Amato Says He Holds No Grudges Toward N.C. State

amato1.jpgFormer N.C. State football coach Chuck Amato said Friday he doesn’t hold any grudges toward the Wolfpack, but admits that his return to Raleigh on Thursday will be an emotional one.  In the article, Amato also said that he and legendary coach Bill Parcells had  a conversation about The Chest’s days on the Wolfpack sideline:

Amato said Parcells told him, “Chuck, don’t hold grudges. People in the football world know what you did at North Carolina State and how far you brought that program. You did things nobody else could get accomplished. You raised about $100 million for facilities, which are second to none in country, and you brought enthusiasm and excitement to that place.”

It’s nice that Chuck doesn’t hold a grudge (rolling eyes).

Alum or not, Chuck rode the buzz started by Norm Chow and Philip Rivers for his entire tenure. In my opinion the new Carter Finley is the house Rivers built and had very, very little to do with Amato.
I wish him no ill will, neither should anyone calling themselves a State fan. Anyone that boos him Thursday night should be b1tch slapped for being ignorant. He is just one of a long list of many coordinators that are not cut out to be HC’s.

I would never boo CTC. I don’t think we should ever boo the opposing team/coach but that’s just me. I do think we underacheived with PR as quarterback and I am not sorry a change was made. I continue to see FSU make the same kinds of mistakes that CTCs teams were known for. I hope a well disaplined NCSU team can take advantage of that this Thursday night. Go Pack!

Even Bunting, after all the crap he talked?

I wish it to be known that I hold no grudge against NC State for not allowing me to graduate. True, I skipped out most of my senior year and failed half my classes. But, I was on the right track. They just couldn’t understand my vision. I was a genius in waiting. My old pal Albert Einstein was reminding me the other day how much good I did at NC State the time I wrote that paper and got an “A” on it with a “Nice Job” written at the bottom. That made me feel good.

I remember how exciting it was when Chuck was introduced at the news conference announcing his hire. I also remember how bitterly disappointed I was at going 3-8. I wasn’t all that excited when Tom Reid was hired and I wasn’t all that disappointed when he left. One explanation of the cause of an upset is the combination of unfulfilled expectation and thwarted intentions. Who amongst us didn’t have unfulfilled expectations and thwarted intentions.

It is better to have loved and lost than not to have loved at all. And so it is with me and Coach Amato.

Daily Update – and at that moment, I was thinking, you know, I’d rather be lucky than good.

I really wanted it to work out for Chuck. I wasn’t thrilled when we hired him, but he won me over in his press conference when he started crying. I thought maybe we had the second coming of Vince Lombardi the way his career started. I remember the feeling walking out of the Gator Bowl. It was an optimistic feeling, but bittersweet. I realized that we had a team that year could have and maybe should have – accomplished so much more.

It’s sad when you have your dream job and it doesn’t work out. That Chuck thinks that he almost had the corner turned doesn’t surprise me. He always was an optimistic guy.
