agreed alpha!!! keeping him is the big win for TOB this off season. i’m suprised that he isn’t the dc but if he’s happy with his role and not being dc woohah. more blocked punts, the blitz scheme works, players are confident…etc..

9 wins entering bowl season and we can look at top 15 the following year and contend..

Regarding Jon Tenuta – From doing a little googling, it appears that he has only ‘moved around’ coinciding with the head coach employing him being fired. Any insight on this? I.E. Does this speak to his loyalty to a coach/program?

STUPID TO HAVE MARYLAND AT THE END OF THE YEAR… STUPID… STUPID… STUPID.

I blame our losses this season on the lack of agressive play calling on offense and defense, and the philosphy of playing not to lose. If we didn’t play with that mindset, we could be so much better. Even if it means running up the score, as it keeps the offense clicking. Then we wouldn’t be looking at losing to Maryland. Case and point, of what put us back in the position to win the Maryland game. Agressive play! Then who and when we played someone wouldn’t matter.

well I can understand the cupcake early to get Glennon and the OL time to gel….HOWEVER….I am a big fan of playing tough teams early..like first and/or second games…Waiting to play the traditionally tough teams late in the season gives them time to have their machine well-oiled and humming along. By snagging one or two of the toughies early, they would be more vulnerable for us to pick off. Look at how James Madison had VT the second week and VT coming off an emotional loss as well…do you think JM would have beaten VT in NOV? NOPE…..
Playing the tough team on the schedule early really levels the playing field…they havent had time to gel either….
Furthermore, allowing Glennon and the rest of the team to get “confidence” early against “cupcakes” actually could be very detrimental. I mean look at it like this…so Glennon gets his passing experience vs. these WEAKer cupcake defenses only to have to face say FSU etc. later on which certainly will have better DBs and pass rushers.etc… Early on versus these so-called cupcakes he will gain no experience reading much faster DBs he would face later on and thus the timing on his passes would be underdeveloped.
It is just like playing a weak NOV DEC hoops schedule versus the likes of UNCG et.al each week…it gives the team NO experience in how to handle the “meat” of the ACC and tourney time.

russwuf, let them enjoy it while they can, not to say I disagree, but next year with Tennessee, and Conneticut early, that certainly won’t be the case. Certainly won’t have the cupcake label. And that kind of schedule gets the fans excited, and ready to come out to a game at CF.

i don’t want to be a team that depends on who we play to make us better. i agree that a strong schedule helps prepare teams for tougher teams down the road. if TOB is to win acc championships, then it should be more about what we do.. and less about what they do.

we need this schedule this year.. opening against the gamecocks basically killed our season with the hype. if we had won… the teams confidence would have soared.. instead, it dwindled. they were young. the difference to me being in 2012 opening with the vols.. the entire team will be seasoned and potentially the best we’ve ever seen at ncsu!

    Oct. 22 at Virginia
    Oct. 29 at Florida State
    Nov. 5 NORTH CAROLINA
    Nov. 12 at Boston College
    Nov. 19 CLEMSON
    Nov. 26 MARYLAND

this portion is where it counts. yes a strong schedule would not only better prepare us against the size/speed we’ll see versus fsu and unx.. but with TOB i don’t think it matters… it all falls on him.. he’s a good coach but as mentioned before appears to “play not to lose..” a bit. i subscribe to he just doesn’t work that way.. if they aren’t prepared, then the game will be tougher. i think being in raleigh has been good for TOB.. maybe a the best match.. he’s shown a little more fire than he did early on. he gives us a little balance and if he can accomplish his goal of winning the acc championshipS. … i think everyone will be happy…

^this schedule looks good now.. but i’m willing to bet that it will look a little tougher once we get a little closer to it.. and we’ll all be glad we had some easy wins sprinkled in early…

I always get frustrated when I read people downgrading our schedule because of their lack of personal knowledge of the teams on teh schedule, and the fact they only use the last year as a barometer. For example:

Cincinnati was the leader in the Big East for the two years prior to the last one. So are they really that bad or was last year a blip on the screen?

Central Michigan in the four years prior to last year was 38-16, with a win at Michigan State in 2009. So are they without talent, or did they have an adjustment period to the coaching change?

I know that only big names will satisfy some people. But that has to be an agreement between two parties, not just our desires. And one person’s big name is another’s dog game.
