All of the “outmatched” being true, the fact that we inbounds into the corner against a press… every single time…. is absurd. Inexcusable. Poor coaching. Poor game planning.

Is it just me or is State running the same offence I used to run in Junior league basketball!!!!!

Mays and Howell deserve their time today. Both are carrying this horrible game.

I actually think we’ve handled the press okay, not too many turnovers, and burned it a couple of times. Better than I expected. It’s the halfcourt where we’re getting abused by Booker, et. al.

Davis, Wood and the Aussie should be playing more. I give up….I am just as confused as Lowe is I guess.

If Purnell would take our job, then I would hire him a heart beat and not talk to another coach. IMO, a coach with his style of play might even keep the recruiting class together.

That has to have been one of the longest and ugliest first halves I’ve seen at the RBC in a long time.

  8. Rochester 01/16/2010 at 2:00 PM #

Agreed on Purnell. The guy is a good coach. His teams keep getting better and better. Bring back Larry Shyatt. He was always good for a few clueless “deer in the headlight” looks during a game.

All we need to do to come back in the second half is somehow sneak LeBron James into a uniform, maybe in place of CJ Williams.

Anybody who wonders what a good coaching change will do should take a look at VA. Not relevant I know but VA was suppose to be the doormat of the acc.

Not that there’s an excuse for the rest of the game, but that last play was simply inexcusable. That was a lack of hustle all the way. We are playing right now like we wish this game were over.

Mays has twice backed it out on a fast break. better than forcing the turnover, but not what we’ve got to have at PG. He’s outplaying Javi last few games, though.

  12. eas 01/16/2010 at 2:14 PM #

Good point ghost. Still Mays and Degand should start next game no doubt.

  13. theghost 01/16/2010 at 2:23 PM #

my gracious – Mays has become a scoring threat. He’s gotten us back in this game. He’s got that sneaky “look at this guy, there’s no way we have to worry about him” style of play. But it’s working for him today.

Shouldn’t get our hopes up, though. I don’t think we’ve got enough to win this one. Maybe they’ll prove me wrong.

  14. Rochester 01/16/2010 at 2:23 PM #

Javi has regressed over the last few weeks and Mays has redeemed himself. He’s clearly the better option right now and I wouldn’t have guessed that was possible a couple of weeks ago.

We are showing some signs of life. Kind of nice to have something to cheer about after that awful first half.

    Mays—channeling Engin Atsur!

choppy video feed is killing me…

I don’t know what a foul is anymore – on either end of the court.

  18. eas 01/16/2010 at 2:36 PM #

Acc refs are consistently showing why they are the worst in the business.

  19. theghost 01/16/2010 at 2:40 PM #

on that one, it looked like we assaulted Grant to take that rebound from him – no call.

  20. Thompson44 01/16/2010 at 2:54 PM #

You gotta love the effort regardless of the outcome.

  21. NJpack 01/16/2010 at 2:55 PM #

Well, if nothing else out of this game, Howell proved he deserves all of Horner’s minutes. Congrats to Mays for a good game, if Degand and him are clicking, play them 35 minutes a game.

  22. theghost 01/16/2010 at 2:57 PM #

This is the difference between having a PG and not having a PG. We got back in this thing when Stitt blew his ankle.

Great game by Howell, but needs to work on his 3-point shooting. Specifically, not doing it.

  23. eas 01/16/2010 at 2:58 PM #

What a big difference having Javi and Horner on the bench today.

  24. Thompson44 01/16/2010 at 2:58 PM #

Degand has really stepped up his effort. Lots of hustle.

  25. Thompson44 01/16/2010 at 3:01 PM #

I hope this is going to spell the end of the Javi error.
