John Hannah Signs with CTC @ FSU? Maybe Not

I really don’t care about this situation anymore. The back and forth and back and forth is like Schea Cotton and Brent Schaeffer rolled into one. But, I know that it is a topic that other Wolfpackers have followed closely and thought that we would link up.

After the school reported that Johnathan Hannah had signed with FSU…we hear today that isn’t necessarily case.

We have no inside info…and don’t have the time or desire to track down a bunch of stuff on this. We hope that the Wolfpack gets him.

The more he vacillated, the more he reminded me of Brent Schaeffer. I’m sure he’s very talented, but there’s more to winning than just talent. He raised too many “stroke my ego” flags for my liking.

    Ain’t that right, T.A.?

looking at his appearance I do not believe he was up to the discipline and standards of our new coach. He would be suited hanging out on the corner in Durham. I doubt Coach is to upset.

Yep – I think TOB and this guy would have worked out as well as Ray Brooks and TOB did.

Honestly, we have had enough head aches (head cases) over the last couple of years so no huge loss in my book.

I guess we all know that F$U is known for its ability to putting out great TEs like Jeremy Shockey, Kellen Winslow, & Bubba Franks…oh wait…that was Miami.

It was Ben Troupe and Enron Kinney that F$U developed for the NF…oh wait…that was Florida.

    Oh nevermind…good luck Hannah.

Folks, Jon Hannah’s father played at and has a degree from NC State.

Although I doubt he frequents this site, it is a shame that some people denigrate his son for choosing to go elsewhere. Lets congratulate him and wish him well–you know, take the high road.

Looks like Hill will be playing TE and not T after all. Oh well, he’s a huge target so lets hope the new offense really helps him in being more consistent.

His relationship was with Chuck…. I don’t have a problem with him following CTC to FSU. I wish him well. I also agree, however, that we will be fine without him and in fact might be better off without him.

PP says that he hasn’t decided. Has that changed?

  9. Lunatic Fringe 02/07/2007 at 11:34 PM #

NC State fans waited on pins and needles the first time Hannah was looking for a school only to watch him go to SC on signing day and many thought it was not a great fit for him at that time. F$U does not appear to be a great fit for him either unless he is looking to become an OT.

I wish no ill will toward him and hopefully he makes the best choice for himself, but I personally want guys who want to be at NC State.

Seems to me that Tight Ends are not featured players in Steve Spurrier’s offense so not shocked Hannah left SC. The shocker to me is Saunders signing with SC thinking he’ll get the ball as a Tight End.

Saunders can make a lot more money as def. end.

A TE going to FSU makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. That said, Hannah hasn’t signed with FSU. Yet.

I really don’t care where he goes.

Anyone this indecisive is not what you want on your football team. Let the young man go wherever the latest wind blows and wish him the best of luck.

David Thompson vacillated all over the place before finally deciding to run with the Pack. Hannah is no David Thompson but this is part of the recruiting game. Maybe he hasn’t handled the situation that well but I’m willing to give him some slack.

I don’t know how the kids at the highest level get through the recruiting process with any sense of perspective.

If Soft Verbal does not want to play here — so be it.

its not official yet..his father has not signed the papers

  16. noah 02/08/2007 at 9:22 AM #

His father doesn’t have to sign the papers, does he? Surely, Hannah is over 18 by NOW.

And changing your mind is fine. I’m sure every recruit does it a hundred times. But that’s why they call it “undecided” and “uncommitted.”

  17. Dan 02/08/2007 at 9:33 AM #

Ant Hill still has two years remaining. All Hannah has left is two years. It isnt going to make or break NC State.

FSU has a stud freshman TE, and uses the TE position way less than a TOB team does.

I dont know what Hannah is thinking. He should have found a team that really needs a TE.

    LAW SCHOOL EXAM QUESTION:

If a ficticious 19 year-old named Jon Barbara, a football recruit who has given a “soft verbal commitment” to a ficticious school Free Shoes University, cashes a check from FSU, does that mean he’s received enough consideration to be bound by his verbal contract?

If he is deemed bound to the contract and breaches the same, what relief is available to FSU for the breach assuming they fail to mitigate their damages by offering a car to another recruit to fill the void left by the breaching party?

  19. noah 02/08/2007 at 10:05 AM #

Hannah has three years of eligibility left. He’s at the end of year two in a five-year window.

  20. Dan 02/08/2007 at 10:20 AM #

Hannah is a JC transfer. I am pretty sure that means two years.

Maybe he has a redshirt year, but I dont think so.

  21. RickJ 02/08/2007 at 10:26 AM #

^Dan – Noah is correct. Hannah has 3 years left and Anthony Hill only has one year left. We need this guy.

  22. Dan 02/08/2007 at 10:31 AM #

You guys may be right, but Hannah played one year at USC and 1 year at JC. That is two years down. That only leaves two years. Now maybe its 3 to play 2, but no way can he play for three unless he got a medical redshirt at USC. Did he get a med redshirt?

You guys are right on Ant. Pack Pride has him listed as a Sophmore. My bad.

  23. noah 02/08/2007 at 11:25 AM #

I don’t think Hannah played last year.

FWIW, Jeff Ruiz is a JUCO transfer and he has three years to play three. He will be a sophomore for us next year.

  24. BoKnowsNCS71 02/09/2007 at 9:18 AM #

It’s official. Hannah waited until the day after signing day and committed to FSU.
