Going Whole Hog For StateFans Nation!

Here at StateFans Nation, we take great pride in the fact that our readership is typically smarter than the average bear. Our loyal readers are what makes our corner of the web THE place to go for breaking Wolfpack news and commentary that is actually insightful. Your daily clicks and contributions on the StateFans Nation Forums are appreciated, but now it’s time to step up and do more.

It’s time to go whole hog for StateFans Nation! We are entering a team in the first annual Wolfpack Club BBQ Bowl and we’d like YOU to come by and sample the best barbecue that can be cooked by anyone not named Wilber.

As mentioned in a previous column, cooking a whole hog is one of the few topics that I know something about.  Until previous NC State administrations decided that five hours is long enough to tailgate, I really enjoyed spending the whole day at Carter-Finley Stadium, slowly cooking a whole hog to serve my guests before the evening kickoff. This competition provides hardcore tailgaters with the chance to show off their culinary prowess — a chance that they no longer get during the regular season.  It also provides us the opportunity to get out from behind the keyboard and meet each other in person.

There’s no doubt that many of our loyal StateFans Nation readers will be in attendance this Saturday, rain or shine. Why not make plans to come out a little early and eat some barbecue with us? Plates are only $6 and with the ticket, you’ll get entry into the cooking area to sample barbecue from each team. You can find information on buying tickets here.

The barbecue teams’ booths will be located in the RV parking lot, just outside the southeast corner of the stadium. Specifically, the StateFans Nation Barbecue Team will be located in Space 30. Look for the shiny new banner with the website’s masthead.  Come by and say hello! You never know which of the website glitterati will be in attendance!

About SMD

SMD graduated from NC State at a time when beating UNC-CH in both major revenue sports was a regular occurrence. This was well before a time when I could express my frustrated attempts at being a writer on the "internets." When I'm not talking about the Pack, I'm probably arguing politics.

Doggone it! I am going to miss some serious Q! (Un)Fortunately for me, my daughter is performing in a piano competition for state championship this Saturday. Proud papa is driving his girl to UNCG but is wishing he could be back in Raleigh for good food and good company. I hope y’all enjoy!

I am there! I’m very excited with the direction of our football program. I think TOB really “gets it”. Things like this bbq bowl and having the embers there should really draw a big crowd. I look forward to meeting some fellow SFN’ers out there. Go Pack!!

Would luv to attend as well, but will still be in Afghanistan. I like the idea of a T-shirt. If developed, please let us know how to get one. I would like to sport one for the Afghans. BTW, Wolfpack nation is well represented over here and doing our part. Another reason to be proud! As a matter of fact I estimate 15,500 of us.

I would just call the number on the form and ask. There’s no way it’s sold out.

I am from Halifax County originally. I now live in the mountains of MD. I wish I could be there this weekend to give ya’ll a run for your money in the whole hog contest. My 40 years of cooking hogs would be tough to beat. I also have cooked pigs a at carter finley; best tailgates ever.
