Pray for Russell Wilson

I don’t care who wins or loses this game anymore. I just want confirmation that he can move his legs (Erin Andrews claims he was moving his feet). If you hear anything, please say so in the comments.

UPDATE: Andrews says they are calling it a concussion. More tests pending.

ESPN said concussion taking him for tests. Looks like it won’t be paralysis.

“He’s in God’s hands and he’s in medical’s hands and now we have to play football.”

Pretty classy remarks from TOB. The more that guy is around here the more I think of him.

    Get well Russell.

This is why we can’t have nice things 🙁 Damnit to hell. Why does it have to happen to a kid that represents State so well?

Prayers go out to him and his family though.

  4. sf59 08/28/2008 at 8:23 PM #

rw is A FIGHTER…lets all lift him up in prayer

  5. McLovin 08/28/2008 at 8:23 PM #

    GAWolf: Ditto. On both statements.

I watched THE ONE LEGAL hit over and over and I think Wilson just got his bell rung, and pretty soundly. The ILLEGAL play before was just as bad also. I don’t think he’s injured more than a concussion and he’ll be sore for a while. If it’s more than that I’ll be very surprised. Either way, this night was not at all good welcome to collegiate football for a very bright and talented kid, let’s all hope he’s OK.

  7. sf59 08/28/2008 at 8:40 PM #

    i agree red

but there were 3 leading w/ the head/ late hits they took on RW.

  8. packville 08/28/2008 at 8:48 PM #

thoughts and prayer with you RW

  9. Astral Rain 08/28/2008 at 9:04 PM #

Just reported, he’s fine. Grade 3 concussion, but otherwise fine, and maybe less then Grade 3.

  10. GAWolf 08/28/2008 at 9:05 PM #

Injury looking less and less serious. Great news.

  11. Scooter 08/28/2008 at 9:24 PM #

Per 101.5, they downgraded the injury from a grade 3 concussion and they didn’t see any neck or spinal injuries.

well the o-line looks good…. thanks alot chuck. really glad you looked out for your guys..
RW is the best looking QB weve had for 5 yrs and he lasted less than a half behind that shoddy o-line. he took 5 nasty hits before the bad one…. he is gone for 3-4 wks fellas. say goodbye to the season and hello to Dannie Evans who is the worst D-1 qb in college f-ball

so does hat mean it is now a grade 1 or grade 2?

    Concussion categories

    Grade 1
The mild concussion occurs when the person does not lose consciousness (pass out) but may seem dazed.

    Grade 2
The slightly more severe form occurs when the person does not lose consciousness but has a period of confusion and does not recall the event.

    Grade 3
The classic concussion, which is the most severe form, occurs when the person loses consciousness for a brief period of time and has no memory of the event. Evaluation from a health-care provider should be performed as soon as possible after the injury.

A concussion can happen to anyone, at any time. The most common causes of concussion include a blow to the head from a motor vehicle crash, fall or assault. People at higher risk are those who have difficulty walking and fall often, those who are active in high impact contact sports and those who are taking blood thinners, such as coumadin. Mild head injury, such as concussion is a frequent cause for hospital admission, with an estimate of more than 600,000 cases per year in the United States.

They are saying that he his alert and is speaking clearly to the people around him. Last I hear, they haven’t said for sure other than that they don’t think it is Grade 3. She’s no doctor, but it was pretty clear that Russell Wilson was unconscious for a while on the grass and was hanging on by a thread on the stretcher. Who knows?

  15. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 10:10 PM #

I don’t see too many wins on the horizon, so is there any way to give the defense a break, while at the same time give the illusion of playing games closer as well giving the illusion of being a competitive D1 program? I guess what I’m really asking is, is there football version of the PO?

  16. Noah 08/28/2008 at 10:16 PM #

He won’t play again for a month (at least).

This could be our first winless football team. If we manage to get two wins this year, it will be a miracle.

