Michael McAdoo and (UPDATE Robert Quinn) in D.C. party pictures with Coples?

About two weeks ago we ran this entry with the pictures of Coples at the now-famous post-draft party in D.C.  At the time, we had no idea who the guys were who were in the pictures other than Coples (on the right).  Art Chansky, for one, has stated that there were more UNC-CH players than just Coples at the party.  We are not saying we know know with 100% certainty, but a little internet searching has led to some guesses.  We will let the reader be the judge.  As an aside, isn’t it cool how the “sideways scissors” hand sign shows off their V.I.P. wristbands?

First, let’s try to identify the guy with the glasses in that picture above.  Does he look like #94 in this picture?  He does to us.

#94 in that picture is UNC-CH rising senior defensive lineman Michael McAdoo.  Here is McAdoo’s media guide picture.

Again, looks like the same guy to us, but you be the judge.

Next, let’s try to identify the guy wearing purple. UPDATE ALERT — apparently the guy in purple is Robert Quinn.  Earlier we thought it could have been Eugene Robinson, but apparently it is not.  Of course, if the local news media were doing their jobs maybe they would have asked some obvious questions by now — such as who are the three other UNC-CH  players at the party with Coples? (As mentioned by Chansky in the link from the first paragraph).  Here is a picture of Quinn.

Readers should remember from this entry that Quinn was ruled permanently ineligible last fall for accepting “two black diamond watches and a pair of matching earrings.”

There have been a lot of rumors that linebacker Kevin Reddick and another UNC-CH player were at the party…but, at this point we haven’t run across any pictures.

It would be ironic if both Reddick and Coples were at the party together as ‘partners in crime’ since they also appear to be ‘partners in unnecessary roughness’ and general douche-baggery on the field. NC State fans will remember that Reddick is the UNC player that threw a punch at the head of NC State’s Jarvis Williams in the Wolfpack’s 2010 victory over the Tar Heels.

…that is the same game where Quinton Coples laid one of the worst late hits you will ever see on a quarterback in what most could only assume was a an attempt to injure the Wolfpack’s Russell Wilson. (See the 1:50 mark of this video.)

Wait a second…haven’t these two upstanding players shared top billing in another entry here on SFN in the past? Oh yes — here is your MUST review entry!
Who knows…these guys may be ‘partners in ineligibility’ real soon.

Stay tuned.

Readers who want more detail on McAdoo can read this entry from February.  He was declared permanently ineligible by the NCAA last November.  As you can see in that piece, the last we heard was that UNC-CH planned to appeal the NCAA’s decision, which Dickie termed “unfair.”  I wonder if they still have an appeal in the works given this latest development.

… i would say it’s more of a pop culture thing than anything else..

now their behavior on the field is a totally different issue! since i’ve been keeping up with the rivalry and stories from my dad about their behavior over there on the hill.. they are in a class of their own. and a great example pictured above. i’ve seen some border line behavior from our guys when we had chuck amato.. but nothing repeated as it is over there.

my question is, what are the similarities with oregon’s blount kid punching the boise st player, unx in this incident and the off the field issues with these types of programs? both appear to push the limitations on what is legal/ethical in ncaafb practices. isn’t behavior like this a good indicator of some level of lack of institutional control? should this happen in modern day ncaafb? or am i reaching??

Whether it’s a gang sign or not (and I agree that it probably is not), that doesn’t mean these guys aren’t thugs. One need only watch how they conduct themselves on the field to realize they are indeed thugs.

And thugs can’t go to college? Seriously? Being a thug is not mutually exclusive with intelligence or work ethic. Any of you who believe there are no thugs in college (and NCSU is no exception here) must lead a very, very sheltered existence.

Y’all have been out of the game too long.

The game being Rock Paper Scissors.

I usually throw paper but I’d have to alter my game plan if I find myself going against these dudes.

Why are seasoned N&O journalists not putting 2 and 2 together like this?

Why are seasoned N&O journalists not putting 2 and 2 together like this?

I believe they are. The better question to ask is, why are they not reporting on this?

I am an NC State Alum as my father and oldest son is there now in graduate school.
Having said that, I just spent the last day and a half in Chapel Hill for new student orientation for one of my children.
I really tried to go in with an open mind and enjoy the time BUT I have never been around such an arrogant bunch.
Lots of time discussing just how gifted and lucky students are to be accepted to UNC.
Lots of time telling the students how wordedrful the canpus is and how NCSU is just bricks and how the students who dont get into UNC go to NCSU.
Not the first mention of how the university will prepare you for a job or how to earn a living.
Lots of hot air about the high level of honor code that ALL students and faculty and staff are held to.
WHAT A BUNCH OF CRAP. sorry, i am still trying to keep an open mind.

Wolfpack Nation, please help me to keep an open mind………
