BREAKING NEWS: NFP – Austin may be suspended for the season

Hat tip to the quick find by the great team at TomahawkNation, who have to be following this story even more closely now that the University of Florida has been connected to it.

The National Football Post has a an entry linked here that TomahawkNation summarizes as follows:

* UNC athletics officials are not optimistic.
* Marvin Austin, one of not the top defensive tackles in the country is likely to be suspended for senior year.
* Wide receiver Greg Little, safety Deunta Williams, cornerback Kendric Burney and linebackers Bruce Carter and Quan Sturdivant could also face punishment.
* South Carolina TE Wesley Saunders and Austin have been told not to associate with each other.
* Austin and Saunders have been regularly comparing notes on agents and marketing representatives throughout the recruiting process, including what inducements the various businesses are offering to try to win them over.
* Smoking gun here appears to be trips to D.C. & South Beach

Poor “MA” had to quit his Twitter account and now this?!

I thought Butch Davis was supposed to be one of the guys who does things cleanly? Interesting that his name has been absent from much of the press surrounding this issue…

Wasn’t Little the guy who pushed our defender down in the end zone and then stood over and taunted him while our guy laid there with a torn ACL last year?

You are correct Sweet Jumper^ If was Jarvis Byrd who was injured when the play was clearly over…

Then this could not happen to a nicer guy.

Someone better turn off the internet in Chapel Hill, lol. TJ Yates just threw a twitter bomb that got intercepted by the NCAA. Butch Davis is reaching for the red flag.

“If was Jarvis Byrd who was injured when the play was clearly over…”

Can’t fault Little for finishing the play, but the taunting?… absolutely. He’s a punk thug.

Per the injury, I think it actually occurred before Byrd went down, or at least part of the injury. It looked to me as if Byrd’s knee was tweaked while he was being blocked, earlier in the play.

That would explain how easily he was manhandled and the lack of a reaction from Byrd to the injury when he went down, that is, he was already injured and thus, nothing to react to. He just lay there, motionless.

GA – Hard for unc-ch to throw Little & Austin under the bus as thugs, when the unc-ch 2010 football billboard on I-85 features exactly two players.

    You guessed ’em…
