Pack/Spiders Game Thread

I will admit, I know f-ck all about Richmond football, other than that Duke quit playing them after going 0-for-3 (most under Mike London, I think). Wait, I guess that’s two things I know.

Three 1-A teams lost to 1-AA foes last week, and two of them (K State and Oregon State) were pretty good programs. So…don’t coast out there tonight. Could be a good test for our new meme buddy, SHB.

The ESPN3 feed will be on TWC channel 519 in North and South Cakalaky. It’s also on TWC in upstate NY, presumably as a hat tip to Cowdog. Full listings: http://www.gopack.com/sports/m-footbl/spec-rel/090613aaa.html

Sade is team mvp so far this season, with no close 2nd place.

we need Mitchell back, like yesterday. I know Sheriffs fumbled but I may give him a shot. As embarrassing as it may be we’ll take the win. Yall shut the hell up, exhale and throw back an extra brew. Clemson comes calling soon, lets blow the wall out of Carter Finley in a couple weeks.

Agreed, foose. It’s reminiscent of that season when almost every game we won was due to Steven Hauschka.

People underestimate just how crucial it is to have a really good kicker.

    Who was the offending announcer?

Whew, amd Richmond lost their best player in 1st quarter.

All you other Slim Sade’s are just imitating. Would the real Slim Sade please stand up? … and he did!

We should be facing theft charges by in the morning.

Just got back. That was a relief. That was a cage match-after their best player left with a lacerated scalp his homies went down and outright dirtty-switchblades and all.

We won. On to Clemson. Good luck playing like that against the Tigers.

I have said all along this year is about building for the future. Players are still adjusting, and there is no real identity out there. It will take some time. I want to have a good year but just support the coaches and team and enjoy the ride.

I’ll be looking forward to seeing when Les Miles tells all the LSU fans they need to stay in the 3rd and 4th qtr to be a great team. There’s no one there, during a night game, he must be beside himself at all these non-true fans.

Wow. Michigan’s qb with an epic fail… talk about your dumb plays.

“Got lucky. They better than us. We beat them with deprh and late execution.”

My first thought was “whew, we did what we had to do in order to win.” But my immediate follow-on thought was “holy sheet we were lucky.”

Better to be lucky than good, I suppose.

One observation. We won a trap game tonight. I’ll take it. I don’t think we played our best game tonight, so I’m not TOO concerned. I don’t think we CAN be at our best with Brandon Mitchell on the sideline wearing a boot. Our current starting QB, no offense, is just a decent backup. I hope he improves, but I don’t think we’ll go far with him as our starter. I hope he gets better, but he just seems scared and jittery when the pocket is starting to collapse.

Also, our fans need to attend some kind of clinic or something. You don’t do the wave against Richmond. Period. ESPECIALLY when you’re trailing them in the second half on your own field.

And why do so many of them feel the need to make so much noise when WE are on offense at a critical point in the game???

There was plenty to be disgusted about, but I’m darn happy to get the win. Now we just need to get better. Nice win, Pack. A lot of teams would have folded tonight.

Unfortunately on the final interception by Thomas, I, along with many others departed to the parking lots. But we pulled it out. I said after the NC State flag landed at halftime, instead of pregame, that we could win the game, and we did. Congrats! It was ugly, and still alot to work on. But it was a win, which I will always take, regardless.

I saw people leaving and couldn’t believe my eyes. We had two timeouts and had been stopping Richmond pretty good for most of the second half. And all we needed was a FG to win the game.

How people left this game early I will never understand. Have you not been watching NC State football for, well, ever?

  16. BJD95 09/08/2013 at 12:26 AM #

And shit, if you had been dutifully checking the blog, I was consistently saying all 4th quarter that we would win 23-21. Seemed pretty obvious…

As someone pointed out to me. DD complained about butts in the seats, so he took the game to the end, so butts would stay. What a strategist! For most of those in attendance it worked.

I left when we threw the last pick. Why? Because there’s nothing left to see. I knew there was a >50% chance of rallying to win (although if Rocco burns clock on 3rd down instead of throwing, we likely lose). But despite that, I didn’t CARE if we rallied to hit a field goal to beat a 1-AA team.

We played like shit, and I’d had enough. And I’ll be DAMNED if I was going to take the chance on sitting through 1-2 hours of traffic after LOSING to a 1-AA team.

We did enough to win… I guess. But right now, we are a train wreck offensively. Five weeks can’t pass fast enough – and we’re lucky our bye week’s thrown in.

Let’s all just make an agreement that we aren’t going to jump off the ledge when Clemson drills us – they are going to do that to most everybody on their schedule.

    BJD 95,

Not to knit-pick, but from August 29 -August 31 10 FBS teams lost to FCS teams, not 3 like you stated up top.
