“Welcome to the Football Apocalypse” Post Game Thread

Have at it, folks. I’m out of words to describe this horse crap. Don’t tell me that we’re young, don’t tell me to be patient. The football product Tom O’Brien and staff have put on the field the past two weeks has been embarrassing. We might as well wave the white flag – our players and coaches (to a man) sure did that today.

100% agree….didn’t go back in after halftime….left C-F after the 3rd..never clapped or cheered today…until the team earns it i won’t spend the energy

I have never been so embarassed of State football…remember when we won the mythical ‘State’ championship last year? What exactly are we shooting for in the future now?

  3. PoppaJohn 10/10/2009 at 7:12 PM #

TOB better own this one. Never have I been so embarrassed by a State team. I wish I had left earlier and not seen that catastrophe.
And now hoops starts and it gets worse.

I’m so glad i came home for fall break.

Hey so I have an idea, if Frank Spaziani keeps losing at BC, can he please come be our defensive coordinator? I think we’ll see a few more loses before we start our typical 4 game win streak. Talk about pathetic.

  6. JaxPackMan 10/10/2009 at 7:18 PM #

It’s hard to understand what the problems are. Is it lack of talent? Is inability to be coached? Is scheme? I have to believe the coaches are giving them the right info.

As much speed as we have, I don’t understand why they can’t get down field on a kick-off and tackle the guy before the 35.

Pass defense is a joke. Are they playing zone because they can’t play man-to-man? Wake and Duke ate us alive on those open spots in the zones with defenders standing there picking their noses and smelling butts. I sure hope they are recruiting some new corners.

But above all else, I really hate losing to those Dook SOB’s.

We live for a brighter day…Long live the Wolfpack…Go to Hell Carolina!

Our entire athletic department is a freaking joke. I think it’s time to quit the Wolfpack Club and wash my hands of this crap for good.

I gave this team the benefit of the doubt last week. Not anymore. This team has problems at its core and I don’t see how its gonna get fixed. Oh, and Justin Byars just tried to tackle the air again.

I did that after Foulup issued his great INSULTING “Letter to the Fans.” I haven’t given a cent since to NCSU anything – and I will not until somebody with vision, and the energy and drive to fulfill it, takes charge!

Well wolfpack fan its amazing how we always seem to steal carolina’s negative thunder. We been calling for Lowe’s head in year 3 What about Obrien’s

  11. robzucc 10/10/2009 at 8:08 PM #

It’s going to come down to and should be that, Sisney Lowe
will be the one that brings wining back to this school. We are
the laughing stock of this conference and Country and, if you
think differently well you have that right but, I challenge
all wolfpack fans and Club Members to boycott this crap if
nothing is done by the adminstration this week.
If this was Clemson, South Carolina or most SEC schools
there would be an emergency meeting taking place after this
poor excuse of a product put on the field.

I totally agree. Some of the posters here have dumped on Sidney since he set foot on campus as our coach. It is time to place blame on TOB for the total pile he has dumped on us. This is the worst team since the days of Tom Reed and a 3-9 finish will make it worse than any of Tom’s concoctions. Perhaps TOB should go ahead and retire to Charleston where he has a house waiting for him.

They have both sucked at NC State, plain and simple. I see no difference between the two at this stage.

  14. msapack 10/10/2009 at 10:01 PM #

Its been awhile since I’ve been able to attend a State game. Today’s was the first in a few years. I’m not crazy about the game experience…it seems awfully contrived compared with what I remember. Anyway, may question is: Is it normal now for so many people to not return after halftime? Granted the game being played was poor quality, but at the time it was 21-21. I’d guess there were 3 or 4 thousand fewer in their seats at the second half. Is there a reason for that, or is that what Pack football has degenerated to?

  15. ryebread 10/10/2009 at 10:27 PM #

msapack: The mass exodus is the norm given the pass outs. It has been for years.

As for the game, I watched it on DVR. We stink in every facet — swful defense, awful special teams, dropped passes, stupid plays and most of all awful coaching. This is terrible football.

