GT Game / Potential Semi-Live Blog

We have company this morning, so I don’t know when I will post updates, or how often. Clearly, this is the biggest game of Tom O’Brien’s tenure. A win here could catapault NC State into legitimate contention for the Atlantic Division crown, along with Top 25 honors. A loss, and it’s TOB’s fourth consecutive 0-1 ACC start – and the wheels could come off quickly.

You want analysis? Our own Alpha Wolf has you covered with far better analysis than you will find anywhere in the paid media; GAWolf has set you up with a little NC State-talk in this entry; and our message boards have at least a dozen threads from this week discussing different aspects of today’s game.

You want the opinions of a simpleton like me? I’ve seen Georgia Tech play twice, and NC State play three times. NC State looked like a good football team (not great, but good). Georgia Tech looked like hot garbage smells. If we play our game, I fully expect a win today.

Pat Forde: http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/columns/story?columnist=forde_pat&id=5598809 – he did qualify things somewhat.. but still…

WTF? Why no flag on running into kicker?

  3. doomsday2008 09/25/2010 at 3:03 PM #

The opening play in the 2nd half Tech scores then we answer. They cut it to 3 late in the 4th we answer again. That’s Championship type of play.

So there’s no way they can keep us out of the top 25 after this, right?

  5. waxhaw 09/25/2010 at 3:04 PM #

    Big win!

  6. waxhaw 09/25/2010 at 3:04 PM #

^ depends on who wins/loses in the top 25. If everyone wins, we aren’t getting in.

  7. doomsday2008 09/25/2010 at 3:04 PM #

Because the ref is trying to help us get another punter.

What a great figurative ending: NC State’s D rips a GT running back out of his shoe.

I have to disagree. I believe a lot of those teams did not play anybody. We are in I’m betting.

    Good point waxhaw. Fingers crossed!

and the play before, we ripped a GT running back out of his helmet.

  14. graywolf 09/25/2010 at 3:07 PM #

Great, great win today. Now on to VT. Go Pack!

  15. Wufpacker 09/25/2010 at 3:08 PM #

    NO, no…no top 25. Noooo

  16. jrummy 09/25/2010 at 3:09 PM #

I really look forward to SFN’s pre-game analysis for VT. I haven’t paid much attention to them this year, so not really sure what to expect. Looks like they’re giving BC the business, but thats not saying much.

Great game! This is the best start for us that I can remember…

Yes, it will be hard to break the top 25 for one reason……we are NCSU. No love from those who vote usually.

russell put up HUGE #’s today. with the exception of the pick 6, that was a dominating performance. can everyone please shut up about ponder and Jacory. Wilson is the best QB in the conference. hands down

  20. ADVENTUROO 09/25/2010 at 3:16 PM #

    packbackr04,

The ESPN announcers agree with you……great effort from the whole team.

so when are the UNC de-commits going to begin… its not too late to take a visit. no NCAA sanctions in store for the PACK! haha

is it a possibility UNC is trying to drag this out until their class is signed so the kids are locked in?

“Yes, it will be hard to break the top 25 for one reason……we are NCSU.”

If State does get in the top 25 they will be 25. If they don’t beat Va Tech they drop to something like 50. Funny thing is ESPN buying the rights to ACC football. This means they will take the best game every weekend and this means the NC State game.

NC State v. Va Tech is another national game on ESPN. Great year for State to play well and ESPN buy the ACC game rights. I know people on the west coast that two weeks in a row that have been watching the Pack.

Great for recruiting unless ESPN continues their hope that Butch Davis will somehow end up with a better record than Dick Crum.

I missed most of the first half but arrived home in time to see the last 3 minutes then of course the second half.

Great win – at times a totally dominating performance, at times looked like we were either playing “pervert” defense or loafing.

Maybe not the best the best team in the league but certainly much improved from last year.

Next week more Jimmy V stuff (survive and advance).
