ACC’s NFL Draft Picks & 1st Rounders

An interesting table of information available in this link. The information just adds to anyone who wants another reason to criticize Chuck Amato or John Bunting. But, why bother at this point?

Q: The most impressive coaching jobs of the last five years in the ACC?

A: Tom O’Brien and Chan Gailey.

Not even close.

Over the entirety of 5 years….I think TOB and Gailey have been more consistently impressive.

I guess it depends. In my perspective, Grobe has built this team over the last five years, so it was the coaching over the first several that led to this team.

Why not just look at every active player in the NFL and the school he came from? Then figure out the % that were first rounders. If it’s higher than 50% then it means something. If it’s lower — then maybe not. Would be a curious statistic.

I think what I mean to say is:

    1. What percentage of active NFL players were first round picks?
    2. Of all the active NFL players — which schools did most of them come from?
    3. Does the home school’s presence of more players also coincide with the home school’s success? (not sure what success means e.g. Nat. Champs, top 5, top 10, etc.).
    4. Does this really resolve anything?
