Election Day Diversion: John Murtha, the Wolfpacker / Did Fowler & Vaughn-Myers forge Barry O’s birth certificate?

Murtha

As you can see from the Wolfpack sign above, the evidence is pretty over-whelming.

Maybe the curse of NC State will finally work for all of our benefit and will result in this stain on humanity losing his seat and drifting off into obscurity. Maybe Murtha and Tom Daschle can find somwhere to play some shuffleboard together. Iran maybe?

In other shocking election day news, it appears that WorldNetDaily has finally found Obama’s ‘lost’ birth certificate. But…look at it carefully (below). It appears to closely match Lee Fowler’s report on NC State Athletics that was leaked to the public by “oldtrenchfighter” on Pack’s Pride’s message boards. Coincidence?

On this issue we can agree which may be a sign of the coming apocalypse.

I prefer to think of it as a Texas Longhorn sign.

There’s going to be a lot of hurt feelings one way or the other tonight and tomorrow.

He remained in the Reserves after his discharge from active duty until he volunteered for service in the Vietnam War, serving from 1966 to 1967, serving as a battalion staff officer (S-2 Intelligence Section), receiving the Bronze Star with Valor device, two Purple Hearts and the Vietnamese Cross of Gallantry. He retired from the Reserves as a colonel in 1990, receiving the Navy Distinguished Service Medal.

First report what branch you are active in or retired from. Tell us why you can know all there is to know about NC State sports, only to ignore that our Military tradition at NC State is too extensive, too honorable and has had too many brave grads killed or wounded in defending our freedom to ever take a crap on another soldier.

I don’t give a rat’s what people say about politics of war, because the men and women who stand on the wall always fix the problems these leaders always make. That is part of NC States tradition, take your “stain” comment and put it in somewhere where folks are trying to make new traditions at this institution.

SFN: Are you serious? What the F*@#& does John Murtha service have to do with NC State’s military tradition? And, the idea that Jihad John Murtha of the white flag of surrender mindset is some kind of military hero is absurd.

But, you are entitled to your opinion on the topic…at least for now. Just wait until the ‘fairness’ doctrine comes back. Then, you will be entitled to your opinion and I will not be entitled to mine.

    Well said, vtpackfan.

When I think patriotism and wars…how can one not think if Jihad Jack Murtha!?

I just must be one of those gun toting, bible clinching, racist rednecks that he likes so much.

Guys…it is friggin ELECTION DAY. We don’t live on Mars. I don’t care what your political views are. Go for it. This is one of your only chances to ever really discuss politics here. Have fun.

But, I also don’t care in the slightest your opinion of the ‘appropriateness’ of this topic. We have been consistent over the years on this issue regardless of the topic at hand — you are free to comment on the topic at hand, but your perspectives of what we choose to put on the blog are not welcome. There are plenty of blogging software packages available to you to run your own blog. But, please don’t spend our bandwidth criticizing our decision of how we choose to run our blog.

Our 15+ million hits per year tell us that we are doing something right.

    Thanks!

  6. BigRed 11/04/2008 at 12:08 PM #

And why was my first comment removed??

SFN: So…after I just wrote that we don’t allow posts telling us how to run the blog…you write another post criticizing how we run the blog and then ask why your post is removed? Really? You can’t figure it out?

Talk politics all you want. If you want to talk about how to run a blog, then go start your own. I’m not concerned with your opinions on the matter.

Finally censored!!! EXCELLENT. Makes me feel dirty… or maybe not so much me.

    On topic:
Military history or not, Murtha has said some WILDLY stupid things about portions of his state recently. Rednecks and racists? True or not, WTF?

  10. Dogbreath 11/04/2008 at 12:56 PM #

I much prefer the non-political orientation of Statefansnation.com, but if this is the thread today, I will swing away.

Statefans wrote: “…Jihad Jack Murtha” (this is a joke right?)

Murtha left Washington and Jefferson College in 1952 to join the Marine Corps and was awarded the American Spirit Honor Medal for displaying outstanding leadership qualities during training. Murtha rose through the ranks to become a drill instructor at Parris Island and was selected for Officer Candidate School at Quantico, Virginia. Murtha was then assigned to the Second Marine Division, Camp Lejeune, North Carolina.

Murtha remained in the Marine Corps Reserves, and ran a small business, Johnstown Minute Car Wash. He also attended the University of Pittsburgh on the G.I. Bill, and received a degree in economics. Murtha later took graduate courses from the Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Murtha married his wife Joyce on June 10, 1955. They have three children and live in Johnstown.

In 1959, Murtha, then a captain, took command of the 34th Special Infantry Company, Marine Corps Reserves, in Johnstown.

Now perhaps Mr. Murtha is old, senile, and needs to be put out to pasture, but to suggest that this man, who shed blood in defense of this great nation, is a jihadist…well, you need to do yourself a favor and turn off Fox.

If I want to induce vomiting by reading a bunch of race-bating, lies and distortion, jingoistic hate speech, I would go to the other sight.

Here is hoping Obama pulls 350 EVs, a supermajority in the Senate, and we get to witness Cheney, Bush, Rove, et.al froghopped to the nearest federal courthouse to answer for their long list of high crimes and treason charges.

Brahsome.com, my second favorite blog on the internets, has a Fox News video clip that ends with a nice jab at Chapel Hill. The set up: young boy (clearly under the direction of his parents because kids don’t take sides in politics unless their parents brain wash them so they can’t make their own decisions one day – that crosses party lines mind you) tries to yank a McCain sign from electrical engineer’s yard and “gets a handful of volts” (brahsome’s words that made me chuckle…not mine).

