NC State vs. LA Tech Game Thread

Yay, kickoff is minutes away! Need a reason to be positive? TOB has left town. And Skip Holtz is coaching the other team.

I will see you in the comments for late August fun and hilarity. Nobody knows what to expect from either team, so enjoy the ride.

This guy can’t even remember how many points a field goal is.

^ I always assume the Raycom guys are Pat Summerall-caliber drunk.

  3. packpowerfan 08/31/2013 at 3:40 PM #

I absolutely hate the outdated, played out music. Just ugh.

  4. packpowerfan 08/31/2013 at 3:41 PM #

Lol Beej. You have to be Summerall drunk to deal with Madden’s “point out the obvious” broadcasting.

    “…thanks John…”

    *drink*

We play music now? What happened to the jet engine loud King of the Hill commercials???

  6. BJD95 08/31/2013 at 3:43 PM #

Back when I had a young man’s tolerance and liver, I would have loved to go out drinking with Pat Summerall and Hunter S. Thompson. Would have made some nice memories pre-blackout.

237yds rushing, and over 500 yards of offense. 1-0 the most important stat!

Final score 40-14. Will put up a general football thread once the good games kick off tonight.

Well, aside from Mr. Mitchell going down, not a bad start to the DD era all things considered.

If we can limp thru (no pun intended) for the next few weeks until Mitchell comes back, we just might have something.

Thanks for the thread. So nice to see a State team come out strong. Mitchell, drink your milk and eat your spinach. We need you back for Clemson.

the frat boy culture permeating the stadium of late is terrible for the program. 50% empty stadium from midway through the 2nd quarter on is just awful.

  16. redcanine 08/31/2013 at 4:10 PM #

Frat boy culture = bushy hair and Ferris Bueller shades?

Or the Oxfords and Vineyard Vines neckties?

Tee-shirts, Ray Bans, and Budweisers for me. I love life.

All in all very happy with the game. I saw excitement and enthusiasm from coaches and players. Game 1 of year 1. Go Pack and go coach D

Mitchell has a broken bone in his foot. Could be out 5-6 weeks. Surgery tomorrow. Come back like Whittenburg.

Good win to open the season! Way to go, Pack!!!! Now, just keep it up. That’s bad news on Mitchell. 5-6 weeks is a killer. Pray for fast and complete healing. I’m worried about the Richmond game. They could be tough! Go Pack!!!!

F**k, still can’t find the car…..I know where my bookie is, though …Tee Hee!!!

Hey…if ya’ll don’t see this O…even sans Mitchell, like I do, well, you’ll just not have as much fun.

8 wins, clear as the Cascade’s rivers.

    (GD it…where did we park?)

Very different look and feel to the CDD era. Without Mitchell, we are in a lower gear. Thomas does not have the ability against good competition. Hope I am wrong. Won’t matter except for v Clemson.

Blown away impressed with this OL coach. We were missing one of the only experienced guys in RT Tyson Chandler. Had to have Spring Game Center, end of fall camp G, Joe Thuney play there in his place. Besides a hold on Crisp that unit had no flags-something rarely done under TOB.

I was very impressed in how clear the lanes were in the 3 step drops. DL never got their hands up to deflect/ bat down passes. The amount of tipped passes, even with a 6’7″ QB, used to drive me insane.

With Mitchell out we will have to see Canada run a “no-huddle” Wisconsin outfit. It actually could be a blessing in disguise because the Dayes kid is nasty.

The report is that Mitchell fractured his 5th metatarsal (toe), and actually played with it, but it became too painful and he had to come out. So maybe it ain’t as bad as we think, if he can get something for pain, or maybe some special orthotic that would allow him to play. Here’s hoping, and Thorton will be back next week also. Happy days are here again.

It was great to see them start well for a change and congrats to the team on the win. It might have been a very different outcome if they had come out sluggish as they did so often in the past. LA Tech has a pretty good team.
It was also refreshing to not have all the silly offensive penalties we had in the past.

I saw nine, maybe 10 Freshman play today. LB’s have a ton to work on this week. That shelf of the cupboard was left completely bare. When Tenuta says he doesn’t like recruiting he really means it.
