NC State is a 12.5 Underdog to UNC

It’s very hard to believe that UNC-CH is close to a two touchdown favorite against the Wolfpack. It’s a lot of fun going into this game with all of the sitting on Carolina’s shoulders.

Additionally, it has been announced that Cameron Sexton will start for Tarheels.

Butch has changed his mind about starting Sexton. Evidently, the qb job is up for grabs. I’d much rather face Sexton than Yates.

“Greywolf, Barchuck? Gosh, we sure do remember worthless stuff don’t we?”

You got the right, but when our granddaughters’ Tar hole husbands ask us what were we doing in the 60’s, we won’t have to tell ’em “Playing with my dick in Chapel Hill.” 😉

highstick, Do you remember that inside reverse Earl used to run? Called it the scissors play. I guaran-damn-tee ya Earl would have Brown and Eugene on the field at the same time. Contrary to what most people would think, Brown would be in Barchuck’s position running that inside reverse.

I’m going back to bed as soon as I can remember why I got up in the first place.

That RB from Florida looks like someone to look forward to wearing Red. If memory serves me that was mostly Jr. year clips and word on the street is that Sr year videos show that he truly is the goods. Stay healthy, please.

We also got another verbal from a DB out of Palm Beach matching the amount of verbals from NC. Although he would never admit it, TOB and his staff have got to be a little bummed out. They did great last year in state but this years best talent seems to be rushing into Butch Davis arms.

That just makes it all the better to whoop them come Sat., and plant the seed early in these fine athletes that they chose a school because it was the “in thing to do”. According to Butch the recruits love those new shirts, well if thats not style or substance then nothing is.

Maybe it’s just me but there there seems to be a lot of similarities between Butch’s first years at UNC and Chuck’s first years at State. Both programs grabbed national attention early on. Both programs had coaches who were considered “big time” and “rising” coaches. Both coaches were discussed as leaving the program. Remember when we thought that Bowden may be leaving FS and that Chuck would be named the next HC. But dispite the national rankings and media darling attention both schools finish the year with mediocre ACC records and lose to teams they shouldn’t. My belief is UNC will finsh with a 4-4 record this year. Sound familiar. Maybe 4 years from now, if Butch stays at UNC, we’ll see his tenure end the same way Chuck’s did.
My biggest hope is that since State is now in the position that UNC was in the early Rivers days, that we now serve as the spoiler to their “big” seasons.
I also would not be surprised to see Butch jump ship if they end the season 8-4. Think of it as the stock market. His stock is high currently and this would be the time to cash out for the Auburn or Tennessee job. If he waits until next year he may continue to finish mid to upper ACC and see his value go down. Something a coach with the BIG head Butch has would never want to see.

“Although he would never admit it, TOB and his staff have got to be a little bummed out.” (about instate recruiting)

    vt,
I don’t mean this as disagreement, and I have to wonder if TOB gets bummed out about anything. Chief Davis with his ego might get bummed out cause he “looked bad” last year losing out on recruits to TOB.
Last year TOB and his staff blitzed the HS coaches. I wonder if Chief did a similar thing to “catch up” and TOB thought something was handled. Maybe the HS coaches are fickle enough to need some attention every year. Regardless, I don’t mean to be questioning TOB’s methods. Just wondering cause there’s not much else to do til Saturday. WTF do I know?

Nav, I don’t think you can compare Butch and Chuck much beyond what you described. Chuck had never been a HC before State and BD had been a HC at UM and the Browns, so hype + recruiting may be where the comparisons end. And I’m not even going into the personality differences.

So, any explanation–other than record–as to why we are struggling so much with in-state recruiting? We did so well last year, I figured we’d at least split with UNC this year, but they are eating our lunch it seems. I guess we’ll have to wait and see with Nixon, Bond and some others. I would rather take my chances with top-notch linemen and ‘average’ skill position players any day. The game is won with an efficient QB and big uglies in the trenches.
