Final Four Open Post

Post your thoughts about both games here. Will Butler continue its somewhat magical run against the Tom Izzo led Spartans? Will Duke be able to carry the torch for the ACC into the Championship game against a tough West Virginia squad.

Pick your winners….

    jhmd2000,

Duke serves a very important purpose for State fans, a purpose we are unfortunately not in a position to accomplish ourselves.

They beat Carolina like a drum on a regular basis and in general make life miserable for Carolina fans.

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

^Exactly. And K does it by developing his players, not by brining McDonald’s guy after McDonald’s guy. Who was Zoubek 3 years ago? Nolan Smith? Now those guys are central cogs in a championship run. I also love K for the ruthless way in which he beat UNC like a drum this year. It was as if to say “You’ve had some fun the past couple of years, but now, you’re dead.” And it was over after the first minute. One thing you cannot question about coach K is his love for the game and his intensity.

This is a championship game where I can’t go wrong. Butler is the feel good story, the mid-major playing in their hime town for all the little guys. Duke is the evil empire, but they hail from our ACC and have the best coach in college basketball. So either way I’ll be content.

I dislike both of the Blue Bloods…but while I dislike Duke, I HATE UNC to my core…so reluctantly I had to do a cost-benefit analysis and go w/ Duke having a sour taste in my mouth…

    For Duke:

    – Win for the ACC, Helps National Reputation of Conference
    – NC State Would’ve OUTPLAYED the National Champion This Year
    – Our Common Foe, UNC, Would Be SO Sick Over This
    – Butler Winning Might Rival Our Position As The Top “Cinderella” Team of All Time On Sport’s Lists, Maybe Diminish It’s Importance in The Media
    – Duke’s Win Would Be An Indicment Against One-&-Done Players & Policies

    Against Duke:

    – It’s Duke
    – Furthur Seperates Us Natonally From Our Neighbors (2 NCs Compared to 5 & 4)
    – Butler’s Story is A Great One & They Play The “Right Way”
    – If Our Coach Loses His Job In The Next Year or So, Brad Stevens Would Belong At the Near Top of Our Short List…

^ After our last coaching search, I have no hope of nabbing someone like Brad Stevens should our job come open…

Brad Stevens could turn out to be the next Paul Hewitt…or not.

Duke is not the Evil Empire. The Evil Empire sits somewhere in West Raleigh, collecting big bucks from the Wolfpack Club and NC taxpayers, doing its best not to rock the Wolfpack’s athletic boat. Keep the LTR dollars coming in, and don’t worry about those pesky ACC games anymore. With a 96-team format coming, the only thing that’ll matter will be making sure we rack up enough home cupcake wins to get to .500 overall. Piece of cake!

    Money never came so easy!

We need to bring Brad Stevens to Raleigh.

A couple of things here: I read john feinstein in the washington post this weekend. He says the “old saying” in the ACC is A B D(anybody but duke). He insinuates that it has replaced the “older ” saying of “ABC”. I guess he is trying to anoint his devils as the king. What a joke. I have never heard of ABD & it will never be ABD. First Duke is too small to have enough obnoxious fans to outnumber baby blue’s fans.

Second K is a regular guy who doesnt whine like the the Roys and Deans plus he wears regular coat & tie clothes rather than the ‘pretty’ Alexander Julian pastels for pretty boy Roy.

    ABD….How ridiculous.

Next does anyone know the score of the Sunday baseball game vs uva? I am traveling & cant get it on my phone. Thnx.

it’s abc for me. i actually want duke to win this just to ruffle the carowhina feathers.

i don’t think brad stevens is going anywhere, especially if he beats duke. hell, he might be the next coach k, not hewitt. we’ll get to see how good of a coach he is versus duke monday nite.. that will be a test.

a duke nc does remove us 1 more spot from them but puts them 1 closer to the tarbabies. i’m okay with that. coach k is arguably the best coach in the game, 4 nc’s would cement that role and i’m tired of hearing all this dean/roy greatness crap from chapel hill.. (bought success). i don’t like duke, but i do hate unc-ch. GO DUKE.

NC STATE baseball wins 7-6 in nine innings.

    Thank you Wolfy, great news.

Yeah, I thought there would be more articles on the UVA-NCSt game but only GoPack has one, ridiculous.

I picked Butler before the final four games to win it all and I will stick with that pick even though Duke looked great. Win or lose, Butler is the best coached team I have seen in along time. The media skimed over the fact he won the semi-final game with 2 of his top 3 players on the bench. I am not a big fan of their offensive style but they play what they have to to win. Best defensive team I have seen play basketball in along time.

So are you dreaming on a new successful coach at State????? Not gonna happen as long as we have our sorry excuse for an AD, Lee Fowler(Fowlup). But I guess it never hurts to dream, I hear dreams can come true. Let’s hope so, for the men’s basketball team. Maybe our new Chancellor can grant our wishes, starting with old Fowlup himself.

Butler is not really a Cinderella team (like the 83 Wolfpack team). Butler is a damned good team and has been all year. They were a pre-season top ten pick, have played good all year and have won something like 27 in a row. They were a #5 seed. They are just not in a “power” conference as such.

The 83 Pack team was a #10 seed, I think and would not have made the tourney if they had not won the ACC Tourney.

So, it is not anywhere near the same level of a Cinderella story.