  17. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 10:17 PM #

“Unconscious”, maybe, or even probably, but “hanging on by a thread”?

That’s a pretty strong statement there pal.

  18. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 10:20 PM #

Sorry about the PO comment, that was not meant for this thread.

My prayers are with you Russell! Get well soon! We need you man! OK O-LINE… do your JOB and protect our QBs!! One QB out with a concussion, Beck comes in for 3 plays, and his jersey looks like he’s played the entire game, and the bulk of the grass stains are on the back side of his uniform, so what does that tell us, O-LINE? Looks like another year of the defense being on the field the entire game. I think the D looked good in the first half. My only regret is they hurt Beecher – D had his number. How about more than 3 and out, or turnovers, offense. Embarrassing! Isn’t TOB known for O-line recruiting? And what is up with the shotgun snaps? Crucial mistakes at really inopportune times. Ugly! Offense scores a grade of F- (or whatever is below F)!!

  20. b 08/28/2008 at 10:40 PM #

It’s a 4-8, maybe 5-7 football team at best, and that’s ok. A lot of young guys played well on D, and when Evans was our best hope, that’s all she wrote. The O-line needs to look in the mirror on the real, to call their play pathetic would be in insult to pathetic linemen everywhere.

Hopefully Russell will get a chance later on, but a nasty concussion like that will likely linger until at least the ECU game. Thank God it doesn’t seem to be worse, I was heartbroken like the rest of you after that play.

Spurrier is like school on Sundays…….NO CLASS.

  21. EverettBeez 08/28/2008 at 10:50 PM #

    Spurrier truly is classless.
RW, you are in our prayers.

  22. turfpack 08/28/2008 at 10:51 PM #

Guys—TOB is not a miracule worker-the O-line is as bad as one of my old JV teams.
As a football coach you just can’t make chicken salad out of chicken shit.
    1#-Recuiting 2# Experience
We need a lot of both!!!!!
The Defense played petty well over all-until it got tired.
Nate Irving is going to be a beast this year.
TOB didn’t forget how to coach -he needs good players-also with experience.(Yes and that can stay heathy)

  23. Dave McB 08/28/2008 at 10:56 PM #

Felt awful for the kid and sick to my stomach while seeing both teams on their knee in prayer.

Poor guy’s been waiting his whole life for this game.

  24. redfred2 08/28/2008 at 11:33 PM #

I hate to say it, but I think maybe a freshman, two sport, athlete’s foundation may have been shaken in his very first appearance tonight. To what degree, we’ll just have to wait and see.

  25. Ismael 08/29/2008 at 12:16 AM #

it was obvious from the get-go that SC was headhunting. His very first scramble and slide he took a forearm shiver going across the ground and the other one you guys obviously saw right before the concussion.

The O-Line…i might have to watch the game again, but we had two running backs who ran the ball really well. There’s NOTHING WRONG with Andre Brown. Underwood had some nice runs too where he popped some people coming up to make contact. But to have a guy rush for right at or over 100 yards, the OLine was doing something right.

And seriously guys…we all down deep expected this – don’t lie. And we were sitting in disbelief when the PACK was marching down the field with 4-5 yard carries on first down, 4 interceptions, bone jarring defensive hits that kept them from having any running game. I was pleasantly surprised.

    Then the concussion…

When DE came in…every single f’ing pass he threw looks like the kind you throw to your son, no, your daughter, when you are trying to teach them how to catch. Then what should have been a pick-6. I know that TJ Graham should have caught that one pass, but when DE released that ball, TJ had the vaunted SC corner beaten by three strides. Underthrew him, no surprise there, but you can see where i am leading myself…into a season of irrational hope.

So if we can get some pass-blocking and RW back…i actually think we’ll be in good shape.

The problem, on second thought, is that i don’t know if SC is just that bad at run-D or we’re somehow good at it. They were one of the worst in the country last year, but its a new year, new coordinator etc.
