Sunday in Raleigh

It is a BEAUTIFUL Sunday in Raleigh and we are still catching our breath from the great run the Wolfpack basketball program have given us.

Our ‘unwind’ was made a little easier yesterday when NC State downed #5 UNC-CH on the baseball field. (State currently leads Sunday’s game 3-1 in the second inning).

While you are gearing up for the Kansas-Carolina basketball game, I thought I would share the following comment from another entry on SFN as I shared the exact same observations and thought them worthy of note.

There are lots of Wolfpack flags and t-shirts out and about today, 2 days after the battle with Kansas. I think it’s a fair belief, for the first time since the 80′s, that this skirmish is just the beginning. What’s clearly true is that the formerly patronizing pats from the blue neighbors are now tinged with genuine concern. Wow, that’s a fine feeling.

Wherever we go from here, I hope to remember the feeling of this unexpected run. It’s been pure and rare and something that this team and staff made it’s own this last few weeks. Yea & thanks to those guys and to Debbie Yow, who may just be as lucky as she is good.

From here, goodness, lots of variables… next year could be a monster or merely dangerous but it surely seems there’ll be more folk looking up than looking down at the Pack. Please Gott, stay hungry.

The look on crybaby Henson’s face when the final horn sounded was priceless.

Get this. Carolina fans over on WRAL’s chat are blaming the officiating!

    Is that rich, or what??

  4. coach13 03/25/2012 at 7:22 PM #

Not that it is terribly important, but do they come out with a final ranking for this year? And any chance we are in the top 25 based on how good we were at the end of the season?

Be careful what you ask for, you might get it. And boy did Kansas ever give it to them. Now all my trash talkin UNX fans after our loss Friday, are getting angry and defensive, after their loss. Ain’t that just like em! The refs surely cost them the game. Ha! Ha! And I watched the U tube videos of our 3 incoming McDonalds All Americans, and things are looking great for next year, and hopefully Leslie will hang around.

the refs let them play. maybe state and carolina can scrimmage over the summer and practice playing physical. maybe invite Robinson.

I’m so glad those holes lost today. They had the easiest three ganes to get to today (as usual) of any team and when they go up against a good team and play without the benefit of acc officials they can’t handle it.

  8. Wolf74 03/25/2012 at 7:46 PM #

I guess the NCAA refs didn’t get the ACC’s memo regarding tendencies and athletic players not having to foul. The Hole fans are mad because refs cost them the game – HA! They should be mad at the ACC refs for not calling the games as they are in the rest of the country. That way their team would not get a false sense of superiority by being used to getting every close call because the refs know how superior they are before the game begins.

so glad the heels are out. after watching today, i dont believe our pack wouldve taken them. no pressure on stillman would allow their other strengths to take over. looking forward to the mickey d game on wednesday. i have seen tyler lewis play but not purvis and warren.

Only bad news about unc loss is that some of their underclassmen are more likely to stay.

I just hope “Kensucky” looses period. Not because of the Calipari deal in Raleigh (I’ve moved on) but because of the deals he left at UMASS and Memphis. The guy is a snake, darn good & successful one, but still a snake. He always builds a powerhouse and leaves just in the nick of time to greener pastures.

Sorry but I would pull for anyone over Kensucky. That being said I hope Louisville brings home the title. Patino is running low on white suits these days…..

He who has uses the most gel in their hair will win the battle of the Bluegrass State.

Kentucky over Louisville by double digits. KU ove OSU in a tight one. Kentucky over KU by a very wide margin. This Kentucky team is sick.

Chose to see The Hunger Games with wife and daughter rather than watch the Holes. Good choice I think. Looking forward to our own “hunger games” next year. When we hungry, we eat!

Watched the You Tube videos of our three McD AA’s and then watched Kansas beat the holes. A nice day indeed. Wait ’til next year has never felt better!

“so glad the heels are out. after watching today, i don’t believe our pack would’ve taken them.”
I still think we would have beaten them. Kansas didn’t really start defending them well until late in the game and their defensive strategy was outstanding over the last five minutes. Completely shut down the big three and make Stillman White beat you. We would have done that over the course of the whole game – just like the game in Raleigh where we ended up getting burned by Marshall. No way White would have done the same against us. Brown would have given him fits and we win easily by dominating in the paint.
    Oh, what could have been…

Couple of comments. Got in LATE last night on the WPC flight. We had about 6 or 8 LIGHT BLUE’s on the flight. On the way out, they were discretely invisible. Looked VERY dejected. The Tour guide was surprised when they checked in.

Listened to the INSIDE FM broadcast of the UNC Network. The WP Network let them borrow their FM transmitter and they kept for Sunday’s game. Jones and Eric, OFF AIR, were really upset. They knew that both teams could not keep up the pace. They predicted a letdown (or maybe FEARED it) and it happened.

The Referring looked pretty invisible. Eric commented that it was, in his opinion, the PLAYERS and the not the REF’s. They DID point out that UNC went to the line MORE often and hit less.

So, it is over. The mood of the charter was very upbeat and not somber. This is a GOOD sign.

Next year looks even better. Got my bags packed for a Final Four trip.

    GO PACK!
