Leslie is not a loss. Look how well we’ve done WITH him this year. Time for some complete rebuilding here in Raleigh. Yes Larry Harris, you must go too…

I hope CJL will be back next year to play for a new coach, who can teach how to play at the college level, so all the CJL bashers will see what he is capable of. He is just a freshmen, and look who coaches him. Enough said!

30 points. I feel 100% confident for the 1st time that a coaching change is unavoidable now.

I have been a LOYAL Wolfpack fan for 43 years. It is amazing that we have not been a good team for about 20 years. I keep thinking something will change, next year will be the year but alas disappointment. I was excited about this year thinking Lowe has the talent to at least be respectable. Guess what disappointment again. While I will continue to still love the Pack I have to say I am done. I don’t care. How can it get any worse? So they fire Lowe, we lose players and recruits, get a new Coach then wait another 3 to 4 years to see if maybe, just maybe we can be competitive again. I hope that my Son will one day know that we can compete, and that we are good. I just hope I am around to see that again.

^ same boat here Thompson 44 and the cycle or rather recycle will continue yet again. My children say it every game, so fortunately I can save my soap box talk.

Give Sidney and the team some credit!

Their free-throw defense on Duke was pretty effective!

  7. packfan03 02/05/2011 at 8:54 PM #

^^^Hopefully we won’t have to wait 3-4 years. Les, Sendek, and Lowe have one thing in common: None were stud coaches before we hired them. Let’s find someone that is a proven commodity and move forward.

I’ll support whoever the hire is, but let’s break the cycle of bad choices. I really believe it’s that simple. If Lowe can recruit a top 5 class at NC State, surely a coach that has proven himself can as well.

The problem I see is who is going to want to come in and Coach. Coach Cal used us as leverage, Barnes just teased us and all the others wanted to stay away from Roy and K. I want a young Coach with some hunger who is not afraid to come in and challenge. Lord I pray that Yow can convince someone who can Coach to come in and bring us back to being what we once were.

Face it, no “name” coach is going to come to State. It sits too close to Durham and Chapel Hill. They pick all the players they want and we get scraps..if we’re lucky. We went through this the last time when Sidney was hired. Barnes wasn’t about to give up his gig in Austin. To get slaughtered every year by Duke and the blue scumbellies? Just like V, we’ll have to get lucky with a guy on the way up. There’s no way a kid would choose to play at State if he has the chance to play at Duke or Carolina. It will be a loooong process to even become competitive again.

I’ve watched State pass the ball around the perimeter and throw up a desperate 3 for 20 years! No motion, no imagination, just BS basketball. To have two NCAA champion point guards coaching a team with so little ball movement is a joke! Just like State basketball.

I live in Texas and am glad I don’t have to suffer through watching State play every week. I hate it but State basketball just sucks. And until this year, our football team came very close!

CJL was never going to stay more than a year. He told Carlton Tudor that a while back. I’ve also heard he is a divisive influence in the lockeroom. So, if he doesn’t play again – no big deal.

Adventuroo – Respect your right to say it, but totally disagree.

As we have argued ad infinitum on this site, State does have some appealing things to attract a new coach. But for the first time I can remember, the incoming guy will have a team he can do something with – if Ryan, Zo, Howell, and Woods stay when Sid moves on. I think Painter has potential too. And if we can keep the incoming recruit, there’s reason to hope a quality coach can improve on this year’s performance. (making Yow look like a genius)

  11. Thompson44 02/05/2011 at 9:11 PM #

They key part of your statement PoppaJohn is IF RYAN.ZO, HOWELL, WOODS and the recruits stay committed to our Program.

The LONE saving grace right now is that Lee Fowler has departed Raleigh and won’t be involved in any decision making (or lack thereof).

    For that, I am grateful.

  13. Statefan1998 02/05/2011 at 9:14 PM #

Where the hell do you all think CJ Leslie is going? Europe? The guy sucks in college, would not be pick before 55th pick in draft. That means he will not make the roster or sure money in the NBA. IMO, Leslie is the most overrated and hype player I have seen.

  14. Pack Mentality 02/05/2011 at 9:24 PM #

No proven coach at a major college will come here. We need a proven head coach from a mid major who isn’t looking to make excuses. We’ll have to roll the dice, but whoever we get must have college head coaching experience.

Adventuroo, I respect your right to disagree, but what could you possibly see that shows you any glimmer of a hope that Sid will ever be anything but a laughingstock of the league that is competing for last place every year? So we may not hire a great coach next – who knows for sure. But I can say for sure that I can lay a turd on the sidelines and it could coach us to last place every freaking year.

  15. eas 02/05/2011 at 9:32 PM #

    A million dollar turd

  16. eas 02/05/2011 at 9:34 PM #

Reality = year 1 > year 5 in the Lowe regime. Sad, very sad.

