Jim Valvano’s Room of Dreams

Found linked at PackPride, this video is inspirational. It’s awesome. (And you’ll also see future Wolfpack head coach Sidney Lowe and assistant coach Monty Towe in there.)

Dreams come true at NC State. Dreams become reality at NC State. Are you a dreamer? Do you have dreams that you can make come true? Can you accept that challenge? I think you can. Remember, a wise man once said, “Nothing can happen if not first a dream.”

i got a chance to be in the room one time when they played the program—the voice over on the championship game was either wally ausley or gary dornberg—calling the winning basket by the recruits name hitting the game winner—against unc—in the ncaa finals—made you want to chew nails and play some defense—v was among the first to have the jersey with the recruits name on the back—draped over the chair for the visit—at half court—sop for all programs today—love him or hate him—he was a bright, innovative, charismatic coach who could get the most out of his team most of the time—-watching sid is kinda like watching a portion of v and a portion of coach wooten from dematha—not a bad mix—-go pack—ps—legacyman is on target—ncaa prohibits the jersey deal now—fairly recent change

Looking at Valvano in that clip really reminds me of what the NCSU administration is not, has not been, and was not for him.

If ever I see the name “Valvano” authorized and boldly attached to anything of real importance (RBC maybe?), then I will begin to believe that not only can we get back there, but there’s also a good chance that we just might be sticking around for a while.

And some people ask me why I say that Jim Valvano was the greatest salesman this university has ever had. If that little piece of tape is not evidence enough then you just don’t get it!

Heck, I think they should show THAT Video before the game today. Eventually, Sid could add a spot to the end, but geeze, that was AWESOME.

And I totally agree with comments up until now… Folks in the administration act like they want to downplay NCSU’s history – exactly the opposite of this clip.

Man, was V awesome or what?

Classic Valvano. James T. Valvano was a dreamer and a workaholic that made great things happen and he was the best floor coach I have ever seen.
If Sidney Lowe and Monte Towe can together produce the Valvano dream we will hang another banner.
I for one believe it can happen.

    Go Pack
