Sunday in Raleigh

It is a BEAUTIFUL Sunday in Raleigh and we are still catching our breath from the great run the Wolfpack basketball program have given us.

Our ‘unwind’ was made a little easier yesterday when NC State downed #5 UNC-CH on the baseball field. (State currently leads Sunday’s game 3-1 in the second inning).

While you are gearing up for the Kansas-Carolina basketball game, I thought I would share the following comment from another entry on SFN as I shared the exact same observations and thought them worthy of note.

There are lots of Wolfpack flags and t-shirts out and about today, 2 days after the battle with Kansas. I think it’s a fair belief, for the first time since the 80′s, that this skirmish is just the beginning. What’s clearly true is that the formerly patronizing pats from the blue neighbors are now tinged with genuine concern. Wow, that’s a fine feeling.

Wherever we go from here, I hope to remember the feeling of this unexpected run. It’s been pure and rare and something that this team and staff made it’s own this last few weeks. Yea & thanks to those guys and to Debbie Yow, who may just be as lucky as she is good.

From here, goodness, lots of variables… next year could be a monster or merely dangerous but it surely seems there’ll be more folk looking up than looking down at the Pack. Please Gott, stay hungry.

Oh what fun it was at work today hearing the unc fans crying the blues and blaming it all on Marshall not playing or the refs. They didn’t want to hear about all the other talented players they have and why couldn’t they win with those. Also had some fun pointing out the easy road they had just to get to play Kansas and how they were not used to playing a good team without acc officials on their side.

UNC will be back strong as ever next year. I predict a path to the Final Four by playing only Mid-Majors, all games played on decks of Aircraft Carriers.

They began the season on an aircraft carrier…and ended it on the Titanic (although Roy showed his experience in getting a seat on the ladies’ lifeboat and leaving just five walk-ons behind) Lots of mixed metaphors there, but RoyBoy is so much fun to ridicule.

Views from the cheap seats. A LOT of STATE fans sold their tickets and left St. Louis early. Some of the folks on the Charter sold their tickets also. SO, there was a LOT of KU fans in our section.

The FUNNIEST T-shirt, on a very PRIM and PROPER 40 year old lady, had the following on the back.

I agree with Roy, (Next two lines in ALL BOLD CAPS), I DON’T GIVE A SH*T ABOUT Carolina. Then at the bottom was the caption. Roy Williams, April 7, 2003.

It was PRICELESS. I shot a picture of it and emailed to all my UNC buddies….

What? No Monday blog post? Just kidding. After all the material this site has been putting out over the past two weeks, you admins deserve a break. Thanks for all your hard work!

I would like to know(and maybe Adventuroo can help)on Friday night was it apparent who the UNC fans were pulling for in St. Louis when we played KU?

As someone mentioned on page 1 or 2 they always tell UNC fans that they pull for UNC except when they play State even though personally he wants UNC to lose. I think thats the same thing with most of the UNC crowd….They say they pull for State except during the UNC games just to try and sound civilized(their perception) but deep down I think most of them want us to lose everytime no matter who we play.

I would love to know about their attitude towards State at the Edward Jones Dome.

    Thanks
