Tracey’s leg is not right, Ryan is sick (or perhaps recovering), and CJL is suspended. Who cares? A loss is a loss, whether it’s by 20 or 50.

    like it matters

We gain nothing by retaining Sidney Lowe one second more.

Let me tell you how bad it has gotten for me: I shield NC State basketball games from my kids the way I would filter Scarface or explicit porn. I will not let my children watch it, lest they observe and absorb the absolute losing tendencies of this program, its players, and its coaches. NC State basketball is toxic in every way. As a 36-year old director of a media company, even I am fearful of watching and allowing this loserism to rub off on me. Its just awful.

    Reynaldo Sidney, anyone?

  5. Wulfpack 02/05/2011 at 6:22 PM #

This trainwreck has reached epic proportions.

If I’m Vegas, tonight’s line ought to be 35.

  6. Wulfpack 02/05/2011 at 6:24 PM #

Len Elmore and Mike Patrick will have a field day with this one. If you don’t like it, stop providing them ammo.

Tick, tick, tick. Seems the entire team has now been lost with half a season to go. I’d be surprised if we win another game – especially following the thrashing we are about to receive. Sid must go now, just to show this is not acceptable any longer….

  8. PackisRolling 02/05/2011 at 6:31 PM #

my six-year-old son is pulling for Duke and I’m fine with it.

  9. Dogbreath 02/05/2011 at 6:33 PM #

I’d actually like to see if Duke can set some sort of record for margin of victory. Just go for it.

  10. ADVENTUROO 02/05/2011 at 6:33 PM #

WSJ (thats the Winston Salem Journal) is the only media outlet reporting, as of 5:38, that CJL’s suspension is for ONE game.

PackPride is aghast…They, and some on this site, would schedule a lynching after tonight’s game….however, based on Sid’s ethnicity, that would be a hate crime.

The real crime the the HATE SID syndrome.

If I recall, that two ringer head coach, old Huck, won on talent recruited by Gutheridge and Dougherty. When they left, he was on the ropes….

BUT, then he won again and all the boys departed for NBA land.

SO….he LOST the last year. He went to the NIT based on his name….not his record.

He has bashed the press for their preseason rankings of the team and Harrison Barnes….and NOW the polls show it.

He was just making progress when Mr. WithDrew’s dad called him, right after his CNBC appearance…

This team was overrated and overranked and some of you were incredibly NAIVE to expect a 4th place ACC finish this year.

We are starting one Sr., one Jr. and usually 2 – sometimes 3 freshmen.

Go ahead and throw Sid under the bus….it is his NBA background that finally brought some talent here….certainly not the administration or the reputation of our fans.

Then, let him leave….any coach worth his or her mettle will have an OK year next year. Look how much trouble Kelly is having this year after being crowned the Queen of WP Basketball for going to the NCAA last year on Yow’s recruits…

We will quickly fall into the HWWNBSOH again morass….there ain’t no Messiah waiting. Tubby…yeah RIGHT. Barnes….in your dreams. Miller….Monte Towe has a better shot at a Kardashian mama that Miller coming here. Alford….what are you sniffing?

SO, Mrs. Yow has demanded that ALL major teams be top 25. If you will take a little time and look at MARYLAND’s record in the Athletic Director’s cup during her tenure, then she hardly lived up to her requirement. Her average finish for 16 years was 35th….and if you do a little statistical work, the moving average looked like a sine wave…..following Gary’s winnings…

SO…Sid deserves a second year with his recruits. TOB will have issues at QB like CTC had and FB will NOT be the sport next fall that everyone thinks it will be….the same folks griping today and wanting FB to start will be the folks wanting BB to start about mid FB season next year.

I’m going to watch the game, cheer for the TEAM and the COACH and go to the RBC home games and the ACC Tourney and keep writing my checks to NCSU….My thoughts, my perrogative, my views.

  11. 61Packer 02/05/2011 at 6:35 PM #

I also think Sid deserves a second year with his recruits. At NC Central or Wake Tech.

CJL is no major loss as far as I’m concerned.

