(14)Miami at (19)NC State – Game Thread

Because Zo Brown is significantly hobbled, it seems BJD95 is too depressed to even have a raging semi (live blog, that is).  😀

Thus it will be the basic game thread today folks.

You know how these work.  Have at it.

Yep…sucks. No boxing out costs us again.

    Helluva game though.

  2. WeAreCured 02/02/2013 at 5:33 PM #

It doesn’t take a prophet. I hate it for them. We have never won the game when we don’t score, then give them a possession to tie or win.

    I’m not feeling very well.

    I have no words guys.

    OK…..

If there is any such thing as a “Quality” loss… this is one.

I saw alot more good than bad.

    Quality minutes by Vandy….

…. and no one can say enough about Tyler Lewis.

  5. wufpup76 02/02/2013 at 5:34 PM #

    I just … So painful

  6. Alpha Wolf 02/02/2013 at 5:34 PM #

    Well.

    Phukc.

  7. JeremyH 02/02/2013 at 5:35 PM #

We lost on turnovers before that last shot.

  8. ncstatered21 02/02/2013 at 5:35 PM #

This sucks. I still think we gonna be hard to beat in March.

  9. coach13 02/02/2013 at 5:35 PM #

No concellation but they did a helluva job to make it close and had every opportunity to win.

  10. mikeak01 02/02/2013 at 5:37 PM #

That missed foul by CJ followed by a foul on the rebounder…
One bad play by Tyler instead if game winner just great performance
And another tip-in with 0.8 sick to the stomach

    Thanks for the streaming links

In baseball, they keep track of wins/losses in 1 run games. Good teams are known for winning 1 run games, bad teams are known for losing 1 run games. Managers who are at the top of their game are known for being able to pull off 1 run wins in a much higher frequency than 1 run losses.

How many 1 possession losses does this make for State this year? How many more times does the same lesson need to be learned before it is corrected?

Love the no-call on Johnson on the push off under the basket on the rebound.

  13. TLeo 02/02/2013 at 5:38 PM #

Once again this team pisses it away with late game stupidity. They play so damn well and even fight back after the Miami run and every chance to put it away but noooo, dumb turnovers and fouls. two road losses on the way next.

  14. mikeak01 02/02/2013 at 5:39 PM #

Elvis the two turnovers at the end and the foul by CJ were keys. The play out of the time out wasn’t that stellar. They forced a really bad shot by Miami and just ba luck (again) and lack of box out of course

  15. WeAreCured 02/02/2013 at 5:39 PM #

It’s no one person’s fault, but they should have won. They killed it from the line, too. Awful turnover by Purv, then a solid trap by the Canes made Warren cough it up, then CJ compounded his only free throw miss with an absolute frustration foul that gave them the point that turned out to be the difference while stopping the clock at the same time.

They are so good at beating themselves under 2 minutes. I don’t now why I even hope for anything different. Sigh. Single tear…

“This sucks. I still think we gonna be hard to beat in March.”

We have to make it to March. We are entering danger-zone territory.

So, so painful. They deserved to win today, but you could see the young ones getting tight. I didn’t think we’d be playing on Thursday in the ACC Tournament. Sh*t.

The bad news is we lost and we’re out of the Top 25.

The good news is, after Duke, our schedule starts to favor us. We also go to Durham with some depth at point, which will make us stronger in the end of the game. There’s no reason this team can’t turn it around, but Calvin, Wood and Warren will have to step up just a bit more.

  18. packalum44 02/02/2013 at 5:41 PM #

Are we beginning to assume bubble team status?

  19. graywolf 02/02/2013 at 5:41 PM #

This one make me sick…..gutsy play and to lose on the last play of the game. Lewis came of age tonight and played very well.
Now we have to go to Durham and do something we have not done is a very long time…..win.

  20. phillypacker 02/02/2013 at 5:42 PM #

This is an excellent loss. Reminds me of how State lost without Whittenburg. That team was not nearly as strong as a team until they had to work as a team without their best scorer. Lewis has proved himself in the eyes of his teammates and a lot of other people where he becomes solidly in the rotation. Defending against Larkin, Scott and Johnson with that little time left is very, very tough. Johnson shove Howell almost out of bounds when he gets that rebound. That should have been called. Watch the replay.

I’m proud of this team. Sucks that we can’t get the reward for a great great effort today. This team has guts. No predictions for post season….but I’d hate to face our clone! Way to go Tyler. GREAT game!

  22. hoop 02/02/2013 at 5:42 PM #

I am proud of this team yet frustrated at some of the bonehead plays which are so easy to correct. The only real good news is it’s a confidence builder for Lewis and the rest of the team.

  23. BJD95 02/02/2013 at 5:42 PM #

This is as proud as I can remember being after a heartbreaking loss.

  24. ldr of the pk 75 02/02/2013 at 5:42 PM #

Just not a very good team. We had this one won, gave it away. Without Brown we played a good game, but the same thing came back to haunt us, dumb mistakes.

Leslie missing FT’s, and on rebound a senseless foul on his part. At the end 26 seconds and Lewis is shooting? Really? We even had a timeout left.

We will remain average, in spite of our talent, because we play dumb.

  25. elvislives 02/02/2013 at 5:43 PM #

I saw the push-off, but whatever. Where was the box out? This happened before at Maryland. Where was the coaching adjustment and the reminder of what to do in this situation?

Why did Leslie have the ball in his hands to get fouled instead of Wood?

Why did Lewis take the jump shot on the last offensive possession instead of a high post to Leslie?

Why did Leslie foul after his missed FT to give Miami a chance to score 2 pts at the line with under a minute to play?

    Coaching, coaching, coaching.

Forgive me, I am furious and tired of it.

ps Thank you Tyler Lewis for giving me a reason not to jump off the edge of the building that I am now standing on.

Go Pack. And go get some in-game coaching lessons Gott. I love you, but come on man. This one is on the coaches.
