End of Year Basketball: Pack Hosts NE’ern

Yeah, there’s enough bowl games to smother a small village.  Even the Pack has one coming up in fewer than 24 hours.  But there’s still basketball to be played before the year ends and before the ACC grind begins.

Tonight, NC State Basketball looks to close out the pre-ACC slate on an up note, as they welcome the Northeastern Huskies to Raleigh.

The Pack (9-3) has won seven of its last eight and is currently riding a five game win streak.

Northeastern comes to Raleigh with an 8-4 record, including a win AT fellow ACC member, DaU (And in case that doesn’t sound impressive, it is the only game Miami has lost, and they are currently ranked #13).

Tip off is at 7pm.

TV is on the RSNs/ESPN3 (locally, FoxSportsSouth)

Go Pack!!!!!

Northeastern with Reggie Lewis was the last team we beat in Reynolds in 1984 which was my last year at State.

Wow, I had forgotten Lewis was a NE’erner. He was a Baltimore area guy, a year ahead of me. Played on some of the elite Dunbar teams.

Thanks for the jog, Tex. 🙂

This might be the best team we’ve faced so far. Talented forwards, and a bunch of 40%+ 3 point shooters. I’m hopeful but not overly optimistic.

Nice work on the early thread, Wuf. Shows the gravity of the situation we have tonight. Seriously, this is a big game for a much needed boost for our OOC resume. We have some clues about how good we are (or are not), but like a lot of other teams we really don’t know yet. But we are about to find out and it starts tonight. Hold on until Henderson comes back and hope he can make enough difference to help us achieve a winning conference record.

We really might get the tar-shit beat out of us tonight. Just so long as BayBay keeps rollin’…

BeeJay could have taken the charge there, went for the block instead. That’s….not ideal.

Guessing our defensive efficiency must be off the charts. Woo-hoo! Least it’s close so far.

Rowan kills us taking bad shots. He makes them when they are good shots, but he just wants to shoot regardless

Yes, his selection sometimes blows, but he’ll get there I think. He’s already better than he used to be….but excitement gets the better of him at times still.

Dare I say we are playing MUCH better than expected? Especially on D.

With the exception of the 2-8 start…yes.

For those who say we can’t play D and Gott can’t coach it…whew, put me down for more offense on my wish list forget all the talk about defense. That ball must not be round it just will not go in the hole for Abu til he finally forced it in

I think a lot of people may not be aware (as I was not just a week ago) that Rowan graduated high school a year early and was basically thrown right into the fire. He should be a high school senior this year and he’s logging serious minutes on an ACC team.

The team seems to be slowly continuing to coagulate.

#1 – Must win here tonight
#2- hope for the damn best when our 2 guard gets back into action

If #1 & #2 come together we may have a chance at the bubble… but I still think it’s a stretch at this point. Never know though, gotta play it out on the hardwood.

For all of his plusses, Cat really has a difficult time dishing on a break. He really jacked that one apart.
