Couldn’t Resist

Sorry…but, I couldn’t resist linking this blog entry and highlighting the comments of SEC Newcomer of the year, Patrick Beverley:

“When I signed my letter of intent to play for Arkansas, I didn’t sign to play for any particular coach. “I signed to play for the University of Arkansas.”

I think that I have a new favorite SEC player to follow.

Good kid. I guess football egos are smaller than basketball egos. There is no “i” in Beasley

  2. branjawn 04/10/2007 at 3:08 PM #

It’s Patrick Beverly, not Beasley. And he is a basketball player.

  3. StateFans 04/10/2007 at 3:18 PM #

^ How funny is that? Guess who I have on my mind?

  4. branjawn 04/10/2007 at 3:19 PM #

I’m not calling you out BoKnows, the original post up there had P. Beasley too. I knew that didn’t sound right though and looked it up. They must have corrected since.

  5. ChuckAllYall 04/10/2007 at 3:22 PM #

There’s no “i” in Beverly either.

Freudian slip, State Fans…..but indeed one that would be nice if it came to fruition.

SFN, since you are reading this obviously, any plans to add permanent threads in the future. for example, I live in NY now (suckage) and would like to coordinate with other State fans going to any games up in NE (BC, MSG, etc). Also, I might go to some Phillies or Indians games, and likewise would be interested in finding some fellow Pack-ers to go with. I know it’s not good to talk about stuff like that on a normal thread, so if there were something like that it’d be nice. Thanks for your time. Please delete this post after reading since no one else prob wants it taking up space.

since we are on the typos front… i think his name is spelled Beverley…. with an extra e…. but who really cares… not nitpicking SFN, just observing. i wish someone would have told LEE this last year when he was bending over so all of our recruits could slide it in his rear a little easier.

^Thanks for that disturbing mental image….

This recruit above going to UA sounds alot like a guy named Dennis Horner here at State.

  11. MadWolf92 04/10/2007 at 3:55 PM #

Except that there *is* an “i” in “Dennis”…

I do in fact think it’s an easier decision to stay at a school once you’ve completed your freshman year (like Beverely) and the coach leaves as opposed to an incoming freshman with no real “school ties” to a place yet.

    sorry cosmo.

I didn’t see it on any threads, has anyone posted on here that we will be participating in the 2007 Old Spice Classic in Orlando, Florida, over Thanksgiving weekend? The field will include NC State, Central Florida, George Mason, Kansas State, Penn State, Rider, South Carolina and Villanova.

  15. packbackr04 04/10/2007 at 4:25 PM #

i would rather play and beat USC in that field. you mean we are going to play in a legitamate early season tourny????? well that stinks. i wanted to beat up on wofford and elizabeth city state…. not to mention our big game IN G-vegas…….

  16. PapaJohn 04/10/2007 at 4:36 PM #

    ^ Agreed!
Finally, a legitimate tourney! Now, when can we get in line for the preseason NIT?

I just want to know what the hell it will take for us to be in the Jimmy V Invitational. It’s not liek we don”t have any connection to it or anything…..

  18. packpigskinfan23 04/10/2007 at 5:00 PM #

I sincerly hope at least the Kay Yow’s ladies get a chance at the JimmyV soon!!! I mean, DAMN!!! how much has Kay Yow done for cancer!?!?!?!?!

it is great to hear we will be in a tourney with such great opponents. I know it wont silence all the ECU anger… but it does make it at least a bit less mind wrenching. Playing them IN Greenville is the dumbest thing I have ever heard though.

Well, i hope all 12 people in Ficklen have fun.

Wow, thanks for the info! thanksgiving weekend, hmmm. Thats usually one of the weekends of the year that I am back in N.C. If I stay in FLA this year, I will for sure be there.

On a similar note to what we as fans like to see/hear in athletes:
“You can excuse linebacker Christian Robinson of Greater Atlanta Christian High in Norcross, Ga., of being a bit tired these days, but it has nothing to do with football. Robinson was in Africa for about 10 days.

“It was fun,” Robinson said. “I actually got back this weekend. We went over on a mission to help build a house. I have not yet got over the jet lag. I just got back Saturday so I’m still a little tired.”

Robinson, 6-foot-3, 200 pounds, figures to be one of the more heralded linebacker prospects in the state of Georgia. NC State offered him a couple of weeks ago, and his most recent offers have come from South Carolina and Georgia. -Rivals.com 04/10/07

Trying to get things back on topic…

Hey, I think the kid is great and all, and everybody knows that the university itself is critical in regards to decision making. OTOH, can you imagine if you signed a LOI to a play ball at a university and the coach all the sudden changed from, oh, say Sidney Lowe, to oh, say Herb Sendeck? I mean a major change in personality as well as coaching philosophy?

I can’t blame someone for wanting to change colleges under those circumstances. A coaching change means the whole college experience will change for a kid, often for the worse. I really don’t have a problem with any kid not fulfilling their LOI under these circumstances.

    Off topic:

It looks like Hansbrough and Lawson are returning as expected.
I’m not too worried about it. IMO UNC still got worse just by graduation. Now if they lose Wright they’ll be in a little worse shape than last year with no recruits coming in. The fact that we beat them with that team and that we’re getting better and they’re getting worse allows me to sleep easy at night.

    Sorry for the thread hijack.

For most individuals borrowing cash isn’t the way in which they would choose to go IF they had a option; for individuals with poor credit it is a double nightmare. It can require an excellent deal of paperwork and turn into an embarrassing scenario. Thus, consumers prefer payday loans to face little, unanticipated expenses whilst avoiding costly bounced-check charges and overdue payment penalties., mark bogen, ckw, mark bogen, 506776,
