High school football recruits should take notice; Marvin tweets the truth

After yesterday’s court decision that will cause UNC football player Michael McAdoo to officially miss next season, everyone’s favorite Tar Heel, Marvin “Anchorman” Austin, hit the twittersphere last night.

During this scandal recruits considering UNC have relayed messages that the UNC staff didn’t(still doesn’t?) feel any sanctions against the program would be severe. The message floating out of Chapel Hill has gone from it only involving 1 or 2 players and it being over before last season’s opening game, to issues with players but the program not facing sanctions because UNC had never received a Notice of Allegations, to most recently a recruit out of Georgia mentioning the possibility of a post-season ban for UNC-Rogue.

Consistently, the message coming from the UNC side of this story has been way, way off in terms of the reality and the magnitude of the scandal. Essentially, if the information is coming from a UNC source, then multiply the magnitude by 10 and you will be closer to the truth.

Meanwhile, Butch has continued to convince kids to roll the dice and commit to spend their college years in Chapel Hill playing for a program whose future couldn’t be anymore uncertain. If these kids won’t listen to recruiters from rivals, then maybe they will listen to the “Anchorman” himself about the real “Carolina Way”:

I swear it is simply disheartning that the peolpe our parents put there trust in to protect us really only care about there gain solely

I’m so heated right now…justice will provail..even if I have to spill the beans

anchormanaustin marvin austin
This is so frustrating right now..I can’t rap my head around it..I wish I could understand but maybe its not logical enough to understand

anchormanaustin marvin austin
Twitter I’m not bitter I just don’t like the way my friend, teammate, brother was mislead, misued, and ostrisized from the program for the same reasons that others got suspened and are able to play for because I know exactly the details in each case and its noway that this young man should have his dream snatched from him like the #ncaa has done.I can tell you so many stories that would be mind boggling in comparison

anchormanaustin marvin austin
Trust me I know….I love my school..I chose to come here when nobody thought it was smart to do..but I just wish the administration stood and stop the cowardly acts when the are in front of the ncaa just tell them what you told us…don’t turn and twist your story to look appealing to the Ncaa and presure the 21 year old athlete to say and do things that aren’t in there best interest…its so much that’s not said it stings when I think about it Unc true fans understand how we as players love this place it tatted in blood for most guys on the team.

So which high school football player wants to be the next rogue (UNC’s defense for not monitoring and providing proper guidance to their players, not our opinion of you Marvin) UNC football player?

If The Anchorman was a student at UNC, why didn’t they teach him the difference between “there” and “their?”

If Marvin gets a book deal, he’ll need a good editor.

SMU was finally brought down by one player that told his story. UNX won’t get the death penalty but the similarites are interesting.

Good grief. Come on, seriously. I’m stunned this kid was even allowed to graduate high school. He is nearly illiterate. Maybe he’s a “math guy”?

  7. TheAliasTroll 07/14/2011 at 10:13 AM #

Oh well, at least they’ve finally implemented the “sign out sheets” program to curb this kind of stuff.

Here is a couple for MA
    what is 3/8 times 4/5???

    answer 3/10

    or solve (x-2)(x+2)=???

    answer: x= 2 or -2

    or maybe this
The NCAA leaves its headquarters in Indianapolis on a train going 60 mph heading to chapel hill NC. Another train leaving Chapel Hill carrying with Butch, Dick and Holden heads out of town as fast as it can. At 2pm on a monday Marvin Austin spills the beans. How long before the S**t hits the fan???

answer: God I wish I knew

I think Marvin should buy himself “Hooked on Phonics”. Dude is a horrible speller.

All I know is Carolina folks can’t say another WORD about amphibious.

I heard he did pretty well in his “Addition” class. But the follow-up course (“Subtraction: Addition’s evil twin”) was pretty hard for Marvin.

Actually, if you leave it open-ended like this, there are an infinite number of solutions. You only have one equation and two unknowns. I think you meant:

    “or solve (x-2)(x+2) = 0, solve for x”

    🙂

    I stand corrected.
    I meant zero.

Sometimes I say what I mean and other times I mean what I say. I guess Marvin follows this principle.

But hey man, solve the last math problem and you win the prize!!!

I’m not so concerned how he said it (it is only twitter after all). The main point is that someone with intimate knowledge of what’s gone on is close to ratting out the three stooges. I hope he spills those beans and then maybe justice would prevail.

I beg to differ – I’d argue the correct answer is “Not soon enough”

The CLOWNS they call leadership are really trying to figure out HOW to get out of this one…this calls for strategy and the more they do, the worse it gets. If they would just come out and tell the truth, it would ease the pain. They think their problems are just going to disappear…LOL

I am certain some phone calls have been made and money is on the way.

Not to mention, ALL OF THE ATHLETES OF THE PAST SHOULD SUE UNC for failure to EDUCATE them! That’s supposedly what they went to school for in the first place, wasn’t it?

The university administration is the laughing stock of all major schools. It’s obvious they pushed the players through…I don’t think anyone doubts that their players could ever pass the simplest class of any subject on their own.

  18. JSRy2k 07/14/2011 at 1:07 PM #

Sounds like Marvin is tweaked at UNC, as he well should be. Any new recruit, though, has ample evidence of the thee stooge antics and can only blame himself for joining it.

You should be able to sign into the forums with the same user name and password as the main blog.

Note that sometimes I can’t sign into the forums even though I’m signed in on the main blog on a different tab. This has happened to me with both IE and Firefox. Usually when I can’t sign into the forums, I can switch browsers and get signed in.

    Brett Friedlander weighs in again.

Marvin, dear friend, you just tweet away to your heart’s content, k? This is America! Where you are free to tweet whenever you want.

  22. PackerInRussia 07/14/2011 at 3:10 PM #

Why does he say “Twitter I’m not bitter”? I follow some people, but I don’t do any tweeting myself. Maybe I’m just not hip to the lingo (or maybe he just wanted a word that rhymes with bitter), but, to me, it sounds as if he’s addressing Twitter. Does Marvin think that Twitter is some form of personal diary? Does he not realize (yet) that everyone in the world can read what he writes if they want to?

if ga tech is a preview of what is to come. I am getting a little excited. Certainly this has Butch and the boys a little nervous.

Marvin seems to tweet with metronome regularity. I hope it continues. Is this now the patented answer for “amphibious”?

  25. highstick 07/14/2011 at 4:19 PM #

Regarding the train…maybe the NCAA should investigate who paid for those train tickets leaving Chapel Hill!