Imagine how bad we’d be without RW and TB. I actually feel bad for these guys.

October 10th, 2009 at 8:58 pm They have both sucked at NC State, plain and simple. I see no difference between the two at this stage.

I’ll tell you the difference between the two. Sidney has been questioned
since day one and actually contributed to 83 National Championship and,
by next year might have the top 5 recruiting class in the nation. He
has been dealing with Herb S. players and to not have coached a college
teambefore coming here get them in his first year to the ACC Championship game is not bad.

TOB was compared to his success to his BC teams with to much emphasis on the consecutive bowls and not enough emphasis on never getting to the top of the mountain.
Now you can see we were3 steps slower to DUKE today and, all adjustments are made after the game not when needed during the game. Now at best he has a top 25 recruiting class. Just enough to keep his job. I can go on but the bottom line here is he’s not going anywhere so, dont worry TOB fans you wont have to respond to the question if someone tells you we need to fire him.
The real issue here is who has the insight to see it’s not working on
defense and at least change the DC But, what might even be more alarming is it looks like TOB has or is losing his team. Usually in a game
when the offense cannot score the defense gets tired or wears out and
basically gives up. Well tonight the offense might have not given up but I know they felt the pressure to score everytime and thats kind of the same thing.
There is no guarantee Sidney or TOB can coach with better recruits but, I’ll try
my luck with Sid coaching 5 guys than TOB coaching 11 at the same time.
    the same thing.

Does anyone honestly expect victory next week at an Away game, when we can’t beat Duke at Home? A decent quarterback can beat this team, as we have proved completely incapable of stopping the pass for the last two weeks.

The sickening part is that Duke also shut down our offense in the second half. I just sat there in Section 17 shaking my head. Weren’t we supposed to be better this year?

  18. Alpha Wolf 10/10/2009 at 11:36 PM #

It’s a bit predictable to call for the coach’s head after a loss like this, and you all know it will never happen.

Go get a good night’s sleep and relax, we’ll still stink tomorrow. It’s your lot as a State fan. I have given up on any team ever nattering much. If the administration doesn’t really care, why should I?

  19. PhilipRiversWannabe 10/11/2009 at 1:02 AM #

I’m not calling for O’Brien’s head just yet. Yeah we suck. Our offense started out great. And yes I know that we screwed ourselves over in the 2nd half. But if I want anyone’s head, it’s Mike Archer’s. Never in my life have I seen such poor tackling. Nor have I EVER seen such soft coverage. WTF?!? Yeah I know he runs a bend but dont break, but guess what it broke! We just started the Thad Lewis for Heisman campaign for God’s sake. Get rid of him and Justin Byers ASAP!

See you guys next year. I have better things to do than watch a second-rate product being forwarded on my dime. By the way, I’m NOT!!! looking forward to basketball. Here’s to 2010. I’m off to watch my Chelsea Blues ’til May, at least I know they’ll be contenders. More than I can say for my alma mater in their athletic competition; maybe someday we’ll actually matter.

  21. packalum44 10/11/2009 at 8:22 AM #

Mike Archer is not very good. Wow. FML.

  22. TheAliasTroll 10/11/2009 at 10:31 AM #

wow, some of you guys really are the lunatic fringe.

  23. Alpha Wolf 10/11/2009 at 11:17 AM #

I know I don’t feel any better about this after a good night’s sleep.

I don’t think that we’ll win more than once the rest of the year.

My support for Mike Archer’s defensive scheme was bend and don’t break, but oops, my pessimism just hung 49 points on THAT.

  24. whalepack1 10/11/2009 at 11:37 AM #

this game was even worse for us that watched on tv. with the slow motion replays it was easy to see that our db’s had no clue as to who they were supposed to defend. JOE PATE are you still in the office? HELP!!!!!!

  25. PackerInRussia 10/11/2009 at 12:47 PM #

For those who have never seen such bad tackling (I didn’t see this game, but have seen the others), just watch a Redskins game. At least these are college guys doing it and not “pros”.
