UF’s Donovan to the NBA

Donovan is leaving his Gator dynasty to chase the riches (and ego challenge) of the NBA. The dominoes could be very interesting. ESPN’s Pat Forde details the litany of failures that precede Billy’s quest.

In other miscellaneous news, Sid’s buddy Sheed is headed to double overtime.

We should have an official “Rodney Monroe You Tube day” at some point during the slow season for ACC blogging.

Which was the game (think against UNC?) where Monroe got creamed on a breakaway (believe an intentional/flagrant foul was called), then laid calmly on his back as the shot he amazingly got off bounced around the rim forever, then went in. Naturally, Rodney did his version of going berzerk – i.e., nonchalant fist pump.

UVA, GT, and Iowa were the signature Rodney Monroe games, but that is the quintissential “Ice” moment, IMHO.

noah, didn’t you say you had a copy of the ’83 WF game in Reynolds?

“any chance billy d picks up one of his gators who will be in the draft?”

Possibly Green, but none of the others unless they make a trade, because Orlando doesn’t have a pick until late 2nd round, by which time Horford, Noah and Brewer will be long gone.

Guess I don’t blame him. After loosing EVERYBODY, it could be a long winter in Gainsville. Yes, they have what some call the #1 class comming in, but with all those frosh, it’s a rebuilding year, not reloading. They aren’t the Fab 5.

Somewhere. On Beta. I’ll try and dig for it.

The pressure of following in Norm Sloan’s shadow at UF was just too much for Donovan to handle.

Cool. Can you convert to VHS or DVD? I can convert VHS to DVD, but I don’t have Beta. I have the GT game on an old VHS.

    1) I can’t convert to DVD.
    2) I am not entirely positive I can find the videotape. I think I know where to start looking though.

Then if I find it…there’s the matter of finding a beta machine. I wonder if Audio Buys over in Five Points could do it?

One other tape question. I have the 1988 State-UNC game on VHS. In fact, it’s sitting right here in front of me. THis is the 48-3 game. All kinds of fun. But the beginning of the tape came loose from the little spool or sprocket that winds the tape. Anyone know where you can get something like that fixed?

noah, there are lots of places popping up that can fix that tape for you. They mostly specialize in work for guys like us with sports videos who want to convert to DVD. PLEASE get that tape fixed before it gets too bad to use. After 10 years VHS starts to go down really fast (at least mine did)

Somebody please take that old stuff, convert it to DVD, and send a copy special delivery to the SID. I don’t know if they had a break in at about the same time they shut down the Dream Room and all of their archives were either stolen or erased, but I just glanced back over last season’s basketball program, and those folks could definitely use some new sources of inspiration from some .
