More Immediate DL Help On the Way?

If this Athens Banner-Herald article is correct, the defensive line for the 2009 and 2010 Wolfpack will soon get even tougher:

Lemon, who has attended Georgia Military College after being booted off the team at Georgia and suspended by the university, expects to continue his football career at North Carolina State this fall, according to his junior college coach.

“That’s the plan,” GMC coach Bert Williams said. “I know they have a spot for him and were just waiting to make sure everything culminated the way it was expected to.”

If a no-nonsense disciplinarian like Tom O’Brien is willing to give this young man a second chance, then I’m 100% behind this move. It’s been a really long time since NC State football looked so strong in the trenches.

Hat tip to SFN commenter McPete. Football can’t get here soon enough!

looks like the UNX waiver wire is now in full swing. they just throw 4 names out there at the end of the article naming kids who they signed but wont enroll cause Butch over-recurited.

Sounds like ole Butchie has been slinging spaghetti at the wall and seeing which noodles stick. Maybe this sort of thing goes on just about everywhere (at least to some degree), but it seems like Butch is a lot worse than any other coach I’ve ever heard of at this.

I wonder if Chief is offering scollies to people who are highly rated, but knowing they’ll likely not get in to increase the rankings of his recruiting classes. He could then use the high ranking as an inducement to recruits on the fence to come aboard.

I got that male mental-pause Keg. And being so slow mentally, I react funny to stupid shit like suggesting that Richt released Lemon because he only had 6 tackles in 7 games as a RS freshman. But I’m glad to see you jump to defend that kind of thinking.

Wasn’t Boyd the highly rated receiver we went after as well?

Hey! Watch your stick, man. 😉
You noticed, eh? Your avatar is like your underwear, you ought to change it every week or so. You missed Smilin’ Bob. I’ll go back to Ursa doing her scent-rolling soon enough.

I’ve been out of town for the last week. Just saw this. I’ve sent some emails to both Macon, Georgia lawyers and Athens, Georgia lawyers. When I know more I’ll relay it to SFN and let them decide whether it’s worthy of putting up on the web.

Anything said in open court when the plea was entered into is technically public record, so if I can locate a classmate who was in the court room I should be able to learn exactly what happened. Unless it’s first hand knowledge of clearly public information that is undoubtedly accurate, I won’t share it.

Some of you guys need to seriously chill out. Maturity has little to do with age.

According to Rivals the 5 players BD pick one( ran off, did not qualify, will be a future “medical Hardship) were ranked as follows:
    Stars
    Hadley 3
    Davis 3
    Dixon 4
    Boyd 4
    Tate 4

Here is the revised UNX recruiting:

    5 Stars 4 Stars 3 Stars
    Before 1 13 10
    NOW 1 10 8

I guess this would drop Butchie quite a bit in the rankings, but we will never see a revised list. Kind of like the front page news that is wrong and a retraction comes on page 16 a week later.

“Guess you bring a gun to a knife fight! Most of us old timers do, my kinda attitude!”
Hard to argue with a man who includes himself when his point is made.
I likely wouldn’t have commented if I hadn’t been so pissed off reading about his mother being murdered. And right after that UGA appealing to the NCAA for permission to establish a fund for Michael and his little brother. I was Mt. Helena waiting to happen.
    `
No excuse for my going off on you, Keg. Sorry about that.

Thanks Greywolf. Didn’t take it personal. Thanks

Greywolf I think you got Chief’s number when it comes to recruiting. Its all about the number of stars beside the name.

Hm. This doesn’t sound like a TOB player to me. But one has to assume that TOB and the staff know what they are doing here barring evidence to the contrary.

I trust TOB and staff. I’m sure they discussed this plenty before making the decision to accept him. I’d be curious to know if the judge and/or jury had any public comments on his case. Maybe they said something to let the world know this really isn’t such a bad kid. From what I’ve heard, the guy he beat up was good friends with the guy that killed his mother. Maybe he only did what just about all of us would have done in his shoes.

There’s always more than one side to a story, but I don’t think TOB is desperate for players by any stretch of the imagination. If he was, then maybe there would be reason to doubt him on this. But I think his reputation earns him a free pass on this one.
