I’ll let you guys comment about the revenue sports, since you are the experts on that matter. But let me tell you about the two non-revenue sports that I can talk about with some knowledge, (I practiced them both) soccer and swimming.

A .182 record in M soccer is just ridiculous. I have graduated in 2006 and has followed the team until last year (I had some friends in the team during my school years), and they absolutely sucked. From good sources I know that most players hate Tarantini, the way he behaves with them, and the way he makes them play. Believe me, I have watched a LOT of soccer in my life (I am from Argentina), and NC State was one of the worst I’ve ever seen. Tactics-wise, Tarantini knows nothing. He might have sold us in the past that he is from Argentina, his brother played and won a World Cup, but that doesn’t make him a good coach. He may be a good recruiter though, his 2005 team had a lot of talent, but they didn’t accomplish anything more than a couple of NCAA selections (which finished in a 2nd round loss the most). I can’t understand how he can be a coach.

About swimming, remember that it is an individual sport for the most part. I wouldn’t compare its ACC record the same way you do with team sports. Also, we had a NCAA champion and world record holder a couple of years back, Cullen Jones. I understand that the coach hasn’t been around for a long time, and that the team is improving. Let’s see what happens in the next couple of years.

    Facts do not lie…….

I hope the wolfpack nation sees these figures and the reaction is towards our AD…..

Time for change and the only place we have to go is UP.

    – Behind the scenes of the Chancellor’s ‘Excellence Awards’ nominations –

    Chancellor [statusqu]Oblinger –
“This is INCREDIBLE! Just look at these stats! Not only does Lee help make us a ton of money from “athletics functions” but he makes sure we don’t even have to be competitive! I HATE athletics, but they make us a LOT of money. With stats like these though, we can just keep raking in money for a few more years until our athletics programs die out from fan apathy and no funding.”

“By then though, we’ll have our University in good position to become the worlds largest commuter University and we’ll get all the funding we need through new enrollments each semester. It’s perfect! We can keep making money off of people’s beloved ‘athletics’ and then watch their programs die a slow, agonizing death. No more atheletics programs at NC State EVARRRRRR! ACADEMIA WILL RULE!! SPORTS WILL DIEEEEE! … This sounds like an ‘Excellence Award’ nomination should go Mr. Fowler’s way – what does the Nominations Committee think?”

Snobby professor w/ bad moustache who thinks sports are a detriment to society –
“I concur. Anything that will help lead to the riddance of the scourge of this academic institution is a great idea to me. The affliction of ‘sports’ will no longer have a place here!”

Feminazi professor who thinks sports unfairly exploit women –
“YESSS! Finally we will watch these men suffer as their beloved athletics programs go away! These men will at last get their comeuppance! The world of men will DI … – ohhhh, wait … Not yet.”

Ultra-liberal professor who thinks sports are unfair to people who can’t play them well –
“At last, these “jocks” will feel the sting of denial. No more unfair advantages for you, sir! Now YOU can just sit on the sideline like everyone else! THANKS LEE!!!”

Lee Fowler, AD – NC State University –
“Well, gee – thanks guys! I’ve been putting in a lot of hard work making sure we’ve all got money and facilities. In fact, I just came from a “facilities study” – I was studying how the golf course near my house on the lake measures up as a facility. Sidney and the bball staff were there. We did some great facility research! By the way, we need to discuss raises for the bball staff when you have a free moment. Anyway, I’m honored to be considered for a Chancellor’s award of Excellence. I didn’t know I had it in me. Looks like I can finally have the last laugh against all those evil-doers on those dang interwebs. God bless! Go Pack!”

“Ohh, before I forget – Jim, we’re having a big ‘By the Lake Luau’ tommorow at my lakehouse. Everyone’s invited! Now sure, I know it’s a workday Wednesday, but we’re SOO close to the weekend that we couldn’t wait! Money from our fans is going to pay for everything – so no worries there. It’s going to be an open bar and all the coaches and I are going to strategize on how to beat Chapel Hill … or not. Losing to them in a humiliating fashion in almost every sport isn’t so bad … at least it’s a sister institution! We can’t compete with them anyway – I don’t know what peyote these fans are a smokin’! God bless! Go Pack!”

There is an interview with Jed on Packpride with the typically pathetic non answers.

    Noah, you’re correct.
i would like to add that the
    euphemism: “personal fouls” era,
is not yet dead. the APR got us.

I have been complaining about mens soccer (on the old boards as “PamPack”, “89Grad” and “GiantPulsatingEvilPack” , amont other noms de plume)since at least 1998, and continue to be convinced more than ever that Tarantini has incriminating photos of someone on the Board of Trustees having carnal relations with a goat, because nothing else can possibly explain the baffling retention of this incompetent year after year after year. This guy makes Inspector Clouseau look like Elliot Ness…we’ve had repeated testimony from a variety of sources that, not only is Tarantini the laughingstock of the ACC, but also of UNC-W, UNC-G, High Point College, and ECU, all of whom have defeated us in mens soccer over the last five years…

    Good stuff up there wolfpup!

Classof89, I’m not close to the soccer program at all, but who would you think is capable of firing Tarantini? They can’t, and won’t, fire a single soul for incompetence. What would they say to him anyway? “Hey you, come here a minute. Look we’ve heard a few things about you and we’ve had our eye’s on you for awhile now. We’re also getting complaints from our own fans. The fact is that you are performing your job duties at NC State in exactly the same fashion, and with the same results as your superiors. So, what I’m trying to say Coach, is that, uh, er well,…YOU’RE FIRED!!! So pack your things and get the hell out.”

They are way too smart for that. That would only intensify the light that’s shining on their own poor performances.

    Birds of a feather.