  12. WV Wolf 02/05/2011 at 6:51 PM #

Sid said on the radio pre-game show that the suspension is one game.

  13. leewolf 02/05/2011 at 7:03 PM #

Honestly…what could possibly make you think that Sid has any damn clue out there? Our team plays terrible defense and has consistently every single year since he has been there. I just flipped on the Duke game to see the Devils hit two WIDE open threes. Is that due to lack of talent? No, that is lack of basketball smarts, lack of hustle, lack of knowing where you are on the court, lack of coaching defensive skills. It isn’t getting any better as our talent level is rising. Why should be think that with another year it will suddenly click?

Too much time has been wasted already. Love the guy, glad he won an NC here, I know he loves State…just not cut out for the job. It is time to move on.

  14. wolfmanmat 02/05/2011 at 7:08 PM #

I’d sooner hire Anthony Grundy to drive my kids school bus than keep Sid as a basketball coach. Time to move on.

  15. St8Fan 02/05/2011 at 7:09 PM #

you think Sid is trying to build up excuses for the end of the year…”Our best player, missed 10 games to injury, our starting point guard was out for 2 games, and our 5 star freshman, I had to show him who was in charge by suspending him for the game against the #5 team in the country.” If those things hadn’t happened, we would have been more successful…so give me one more year and let’s see what happens…..

  16. packalum44 02/05/2011 at 7:27 PM #

Word is the CJ is skipping class hence the suspension. He’s not coming back. That’s a huge loss next year. Those who think otherwise likely have double digit IQs.

  17. 61Packer 02/05/2011 at 7:42 PM #

After that half, I’d like to see this entire bunch, coaches and players, jettisoned.

Bob Wade has been outdone. Sidney Lowe is the worst coach I’ve EVER seen in the ACC, and I’ve been following this league since the mid-50s.

  18. WolftownVA81 02/05/2011 at 7:46 PM #

Aint no way we can stomage another year of this.

  19. Pack Mentality 02/05/2011 at 7:48 PM #

I want everyone to look at us. We are walking a fine line of being bad enough to drop out of division 1 basketball. That is how bad we are. I hope that we get beat by an average of 50 points for the rest of the year. I don’t want to hear a godd*** person say that a coach needs all his recruits in before he can be evaluated. When you act on that bulls*** of a statement this right here is what you f***ing get. I believe it is possible we may never recover from our hole that we have dug for ourselves.

  20. JSRy2k 02/05/2011 at 7:58 PM #

    @ADVENTUROO:
This IS the second year with ALL Sidney’s recruits. I know Horner was recruited by Sendek, but he practiced and played every minute under Lowe. Questioning a coach in his fifth year who has peaked at 6 ACC wins is hardly throwing him under the bus.

  21. mak4dpak 02/05/2011 at 7:59 PM #

Great job with the team! 5 years and what???? No improvement, and the Duke game is a mascacre. Am I suprised? Just hurry up and get the season over with. Can we just forfiet the rest of the season? Wake may even beat us the second time around. But a least all the CJL bashers on here can’t blame CJL for the Duke game. It is the coach guys! Face the facts.

  22. john of sparta 02/05/2011 at 8:02 PM #

    packalum44 +1…CJL is gone. like UNX’s WithDrew2.

  23. Whiteshoes67 02/05/2011 at 8:09 PM #

Good riddance if that’s the case. Our coaching problems haven’t helped this situation–they probably contributed to it–but his lack of effort on a consistent basis was inexcusable regardless. I’d rather watch a group of guys with no talent play their butts off then watch some talented athlete go out there and dog it half the time, sulk when things don’t go his way, pout on the court, and play selfishly.

  24. eas 02/05/2011 at 8:10 PM #

Anyone who continues to question there isn’t serious issues with this program/staff is crazy. Even if you take this game away, every game has had HORRIBLE 1st half play. The is so easy to assess…..game preparation is always wrong. Teams pick us apart the 1st half. Why? Because they are prepared to exploit our week points. Just basic pre-game planning.

I am just happy Carolina Hurricanes are playing…
