speaking of bowls, did anyone see the FSU defensive player dive into the endzone last night during their football game? No penalty for that guy, but I seem to remember Blackman getting a penalty for doing the exact same thing last season. It just pissed me off and I wanted to say it.

I’d love to see a bowl game thoughts thread.

Here are my random quick thoughts:
    1) FSU looked like the old FSU in the 2nd half of the game vs. UCLA. I was watching that game wondering how they lost 6 games this year. Go figure, you throw it up to a 6-6 receiver 3 times in the end zone, he’ll make at least one TD catch.

    2) Pac 10 is winless thus far in the bowl season (0-3). They have some favorable match-ups coming up but could easily end up 1-5 or even 0-6. Thank God, USC didn’t beat UCLA…because it would be real interesting to hear the chatter if USC was playing Ohio State w/ the Pac-10 off to a winless start. (And let’s face it, these first 3 wins weren’t exactly against Titans -Hawaii, BYU and an FSU team that didn’t win a game in the Atlantic division.)

    3) Last night’s bowl game was the only one still really in doubt in the 4th quarter. But the big-time bowl games are getting ready to hit high gear, so look for some good stuff.

big wood — I’ve seen that dive play numerous times in games on TV or in replays — with no flag thrown. I really believe that the refs had it in for CTC and/or we fans at CF who boo their horrible (and nationally recognized) calls.

^ Blackman was flagged for it TWICE this season – both times he did it.

But I will be the first to admit that, after the first one, if he’s not coached or disciplined enough to not do it again, there’s a massive problem. And therein lies the best example of the need for the coaching change.

I read that TOB had a sign in his locker room that says “Penalties lose games” and that players who don’t attempt to correct their problems — don’t play. Maybe that will sink in here?

Someone cited that BC had one less penalty than the Pack. However, the W-L record at BC is a heck of a lot better than ours. Maybe if TOB can just stop them from committing game or comeback killing penalties?

Coach O says he will put the same signage up here, and have the same philosophy regarding silly penalties.

“Silly” is the key word. Fifteen yards for losing self-control loses games, and I suspect those will come to a screeching halt.

Bottom line is that NC State doesn’t have so much talent that they can squander field position or give extra downs and win the important games that separate the very good from the also-rans.
