A quick little bit of fun found out on the Internet: Is your basketball program relevant to Dick Vitale? This is pretty much dead on, if you ask me.

Dick has sort of bought into his own persona, and become a caricature of himself. Pretty obnoxious most of the time, but you have to love his loyalty to Jimmy V.

And if he has to latch onto a program, Duke’s an excellent choice.

The man is filthy rich and he’s old as hell. Why does he keep doing this? It’s time for him to fade into Bolivia.

The correct question is…. “Who the F cares …. if your program is relevant to DumbAssDickie”.

The correct answer is…. “No one but… DumbAssDickie”.

Time to say goodbye. Happens to everybody sooner or later.

Worse than a caricature of himself, Vitale is the flip-side of the Howard Cosell coin, when a broadcaster/journalist becomes more important than the game he’s broadcasting. Where Cosell would ridicule everything and anything, Vitale is sickeningly positive of everyone and everything. As for the comment regarding his ‘loyalty’ to Jimmy V, I never heard about them being ‘friends’ until Jimmy joined ESPN. My dad clearly recalls Vitale commenting on ESPN before V worked there that V was ‘clearly guilty’ based solely on Golenbock’s tripe. He’s exactly why the mute button was invented. Hopefully the end of his time at ESPN will be just as silent as he should be. But I guess it will be Tebow/Vick part 95!!
