and concede the layup since he was playing with three fouls.

ParticipantTokyo has got some loooong arms. Maybe his defense did impact Lacey’s scoring last night. This team doesn’t have enough offensive options to win many games with Lacey shooting that poorly and Turner’s minutes limited by fouls. The kids worked their tails off to get back in the game and to stay in the game as long as they did.
As for the offense in general, it was a thing of beauty when Lo was running it. He understood the curls and the options that would pop up depending on the cuts and screens that were taking place. Cat looks unsure of what to do. He wastes 5-10 seconds getting the team into the offense. In fairness, he may not be getting the kind of off the ball movement from his team mates that he needs either.
The reason Cody has been so good for the offense is that he knows where the next pass needs to go before he receives the ball. Cat is a dribble first PG. Everything with him has to be created by penetration. He needs to add another dimension or two.
