We were young once…

A bit of a reprieve from the continued disgraceful behavior of the league office and their henchmen at ESPN. This great video goes back nearly 30 years to the apex of college basketball.

NC State v. Louisville at William Neal Reynolds coliseum.

I was at that game too. One of the things about V this video reminded me of was the robust slap on the backside to remind a player that he wasn’t thrilled with something that had just happened.

If Lorenzo were still alive I’d have Richard Howell move in with him for the Summer and spend 4 hours a day learning how to finish around the basket. He was an extraordinary finisher.

As for the ’83 game in Reynolds against UNC-CH I will say it ranks behind the UH win by only a razor thin margin in my memory.

This must have been December (Santa suit on Tuffy) and we were playing our second Final Four participant from the previous year already. That is where NC State basketball’s rightful place in the grand scheme of things is. I think Gott has a chance to get us back.

Thanks a million for posting the video.

I like how it’s basketball, and not a three ring circus of music videos and other distracting garbage.

at 4:06 in the video, Lo C swatted a UL shot into the first row of the stands. Hit me right in the dang hands and I dropped it. Dangit!!!

    Lo C was a man.

UL had some great players back in that time also. Milt Wagner, Lancaster Gordon, etc.

    Man, I miss V.

Lorilla in his prime, Howell is alot like him in terms of his style of play. I hope he is vindicated from the farcical refereeing he received in the first Hole Game.

Spud was the smallest player I’ve ever seen totally dominate a game. Muggsy would steal people’s rock, Spud would steal people’s rock and then yang it on them when they tried to do something about it.

Good memories indeed. Although I could have gone without seeing John F**king Clougherty’s mug.

Every time I see a fellow PACK fan mentioned how they miss coach V on SFN, I feel the same. I always think about how it could of been here. WHAT A DYNASTY!

Coach V is in a better place now and is probably starting to smile with coach G here.
