WRAL reports Harrow to Kentucky

I have to admit I am a little shocked by this. Maybe Cal believes with good coaching and strength and conditioning he can get Harrow to live up to his high school ranking.

    Low class meets no class.

Or maybe some of you had expectations way to high for a freshman point guard that was splitting time and still averaging 9 pts and 3 ast a game… just my opinion

Harrow will do really well under a proper coach.

    Best of luck.

I agree w/ Plz, I expect all the players that were under the Lowe banner, to all improve greatly over the next two years under solid coaches. While Cal is suspect in certain things, he will be able to maximize Harrow’s ability. Same goes for Gott.

That just seems like a GREAT fit for some reason…

I wish him well, but this coiuld be a recipe for disaster.

I’m happy for him if he’s where he wants to be. I don’t like Cal, so part of me hopes Ryan doesn’t produce much for him. But for Ryan’s sake, I hope he does. I don’t hold grudges against him. So things didn’t work out for him at State. No need for animosity towards him, at least that’s the way I see it. I wish him well, unless Kentucky plays us at some point. Then I hope he’s so sick, he just has to come to the game wearing street clothes. (Sorry, couldn’t resist that one little jab!)

It is my understanding that Harrow does not react well to too much criticism. Hopefully he will not crumble under Cal’s intense coaching style. Best of luck to him. I am fairly sure Cal did not promise him to start.

Maybe Cal can get Harrow to stop hitting the helium….

  10. Wulfpack 05/26/2011 at 10:21 AM #

Hope he has some success there. He’ll for darn sure ride the pine if he doesn’t produce quickly. Cal doesn’t mess around, nor does UK nation. Good luck, Ryan.

Cal is a great coach and I’m sure that Harrow will do fine under him. Harrow has an amazing amount of talent – Lowe just couldn’t take advantage it for whatever reason. Best of luck to Harrow… I’ll still root for him in games

I would like to understand the real reason Harrow left – obviously MG is a great recruiter and is very likable.

So a mama’s boy, who cant take the heat of the acc and criticism from the NCSU fanbase, decides that his best option is to go to UK?

    Are you kidding me?

Good luck getting on the floor at UK. And good luck with those friendly supportive fans.

Still can’t get over his sulking at the MG presser. That body language had “team cancer” written all over it. We don’t need that anymore. I’m glad we have kids who want to be here.

  14. packof81 05/26/2011 at 11:10 AM #

    He’ll be on the pine.

I would like to understand the real reason Harrow left – obviously MG is a great recruiter and is very likable.

Based on his Press conference disrespect his leaving had nothing to do with MG. I wish him well, but I hope we do well enough to make him second guess the move.

Also, Calipari is alot of things, but he is not selfish. He is the one that told Brandon Knight he was a top 10 pick and said “you gotta do this.” If Harrow wants to be in the NBA, why not go to KY if they wat you.

The quote function isn’t working, not the edit.. The first two lines of that post was a quoting travelwolf…

No surprise here. Harrow is a terrific talent and will have a chance to compete for a championship. He will excel in the dribble drive offense.

  18. panic83 05/26/2011 at 12:36 PM #

Since MG signed his release, does this mean he will be allowed to play right away?

  19. Wolfy__79 05/26/2011 at 12:57 PM #

isn’t he okay with transferring since the departure of sidney lowe?? that’s my understanding anyway.

i’d like to wish harrow luck in his new setting. it’s a shame he didn’t want to stay in raleigh but i think he will do fine at uk. i don’t really care for cal as far as getting his players to campus, but he’s a pretty good coach after the sleezer role he plays in recruiting.. anyone think he’s been in his ear all along?

  20. WULF 05/26/2011 at 1:31 PM #

    panic83:

He’ll have to sit a year.

  21. UnclePen 05/26/2011 at 1:50 PM #

It has been suggested by many that in the case of a coach change the player wouldn’t lose that year. I’m against that. If you commit to a school you should have something to lose if you change your mind. If the Coach says he might leave or his record indicates he might get fired, go somewhere else.

  22. 61Packer 05/26/2011 at 1:51 PM #

    Those two deserve each other.

  23. PoppaJohn 05/26/2011 at 2:22 PM #

    ^^ absolutely agree
The agreement is with the school. I realize the emotional attachment is with the coaching staff, but the school has invested significantly in the kid and there should be some penalty to discourage the kids from walking away on a whim. If there had been, then Ryan may have been a little slower to pull the trigger and changed his mind after getting to know the staff.

  24. PoppaJohn 05/26/2011 at 2:25 PM #

    ^ never mind, my mistake
Just read above that he does have to sit a year. The knucklehead should have given Gott a chance.

  25. SuperStuff 05/26/2011 at 3:47 PM #

Lowe didn’t get the best out of RH. I really think Gott would have though, but sitting out a year might do him a world of good. Good Luck RH.
