Wow! Scottie Wood just went Jimmy Chitwood on F$U.

Let’s not understate the importance of Mays knocking down those FTs.

  3. whope90 01/12/2010 at 10:20 PM #

Yes he did, he did do a Jimmy Chitwood on them?
Could we have turned the corner or are we still a three win team?

    Here is the starting line-up:
    T.Smith
    R Howell
Scott”Larry Bird (remember he is from indiana) “Wood
    Javi G
    F Degand

    Reserves:
    D.Horner
    Big L
    Josh Davis
J Mayes(maybe, he hit free throws)

I would not play anyone else, but I love the way Josh Davis hustles.

Is it too late to say this<"NC State 2010 National Champs"
    loll a little much?

this team (and fans) is schizophrenic

  6. Dr. BadgerPack 01/12/2010 at 10:24 PM #

Wish to heck they’d have run the picket fence once… 🙂

  7. eas 01/12/2010 at 11:04 PM #

Horner and CJ are 8th and 9th on my rotation list. Sorry but Horner sucks.

Good game Larry Bird and the rest of the pack. Still dislike the pro offense sets but heck we won!

They worked hard for this one.

  8. Wolfy__79 01/12/2010 at 11:06 PM #

i missed the game but heard mays pulled through with some big free throws. he’s our only reliable guard in that department. unless you include wood as a guard but i see him as a forward with his height and all.

i like the look of your starting lineup whope90. i’m all about josh davis, give him at most a year before he begins to really impress. he will certainly earn his playing time and by his senior campaign will really be amongst conference leaders… well, that’s my spin anyway. cj on the other hand, i wish he had “i’ve gotta work for it” attitude!

    solid win tonight young men!

  9. gcpack 01/12/2010 at 11:07 PM #

Ok, now you see that the simplest of all in bball is just to hit the freethrows. I mentioned yesterday that all the hand wringing over coaching , sub patterns, etc. was nothing but panic.

Tonite State shoots a normal % & everything else falls into place. Will it happen every game? Probably not but this is Lowes best team & they will continue to improve as the season goes on.

  10. Wolfy__79 01/12/2010 at 11:10 PM #

    agreed gcpack.

  11. AveryPage 01/12/2010 at 11:11 PM #

horner sucks. with him being a senior he should be a leader on the team.
    cj sucks
    and degang sucks–bad.

  12. packalum44 01/12/2010 at 11:17 PM #

I’ve mentioned we’ll have to hit 50% percent from 3 point land to win games. Glad to see Wood shatter expectations although I’m not surprised. The kid had a 50 point game in an AAU game.

  13. gcpack 01/12/2010 at 11:20 PM #

So do you Avery . Go to your teams page.

i think we’ll still have our young moments but tonight is evidence that we will also win some of our conference matchups this year. i don’t like horner all that much, he’s too tall to be outside for me and no strong enough under the basket to play on my team. cj? i have no answers for him, unless he got to know costner to well and is suffering from a similar pitiful attitude. degand,? no comment other than he can be helpful going forward during certain times this year?

  15. HPWolf 01/12/2010 at 11:37 PM #

Hey Sid, My hats off to you. I give you the blame when you lose so I’ll give you an atta boy when State wins. You had the boys hustling tonight and believing. You should however kiss Woods ass because you owe him that much for the win. You also got the kids making their free throws and that was huge. Now, can you do that about 10 more times and we’ll let you keep your job. Deal?

  16. waxhaw 01/12/2010 at 11:54 PM #

Horner’s biggest problem is that he is slow.

  17. TOB4PREZ 01/13/2010 at 12:05 AM #

Horner is serviceable and capable of trash points (offensive putbacks, the occassional backdoor cut) and a decent threat on the pick and pop from 3-land. As Howell continues to play himself into shape, he’ll continue to garner more and more of Horner’s minutes, but Dennis is not awful.
Scott Wood is going to be a star in the ACC before it’s all said and done… he shook the freshman jitters about 8 games ago, and has gone 25-48 from deep over the last 7 games. He’s a 4 year guy and there are going to be a lot of fans from blue fanbases that will learn to loathe him before he’s done here. His stroke is impeccable.
Tracy is still our man, and he’ll be there all year long…. tonight’s great shooting w/the 3ball didn’t result in a great night for TS, but it will have an effect on the upcoming games, as teams will hesitate to sag in on him as much, for fear the Pack can light them up from the perimeter.
    GO PACK!

How ’bout that Sidney Lowe! We got us a coach, BAYYYY-BEEEEE!!!!

  19. Wolf-n-Atl 01/13/2010 at 12:18 AM #

I think Horner has played fairly well this year. I think he must have been hurt late in the game tonight, because he looked off and I can’t see how they would leave Howell in over him when the other team is looking to foul us. Although there are times Horner makes me upset, he has done nothing but give his all to this school and worked hard to get better as he fought through injuries. He had a big 3 tonight when FSU was getting back into it, so you have to give him some credit.

  20. TOB4PREZ 01/13/2010 at 12:25 AM #

^^^^he’s definitely better than the other kid that was supposed to come in with him that starts for Florida (Dan Werner).
    Horner serves a purpose.

    Keys to the game:
    *Wood, obviously
*fsu’s PG. our PG’s were better, which helped Wood, and helped us slow their bigs. Nice to be on this side of the PG advantage for once
*rebounding – Smith, Howell, Vandy, Wood all strong (Horner 0-fer?)
*Degand/Mays hitting FT’s and controlling the game (especially key since Javi had a pretty bad showing)
*refs were terrible – broke up the rhythm, to our advantage as an underdog/road team (not saying refs gave us the game, just inconsistent – I thought on both ends. But, are fsu fans complaining right now that refs cost them the game? Probably)

Got to credit Lowe for the win, I don’t see how you can complain about coaching in this one. How would you gameplan fsu? crash the boards, quicken the pace, put pressure on their guards, and find an answer on O for when they double Tracy. What did Sid do – start Degand, get the guys on the boards, use Vandy and Howell… excellent game plan. No way you can substantiate that a 7 point win as a 10-point dog on the road is somehow these guys winning in spite of the coach.

Does this prove Sid’s the right guy? Of course not – see UVA – he’s still got a lot of work to do. This doesn’t prove much, except that the chicken littles calling an 0-for-ACC were, as usual, overreacting.

I think we’ll continue to be up and down, chance to beat anybody (maybe not Duke), but we’ll fare better against weaker guards and struggle with better ones. We’ll improve as Howell does and he earns more minutes from Horner. Nice to not have to put Painter out there at all.

    Good win.

  22. blpack 01/13/2010 at 12:43 AM #

Good win. Caught FSU on a short turn around after Md beat them and thank God for Leonard Hamilton.

  23. wolfpackattack89 01/13/2010 at 12:53 AM #

i just wish we could win the ones we’re supposed to win. damn.

  24. fullmoon1 01/13/2010 at 1:52 AM #

“i just wish we could win the ones we’re supposed to win. damn”.

I hear ya. I think this team is so mysterious im not sure which ones we are supposed to win anymore lol. I had penciled in that we beat Va at home and lose to FS away, so I guess we broke even by my predictions.

As far as horner goes he hasn’t quite been the same since he racked his knee with Warner in the Va game. I think he is an asset and capable but need to shake these slumps he is prone to going through. I think his presence alone alters drives by opposing teams.

btw i like the new live chat thingy, thanks Medlin. I was entertained reading it while i listened to the radio feed, much better than watching and being subjected to fss announcers.
