Pack to Play in Columbia

NC State’s 2007 Baseball team will make its NCAA Tournament appearance in Columbia, South Carolina at the home of the beloved former leader of the Pack, Ray Tanner. You can click here to see some information regarding local baseball teams of interest.

Despite not qualifying for the ACC Tournament’s 8 team field until the last week of the season, the Wolfpack finished the year rated amongst the Top 20 teams in America in the baseball RPI. (Obviously indicating just how difficult the league’s baseball environment is).

S6 first ran a little bit on baseball here and followed it up with more on UNCC here.

Related – Columbia still considered ACC territory to many.

It has been 15 years since the University of South Carolina joined the SEC and 36 years since it left the ACC. Yet, the Columbia television market is still considered prime ACC territory by some people.

Go Pack, tough place to play and a tough team.

This is a baseball thread, not sure where else to post. WHO THOUGHT UP THIS LATEST TOURNAMENT FORMAT????? That has to be by far the worst ever. Some UNX scrub probably.

Not sure who follows this thing closely, but the Pack was officially eliminated before they played their 2nd game. The old double elimination tourney was very exciting, and there was always a team that would lose early, fight and scrap their way back, run out of pitchers, and try to figure out how to bring it all together for one final game. That was a fun tourney. The only thing I can figure is they are trying to keep pitchers healthy for the NCAA’s. Please Mr. Swofford, get rid of this format. Mever mind, UNX won the stupid thing, the format is perfect, let’s keep it for the next 30 years.

I wonder when Brack is scheduled to pitch again, it’s been awhile.

I suspect the result will be the same as in all Avent coached teams. Make it to the NCAA and then a quick exit. I am sure LF is just happy we make the NCAAs.
