BC 2/27 game thread

This will hopefully be a boring game. I will be a little late but will join the fun. So I cannot be blamed for anything bad 😉

BC has been horrid on the road so I guess they might do well with a boring outing.

Long ago, our first meeting with BC, they didn’t have much answer for Purvis (doesn’t sound right, I know). I bring this up because the “new” line up goes with SW at the two. Seeing more of RP and WBS logging significant minutes with Zo at the 2 could put a lot of pressure on the BC perimeter.

I feel this game is in the bag, so I am totally blameworthy if we lose.

The only thing that gives me pause is that Wednesdays are just terrible, uber-shitty luck.

I expect Calvin to have a big game since we really shouldn’t need it for this one. I still think the over/under on CJ turnovers is 4, not including ill advised shots. He’ll score 20+, but give them 10 in pts of to’s.

If we struggle with this one after what happened at the hole, then I’m afraid we’ll be looking at a short postseason.

Rick, since when is a State game EVER boring???

Whenever we think we can relax on an opponent, that opponent rises up and plays their best game of the season against us.

I won’t relax until the clock reads 00:00 and we’re ahead by at least a point.

Is this game only on Espn 3? I am the Winston Salem area and doubt it will be on locally.

Local news in Texas has it that Julius Randle will publicly declare which university he is attending after his high school state championship games this weekend. His semi-final and final (assuming a win) games are Friday and Saturday respectively for PCA. I watched him play his first game back after injury and he did not seem to miss a beat. Hope he picks the Pack!

If you go to ESPN3 and find the game, you can click on the “blackout” note and see a map of where the game is blacked out. Small parts of North Carolina will still be able to view the game (mostly western North Carolina)

In winston-salem it should be on channel 48. Not sure what that is on cable…I think the call letters are WMVY.

And the on line guide for 48 never lists the games so don’t go by that.

Excluding the last uNX game I think State has won all the games I’ve been able to see on broadcast up here in the great NW. Since I for some reason get a Boston station on my cable, I get to watch the BC game on the big screen. I hope it’s exciting in the “will State win by 20 or 30” sense…

^ Interesting. One of the local channels here in the SW carries ACCN games as well, but the on screen guide informs that tonight’s choice is UMd/GT…so looks like I’ll be doing the ESPN3 “digital fog” tonight.

EDIT – S’ok tho…looks like I’ll have O’s/Bosox spring game on MLB to fill the regular screen.

I was watching the “bubble watch” on Buzzer Beater just now, and wouldn’t this be an interesting first round opponent…no, not HWSNBN…Kentucky. The return of Mays and the prodigal son Bubbleguts!

  14. BJD95 02/27/2013 at 7:07 PM #

Teams that I would want NO part of: Minnesota, Saint Louis, Villanova. The former two are very physical, the latter has too many shooters. Plus with the name value, I know that we would take Kentucky seriously.

I know, premature. But an hour to tip and I’m super bored.

  15. Wufpacker 02/27/2013 at 7:08 PM #

^ Would love to see Zo/WBS go toe to toe with bubbleguts.

And it’s not premature at all. Hell, March is day after tomorrow.

Stuck this on the forums in the most recent baseball thread, but figure more folks’ll see it here….ya gotta check out this catch today from Brett Williams vs NM State…

Of the 1/2 seeds, I most want to be paired with Florida. Least with Gonzaga.

  18. MrPlywood 02/27/2013 at 7:27 PM #

Heck, if State can’t bump up their seed to a 5 I’d rather see them go to a 12. Lunardi has the Pack as an 8, which is a tough row to hoe.

  19. Wufpacker 02/27/2013 at 7:36 PM #

    ^ Let’s say 11 instead.

Not sure I’d want to take the chance on getting stuck in one of the 12/12 play ins…losing in one of those would be about the worst insult of an end I can imagine to a season that held so much promise.

Boston College game is on MyTV channel 121 on Time Warner.

  21. BJD95 02/27/2013 at 7:50 PM #

11-7 gets us a 6 seed as long as we don’t lose on ACCT Thursday. I’m confident in that. 90-95 percent.

And I really do think that’s the floor of what we will do the next few weeks.

  22. MrPlywood 02/27/2013 at 7:50 PM #

Works for me. I didn’t think of that.

  23. john of sparta 02/27/2013 at 7:59 PM #

would a Calvin “bounce-back” game be
4 points and 0 turnovers? against
BC, he’s gotta really shine or endure
the “head case” label thru the tourney .

  24. BJD95 02/27/2013 at 8:02 PM #

Calvin looks ready tonight. I am optimistic for him, both short and long term.

  25. Texpack 02/27/2013 at 8:04 PM #

The run begins tonight. 13 in a row.
