And today’s argument: It’s all a lie. They’re discrediting Mary Willingham as fast as they can.

As to those outside of NC, I saw a bunch of FB comments from average sports fans who obviously haven’t been following this closely enough to have seen the unfolding of dozens of different, but interrelated, scandals. “Everybody does this,” is the prevailing theme. “NO, YOU IDIOTS! EVERYBODY DOESN’T.” Sigh. UNC doesn’t even need to spin it to so many people who are too lazy to look and see just how deep this goes.

x, agreed on all points. Turner better keep draining 3’s because he’s costing us points any time he does anything else. He seems to get used defensively frequently, and his decision-making isn’t the greatest. Lee has had his moments, but he’s not the highest percentage shooter around and I don’t usually have a warm, fuzzy feeling when I see him shoot a 3 ball.

I imagine Trevor Lacey in that spot and think, hmmmm, how would that look? Pretty nice, I bet.

Mike, it really does make you wonder just how bad it was. There has to be a lot more there than just free cars for life.

This seems like the first significant price UNC has paid for all of its many, many transgressions. I really figured they’d get away with this just like all the rest (never mind Butchie Boy and Baddour losing their jobs, that didn’t hurt). I’m stunned. It’s a Festivus miracle!

Seth Davis is a douche and has always been a douche and will always be a douche. We might not yet be a good team, but we are definitely not a bad team. There’s a significant difference between bad and inexperienced. I see signs already that we’re improving, and there’s a long way to go.

The Central loss hurts our resume, but things have changed significantly since that game. For one, having Vandy back makes a big difference. For another, that game seems to have triggered a change in roles for several players. Barber goes into the starting lineup. No more two-PG lineups (or at least very minimal). Turner moves from starter to reserve (essentially in favor of Vandenberg). And Anya moves to the bench. Better defense and no one is playing out of position anymore.

I love Tyler Lewis, but the team is clearly better with Barber running things right now. Against a team with a more heady than quick PG, Lewis’ defensive shortcomings might not hurt. But he’s just not capable of stopping a quick PG who can drive right by him. (For example, Barber.)

So, yeah, Seth Douchevis can look at the loss to Central and toss us in the “bad” team pile, but there’s so much more to the story.

Swahili is just the tip of the iceberg here. The walls are really going to come down when someone starts digging into the Pig Latin classes.

The SBI is where this needed to go all along. No one else was going to do anything. Turn them loose and let them dig and I bet we ain’t seen nothing yet.

At least we can take comfort in the fact that we can’t possibly be screwed any worse in the next 88 years, since this was the screw job of the century. Good to get it out of the way relatively early.

Not for nothing, but if we had Vandenburg we might have withstood the screwing by the refs. 5 more fouls to give, big body, dunks putbacks.

As for the ACC response, I think we already heard it. **Cricket chirping**

I can very clearly remember the end of the Vanderbilt game in the NCAAT a few years back when that BS call on Marcus Melvin ended our season. Remember leaving for dinner shortly after that and not taking a coat, despite temps in the 20s. My then fiancee (yeah, she married into Wolfpackdom) asked, “aren’t you going to wear a coat?” My response, “The ref wouldn’t want me to have one.”

I went to the store this afternoon without my coat. Temps in the low 30s. I can take the cold, Brian Dorsey. Can you take the heat you’re going to get, bitc#?

Yes, the refs hosed us in the second half. BUT … we built a good chunk of our first-half lead courtesy of some fairly friendly calls. The T on Seth came after he’d seen several borderline foul calls go our way. The crappy officiating went both ways.

    BJD, are these the headlines:

“Mays, Thomas and Williams transfer to UNC-Greensboro to play for a ‘winner'”
    “N.C. State rejoins Southern Conference”
“God issues edict damning Wolfpack fans to another 100 years of losing”

When I get my package from the Wolfpack Club for dues this year I will be responding with my own Giving Levels chart:

Sub-NIT Finish = Zero donation and an angry letter from a bitter Wolfpack fan

NIT = Teammate Club ($120 – $299) ($120, who are we kidding, I ain’t paying more than the minimum for the NIT

NCAA Tournament Berth = Still in the Teammate Club, but upper end of range

    Sweet 16 or Firing Lee Fowler = State Club ($300 – $599)

    ACC Title = Lobo Club ($600 – $1199)

    Final 4 = Pack Circle ($1200 – $1749)

It’s performance-based giving. If things don’t change at least I’ll save a bit of money each year.

The N&O also mentioned that Degand was out due to academic issues. I guess that’s some tough love for Wolfpack Nation, because these players could have made a difference.

I suspect Smith sitting in the second half had something to do with all the passes that slipped through his hands in the first half. He might not have gotten blamed for the turnovers in the box score, but there were a few balls that he just failed to handle.

Horner’s misses at the line hurt, but that doesn’t really account for losing an 18-point lead.

I am still pissed off this morning. I can’t stop watching the team because I’m an addict and the local methadone clinic told me they don’t treat Wolfpackitis.
