NC State (14-11, 4-7 ACC) hits the road Sunday, traveling to Maryland (16-10, 5-6 ACC) for a nationally televised game against the Terps. Tip-off is set for 5:30 p.m. and the game will be televised on Fox Sports Net.

The Terrapins (16-10, 5-6 ACC) have dropped two straight, at Boston College and at Virginia Tech, but sit at 12-3 at home on the season.

This game will be televised on Fox Sports Net with Ron Thulin (play-by-play), Dan Bonner (analyist) and Debbie Antonelli (sideline).

From the ever growing file titled, “What a difference two decades makes”

Sunday’s meeting will mark the 147th in a series that dates back to the 1924-25 season. Maryland has a slight lead in the series, 74-72. NC State has won just five of the last 22 meetings, and eight of the last 40 dating back to the 1991-92 campaign. Prior to that streak, the Pack had won nine of the previous 12 matchups.

Maryland has won seven straight in the series and NC State will be looking to defeat the Terrapins for the first time under Sidney Lowe. Maryland won both regular season matchups last season.

In 2009, Maryland won in Raleigh, 71-60, and again at the ACC Tournament in Atlanta, 74-69. In 2008, Maryland won in College Park by 14 points. The Terps won both contests in 2007 as well, winning by 15 in Raleigh then by 20 in College Park.

Prior to 2007, the Wolfpack was on a three-game winning streak against the Terrapins, winning the only contest in 2006 (62-58 in Raleigh) and sweeping Maryland during the 2004- 05 regular season for the first time since 1988-89.

Maryland posts a 37-21 mark against the Pack in College Park, and 4-2 in games played at the Comcast Center. NC State lost its first trip to the Comcast Center in 2003, but then won two straight in 2004 and 2005. Maryland has won the last three (2007, 2008 and 2010).

lets hope they fair better than the baseball team. They start the season in the hole 1-2 vs Elon. 2 of the games were at home and one on the road.

    Great hustle guys.

We look like we’re sleepwalking – especially on defense. What else is new?

12-10 Md at the under 16:00 timeout.

Md is clearly the better / more aggressive team to start the game. We are making NBA All Start game defense look good. Md is getting literally whatever look they want. These are the easiest / lowest pressure interior passes I have ever seen.

If we don’t keep up with them scoring we may lose by 30.

Leslie has fallen in love with his jumpshot and we look overall tentative.

Jordan Williams will score at least 30 tonight if we continue this “defense”.

    Thanks for the link!

This is one of the worst team defensive performances I have ever seen. And for a Sidney Lowe NC State squad, that is really saying something.

There is ZERO effort to deny passing lanes or fight off screens. Whatever Maryland wants to do they’re able to do it … Easily.

We once again look five steps slower than the competition.

Nice little run. Pack ahead by 3

You wrote too soon. Three steels in a row for the WOLPFACK and a tie game at 33!!

Another 3! We’re up by THREE NOW!!

And now another turnover for Maryland!!!!

    Great defense!!!!

Now we’re up by 5 and Gary calls timeout!!!!

    A 14-0 RUN!!!

  14. hoop 02/20/2011 at 7:04 PM #

UP by two at the half.

  15. WolftownVA81 02/20/2011 at 7:04 PM #

Not pretty but we lead 40 – 38.

Not going to pass up a rare opportunity to congratulate the Pack on actually scoring 40 pts. in the first half. Strong last 10 minutes. Good job.

Leslie does not play good defense still but he seems to not be near as discombobulated in the last 4 games or so.

  18. WolftownVA81 02/20/2011 at 7:31 PM #

    No D whatsoever.

  19. swamppack 02/20/2011 at 7:34 PM #

I am just really suprised we MAY be heading towards three games in a row with no major collapses. MAYBE.

  20. JSRy2k 02/20/2011 at 7:52 PM #

Does Javi have any offensive teammates on the floor? He sure doesn’t seem to want to pass or run the offense.

  21. eas 02/20/2011 at 7:58 PM #

Hey Tracy Smith, when you are double teamed pass the ball! I mean it is great to work it down low but when the D collapses……kick it out. Simple BB.

  22. hoop 02/20/2011 at 7:59 PM #

Bad News. Leslie just got rejected and then Maryland scores.

    Down by 6.

  23. JSRy2k 02/20/2011 at 8:02 PM #

swamppack, have we collapsed majorly yet?

  24. eas 02/20/2011 at 8:07 PM #

    Yep

  25. swamppack 02/20/2011 at 8:09 PM #

JSRy2k, we have just about qualified for that collapse.
