The REVENGE game thread

This is not going to be close. Not even remotely. Not even the refs can stop this beat down. I know, I know, the “don’t jinx us” crowd (cough BJD cough) is furious with me but I am that confident about this game. I have been saying we will finish 11-7 but I may be wrong about that. We could end up 12-6.
Seriously though, we are playing great ball. We are at home. We have decided defense is important. It is senior night. We will see the Three Honkey Offense!

Whats the line for tonight’s game?

  3. NCSU84 03/06/2013 at 12:59 PM #

Line: State by 14 (Source: ESPN)

Let’s show Wake some “respect” by blowing their doors off to the tune of a 30+ point victory!

I want to see Jay Lewis score on Senior Night. Then I want to see us kick the living crap out of Wake Forest and not let them up to breathe until the clock strikes 00:00.

Got to go with the “Revenge & Revolution” monicker title for this one. Yes, we owe it to take it out on the Deac’s (and give props to our Seniors) in tonight’s matchup. Don’t care much for what the final margin of victory because it’s full on “survive and advance” once March is in full swing.

I don’t go HNSBS ever (notice updates on Bubble Watch infers his ghostly past) but I will make an exception this time. The situation we are in resembles many circumstances that his Wolfpack squads faced down the stretch. Solid W/L record in the ACC, fighting tooth and nail to secure a pass on the Thursday Les Robinson Invitational. What would often occur played out as mind boggling loss to WF, followed by a Thursday disaster to another woeful opponent (why not WF again-right Tommy Burelson)?

Now is the time for Gott to show we’re getting over the hump in order to set the Wolfpack “new age” revolution into full tilt. IMO there are still die hard Pack fans sitting on the fence and waiting for the State of Missouri slogan “show me” to occur. A win tonight will keep us alive for a bye and go a long way to prove we are truly going leaps and bounds toward Basketball relevance again.

I won’t be able to watch tonight, and every game I have not been able to watch, State has won by double digits.

I hope the ‘Noles can grow a pair and knock the ‘Hoos off the 4 line tonight. I don’t like being stressed out on Sundays.

  8. vtpackfan 03/06/2013 at 1:42 PM #

Yes we R the cure^ Call us Robert Smith 😉
The only game we’ve lost that I haven’t watched is Okie State.

It will be me and Gary Hahn for this rodeo.

Things I’m solid on going into this game opposed to the previous matchup in Winston.
    1. Purvis and Buckets can actually play some D this time around. That will help out keeping McKie and the PF who went Carmelo on us in check.
    2. The modified version of Calvin is a hustling one who is moving his feet and rotating on D. He’s also getting at it on the glass to give Richard some much deserved assistance.

    Intangibles:
Woo with some timely three balls and a good night at the charity stripe. If the intangibles occur along with the contributions noted above then the PNC will be full of goodwill and cheer when the final horn sounds.

“12/6 , 4 th in conference Carolina loses at least once next two game, Virginia gets beat, 6 th seed possibly 4 in tournament, ACCT tourney wins in between.”

    Wut?

This is nothing like what we went through with HWSNBN’s teams. We are solidly in the main event and have been pretty much all along. Under our two previous regimes we never even had a chance at an ACC tourney bye and were sweating bullets on selection Sunday for the big tourney.

FWIW Herb would not have had 5 straight NCAA appearances under the current selection criteria; his strength of schedule (lack of) and failure to beat anyone in the top half of the conference would have kept us out 4 out of those 5 times.

With all that said let’s whoop the next two opponents, get the bye and get this thing rolling.

Will Lewis make a cameo start tonight? I’d like to see a starting lineup of Brown, Lewis, Wood, Leslie, Howell. Then get him out after a couple of minutes.

  13. ajsnyder85 03/06/2013 at 3:12 PM #

I say let Jay start and be part of the full rotation. It shouldn’t hurt us tonight. You can’t do that on every senior night but I think even playing 4 on 5 (worst case scenario), we should be able to handle the Deacs.

  14. TheAliasTroll 03/06/2013 at 3:13 PM #

I don’t know about guaranteeting blowouts just yet, but it seems we are the fun, exciting, and dominate team when we use CJL let’s the game come to him and when he accepts his role rather than him trying to be the star player. I think and hope we’re getting back there.

I hear what you are saying but I never believed in ‘Revenge’ being a factor in games. Either you are good enough and focused enough to win or you are not. Let’s hope this team realizes it is the former, not the latter.

I have not felt good about a wolfpack blowout since Ok State brought me to reality.

I have a very good feeling we destroy Wake Forest. Senior Night. We are playing well. We are home. We will crush them and beat FSU as well, though not as easily as tonight.

I believe in revenge games. Emotion plays a big role in games sometimes. It’s not just about talent and focus. That’s why bulletin board material can make a difference. Sometimes it gives you just a little more in the tank. Same for revenge, I’m sure.

  18. elvislives 03/06/2013 at 4:41 PM #

I would love to see Leslie and Brown on the bench at tip off tonight. Bring them in the game after the first couple of minutes to assume their regular roles, but let them know that if they want to start on senior night they’ll need to come back to play next year.

  19. 61Packer 03/06/2013 at 5:14 PM #

This isn’t going to be another 130-89 deal tonight.

However, I do expect us to win tonight. But, like about 100% of Wolfpack fans, I also expected us to win back on January 22.

  20. EdMar 03/06/2013 at 5:37 PM #

I expect us to win tonight, but it may be close.

Congrats to all the seniors Jay, Scott, Richard and our likely last home game players Leslie ( both CJ and Calvin) and Lorenzo. It was great having you and having you take us from always playing in the Play In Game of the ACCT to actually trying to get a bye

    Big change, Thanks again

    (odds NCSU by 14, UNC-Cheat by 1 ???)

I take nothing for granted with the edition of NC State, but I think we win by at least 8-10 points. Wake is not that great away from their house and the Pack can’t be anything but motivated to repay the loss and to send the seniors off with a memorable win.

  22. wufpup76 03/06/2013 at 6:02 PM #

Dude, really though … Don’t jinx us. Are you INSANES?

    (hahahahaha)

  23. Blackfish 03/06/2013 at 6:09 PM #

Wut! I’ve been posting for two weeks we finish 12-6, finish 4th in conference and least end up as a 6 seed in the big dance. I just kinda placed some quantitative hypotheticals in there for a path proposal.

  24. Wufpacker 03/06/2013 at 6:21 PM #

Dear Lord, how I hate having to pull for UMd. Makes me feel all dirty inside.

  25. Blackfish 03/06/2013 at 6:32 PM #

I like the idea that a team everyone discounted as easy and dropped us in the poles early in the season is now playing our rival, it’s a lets see how good your baby blue$&@ fares in the sand box. Go Terps beatum by 25 and do a couple of Hiroyuki gang nam style dances while your at it…!!!..