  17. Wulfpack 02/05/2011 at 9:54 PM #

Sid continues to get abused in the ACC. The ACC is as bad as it has ever been, yet Sid is still not even close to being competitive in year 5, with a highly rated recruiting class.

It’s been over for a long time. He will not be returning. The sooner his supporters beat this into their skull, the better. He has been an absolute disaster as a head coach. There is no other way to put it.

“TOB will have issues at QB like CTC had and FB will NOT be the sport next fall that everyone thinks it will be….the same folks griping today and wanting FB to start will be the folks wanting BB to start about mid FB season next year.”

I strongly expect that Glennon will have much better results than Jay Davis did, though I suppose I could be wrong. Also, comparing CTC’s head coaching accomplishments (or lack thereof) sans Rivers to TOB’s body of work, with or without Russell Wilson (or even Matt Ryan for that matter) seems awfully short-sighted.

That being said, I don’t expect next year’s results in FB to equal this year’s. I’d be surprised if they overachieve that much. But as far as wishing for BB season halfway through FB season next year? I assure you that will not be an issue if Sid is still prowling the sidelines.

Again, chill with the Lowe hate. We all know he’s gotta go. But maybe some are forgetting what he did back in ’83. Hell, I was one year old, and even I haven’t forgotten.

  20. JT 02/05/2011 at 10:21 PM #

I wonder how good Leslie could be. I’m really not sure how talented he is (I think pretty talented, but it’s hard to tell). I know he doesn’t have any developed skills. He also has absolutely no motor. I can honestly say I’ve never seen a player who seems to care less.
I like pretty much everybody else on the team on some level (at least Javi cares enough to go psycho occasionally). But when the Super Talent has no on switch, it spells disaster for everybody.

Far as coaches go, gimme an established but young mid-major or small-major guy. There are no sure things and I don’t buy into the Tubby hype- good coach, but not super. Sendek was a good hire who just didn’t pan out. I prefer that route rather than wooing retreads.

For anyone interested, I found our sleeper coach on ESPN 2. Randy Bennett of St. Marys. He has numerous 20 wins seasons, and talk about fudametally sound offense/defense. That is his teams. The television commentators suggested anybody looking for a coach in the spring should take a serious look at him. His team is leading the WCC, the conference with Gonzaga. I think he would be a great coach for State, and if you have any doubts you should check him out. His record speaks for itself, and a job here would be a move up for him. Let the search begin!

Some people are forever happy with mediocrity and just pass off poor performance with, “just one more try, WTNY, etc, etc. Love your optimism, but question your judgement.

It is certainly not throwing Sid under the bus to question his performance this deep into a season that has been a disaster, and a coaching stint in Raleigh that has shown not one sign that progress can be made or that he and his staff can teach and mold gthese young players.

I went to the Wake-UVA game last Sat. and it was refreshing to see young players from 2 not so good teams, hustling and scrapping, showing that they are trying to improve through the coaching they are receiving.

Just about all the TV experts, whether you care for them or not, have lately been saying how poor the body language of our team is. And they are correct. They haven’t a clue because they aren’t beeing coached up. They aren’t motivated, they are poor fundamenatally, they are lazy. And it all equals exactly what we have, a loser of a program.

I don’t care if any of these prima donnas stay or leave. I’d just as soon start from scratch with a coach and staff that appreciate the opportunity they will be presented, and actually have an idea of how to make this team better. And don’t discount Debbie Yows ability. Contrary to above, she has a track record, and it’s good.

    Well be fine someday.

“Again, chill with the Lowe hate. We all know he’s gotta go. But maybe some are forgetting what he did back in ’83. Hell, I was one year old, and even I haven’t forgotten.”

Don’t hate Lowe. In fact I feel for him. He rescued an incompetent idiot from further embarrassment (and the school by extension) during a very poorly run coaching search and put himself in a position where, despite being an NCSU legend, he has become persona non grata.

If he could do it over he’d probably tell Lee Fowler to take a flying leap, just like the rest of us. I hate it that he’s in this position and so do most State fans I suspect.

But as you said yourself, he has to to go. I hope he realizes this himself and steps down of his own accord.

You shouldn’t presume anyone here hates Sid. Most of us also remember his previous contributions and despite the past five years and the frustration it’s caused I doubt many State fans “hate” Sid.

Don’t quite understand the DY love affair. Why do you all love her so much? It’s not like UM was Florida or Texas. The NC in basketball was by a coach she did not hire, and she wanted to fire him.

    Please explain love affair.

    Lowe’s NBA Record… Just saying
    79 Wins and 228 losses .251%

I dearly like Lowe…. but heck… his record kind of speaks for itself.