Some of the contributors at brahsome.com are State grads (or at least West Raleigh’s very own version of Van Wilder) and they regular offer a great laugh to those who can read. Check it out.

How come anyone with military service who speaks out against some aspect of one conflict or another is branded as a traitor (or similarly has their patriotism questioned)? I thought we lived in a democracy where the military was a tool of the elected government, not a military dictatorship where the armed forces get a free pass for any thing and everything?
P.S.- Here’s hoping we snag John Wall

NCSU ROTC – US Army- – Murtha is like Denny Crane- good for laughs but he lost it somewhere in the past. Anyone serving on active duty as he did deserves our thanks and he has mine for that period of his life. However when he went over to the dark side , falsely accusing our soldiers of atrocities during a time of war , he kind of gives up his right to our respect don’t you think? Or have you not kept up with this aspect of his service vtpackfan? On a purely political note I voted for McCain today- first time I have ever voted for a democrat.

Replublicans campaign good and Democrats govern good. Fact. The reality of a mandate of the Democrats is scaring the shit out of alot of people, that we all agree on. What they say outwardly is that they have “gut feelings” that our country will be worse off, and that is a farce.

Democrats will have control of Washington, just as Republicans did 8 years ago. That feeling in your gut is an intuitive one, it’s a sinking feeling that no President in 232 years has set the bar so low.

    Dwight D. Eisenhower, 1961

“Th[e] conjunction of an immense military establishment and a large arms industry is new in the American experience. The total influence — economic, political, even spiritual — is felt in every city, every State house, every office of the Federal government. We… must not fail to comprehend its grave implications. Our toil, resources and livelihood are all involved; so is the very structure of our society.

In the councils of government, we must guard against [their] acquisition of unwarranted influence, whether sought or unsought, by the militaryindustrial complex. The potential for the disastrous rise of misplaced power exists and will persist.

We must never let the weight of this combination endanger our liberties or democratic processes. We should take nothing for granted. Only an alert and knowledgeable citizenry can compel … peaceful methods and goals, so that security and liberty may prosper together…”

Ike was wrong about a million things. He should have grabbed McCarthy’s nuts and pulled them out of his nose when McCarthy went after Gen. Marshall.

But that exit speech from the WH is one of the most telling things a president has ever said on the way out. It’s like a blueprint for the next 30 years of American history.

Voting for the lesser of two evils is still voting for Evil. Just look at the flip flop McCain has made just to win the R nomination. The R’s and D’s are power hungry and will do anything, say anything, promising anything to get into power.

Heck, listen to their proposals. Free money for these folks here, free money for those folks over there. How to pay for it? By taxing someone you don’t know.

It all reminds me of that Twilight Zone in which a person is presented with a box. Open the box and they’ll be given $1,000,000 but someone they don’t know will die. Eventually, they give in to greed and open the box. The mysterious person comes back to give the guy his money and take back the box. When asked what he’ll do with the box, the mysterious guy replies, “Oh, give it someone that doesn’t know you.”. Yikes!

    Elect Bob Barr 2008!

I have always been a McCain fan – ever since hearing him on the Don Imus show several times. He is a good man and truly wants to do right for this country. I would have voted him over hillary without blinking. But that said, I really hate his choice in running mate and dont like the way he was pandered to the Republican base on many, many issues (such as abortion). But I have a lot of admiration for Obama, and would much rather have him representing the US on the international scene. I think McCain is totally wrong on the way to fight the war on terror, which is with force. I think the terror problem is in many ways because of American interventionist policies. Up until the 50s or 60s the Arab world adored the US and hated all of Europe, that has changed quit a bit. But on a smaller scale – I am shocked and appalled by Liddy Dole’s ads (when did she become Jesse Helms) which are a disgrace to the great state of North Carolina. On the positive, I am proud of the turn out in my state, remember if you do not vote you have no right to complain.

  21. PackMan97 11/04/2008 at 2:49 PM #

Otis, if you’ve seen McCain on Imus…and still support him that’s kinda scary.

“I’d rather have a clean government than one where first amendment rights were being respected”

    That’s really scary.

  22. Otis 11/04/2008 at 2:54 PM #

^ I did not see him on Imus – but listened to him on the radio years ago when it came on the local station (the sports talk one – if has got to be at least 4 years ago). But I agree with your opinion of that comment. It seems like McCain running for president is nothing like the McCain I remember from before. And in my post I thought I mentioned that would rather have the “other guy”,

    OK, so let’s talk politics:

First of all the Obama birth certificate fuss is a bunch of bullshit, period. It has been produced, and it has been verified by the Hawaii Department of Health.

Yet that’s not good enough because of persistent e-mails and folks like WorldNet Daily? Are you kidding me? Anonymous e-mails and partisan hacks that make Bill O’Reilly and Keith Olberman look like straight-up journalists trumps the spokesman for the germane department?

WorldNet is the same group that on September 13, 2001 published a column stating that “God (has) raised up Shiite Islam as a sword against America” on 9/11. The same group that said that KGB defector Alexander Litvinenko was a Muslim who was supplying Islamists with nuclear materials which ultimately poisoned him. Never mind he died from polonium poisoning and that you cannot make fissionable materials from polonium.

Their creme de la creme however are their rantings against the North American Union “shadow government” that controls Canada, the US and Mexico. I guess this replaces the now discredited idea of the Tri-Lateral Commission or the Illuminati in the never-ending parade of Shadow-Governments-That-Control-Us-All and that only Michael Medved and WorldNet Daily know about it.

Yep, quality news organization there. But hey, like Litvinenko and the NAU, they know that Obama is a secret Muslim born of foreign origins.

    Meh.
