It has to be the travel, the quick turn around, tired legs, and not much travel time.

And if we win, we fly in the middle of the night to Orlando. One full practice, media stuff, and tip. Maybe some sleep.

    Jiggs… that’s interesting… yep.. that 30-39% category needs further analysis…

    but here’s kinda where I was headed…

    Group 1 = “BIGS” = Anya, Freeman, Washington, Vandy…
If I’m reading your chart correctly… in seven out the last ten games … one of those has scored double figures…

    Group 2 = “Perimeter” = Lewis, Barber, Turner, Lee…
Again If I’m reading your chart correctly… in seven out the last ten games … one of those has scored double figures…

That means in 7 out of our last 10 games (and most of those against tougher opponents ) we had three guys in double figures… so that’s not really the problem… we should be able to count on somebody…

The problem is nobody knows who that somebody is and that’s a bigger headache for the other coach than it is for us…

    —————-
To turn that another way… everybody has at at least one double figure game in the last ten, except Lewis ( who I thought had at least one too… but I ain’t matching my memory against your numbers… :>} )

Four out of the eight have had at least two games in double figures…

So again, it’s a pretty safe bet some body(s) will show up for us… we don’t really care who as we know what to do in all cases…. Now that’s not true for the Other Coach… he’s GOTT to think about all the Cases when only two or three of them will actually occur.

And the other Coach damn sure better not ignore Tyler ’cause all we are talking about here is one three pointer and two layups and three Free throws or some other 1-2-3 combination thereof over thirty minutes… and Tyler’s GOTT ’em….

Looking for a big game for Warren and some intensity on the glass. I think we escape with a win against a team we catch on a downswing. Go Pack!!!

I’m guessing a 1 point victory as Xavier misses a somewhat open jumper at the end, a la Syracuse game.

I’m HOPING for an epic beatdown.

    Either way, GO PACK!

I get you bill, here’s a breakdown of the last 10 games:

    1. @SU: Warren 23, Washington 14, Turner 13, Rest 5. Total 55. L
    2. @CU: Warren 20, Turner 11, Anya 8, Washington 7, Rest 10. Total 56. L
    3. @VT: Warren 31. Washington 13, Lewis 8, Rest 19. Total 71. W
    4. UNC: Warren 36, Turner 16, Anya 10, Rest 22. Total 84. L
    5. MIA: Warren 20, Washington 13, Lee 10, Turner 9, Lewis 7, Rest 11. Total 70. L
    6. @PI: Warren 41, Freeman 10, Barber 9, Rest 14. Total 74. W
    7. BC: Warren 42, Lee 11, Lewis 8, Rest 17. Total 78. W
    8. MIA: Warren 24, Turner 22, Rest 21. Total 67. W
    9. SYR: Warren 28, Vandenberg 10, Turner 9, Lewis 7, Rest 12. Total 66. W
    10. DU: Warren 21, Freeman 13, Barber 12, Rest 21. Total 67. L

With the exception of BC and Miami Warren received help from a BIG and a PERIMETER player.

I don’t expect everyone to score double digits but asking for 7 out of a player isn’t asking too much.

I’m trying to find correlations by looking at this but without sitting down and plotting various points for the entire season to see what is an outlier and what’s a trend. Best I can see is Washington got hot for 2 weeks (2 weeks ago), Turner is usually the Pack’s second best option, and Lee isn’t providing anything lately and that must change even if it’s just 7 or Barber/Lewis need to score. Really, it’s sad when your shooting guards can’t shoot.

I think this sums up State very well…

NCAA tournament team previews: North Carolina State Wolfpack

N.C. State was the last team in the field for a reason. The Wolfpack were too one-dimensional and focused on Warren far too often this year. In fairness, head coach Mark Gottfried doesn’t have a lot of other inspiring options. He has two point guards in Tyler Lewis and Anthony “Cat” Barber who can see the floor well but can’t really create their own shot; a shooting guard in Ralston Turner who is reluctant to do anything but shoot and, at 36.7 percent from 3-point range, isn’t especially good at it; and a couple of post players who are either raw (in the case of Kyle Washington and BeeJay Anya) or limited offensively (Jordan Vandenberg). This team is one of the youngest in the country, and it plays that way often.

Jiggs… thanks for the raw data…

I see Lewis has 8 twice… thanks for easing my memory anxiety…

I think the bottom line question goes something like this….

“Who beat NCSTATE more times than anybody else this season ?”

    … and the answer is…..

    NCState.

    ——–
Now.. if I was going to do what you suggest which is to look harder at the numbers… I would look for combinations…

    Like
    FREEMAN-TURNER

    or
    VANDY-ANYA-WASHINGTON

    or
    LEWIS-BARBER-LEE

    or
    LEWIS-VANDY-TURNER

and then I would turn the numbers around backwards… that is… let what you might discard as the ‘outlier’ after some consideration become the new norm or “objective”… from a coaching/strategy standpoint.

If you can do that “outlier” one time… you can do that ‘outlier’ another time…. maybe, maybe not?

I think the pressure is on the Pack to prove the doubters wrong. On the other hand Xavier is playing close to home and they have the home team pressure. Damn my head hurts! Let’s hope they play with a house money attitude. With all the stats being bantered back and forth it comes down to two things. Defense and rebounding.

bill, yeah I doubt I’ll have the time to do it properly so we’ll just say if TJ scores A LOT and he gets help from everyone else then the Pack should win. 🙂

    ^that works for me….

One thing I think I’ve picked up from the street noise… is that the rest of the team really wants CUZ to be the leader (not the same as leading scorer)… and they all are looking for him to tell them what they need to do and when…
