ACC Bowl Line-Up

The Pack isn’t in a bowl this year, but we are still interested in the ACC’s bowl line-up for the year.

Orange: Wake Forest vs. Louisville
Chick-fil-A: Virginia Tech vs. Georgia
Gator: Georgia Tech vs. West Virginia
Meineke: Boston College vs. Navy
Champs: Maryland vs. Purdue
Music City: Clemson vs. Kentucky
Emerald: Florida State vs. UCLA
MPC Computers: Miami vs. Nevada

You can click here for a full list of all of this season’s bowl games.

The ACC was most definitely down this year after three consecutive years of being ranked as the nation’s #1 or #2 football conference in the Sagarin computer (2005 = #2; 2004 = #1; 2003 – #1). We were hoping for favorable bowl match-ups to help the conference reclaim some positive attention for the year; but these match-ups are pretty difficult straight down the board.

For fun – flashback to last year. Scroll down the page and pick on some entries to remember related to last year’s bowl appearance by the Wolfpack.

Maybe if state hires paul johnson he can receive a warm welcome in charlotte

I know we played worse than they did, but Miami in Boise cracks me up. Ten below and windblown snow on Christmas Eve would be a fitting end to the dynasty.

I’m a little surprised that GT is going back to J-ville and VT gets the Peach.

Woof, for once I agree with you. Pray for a blizzard, yeah?

I would like to see Navy beat BC. If our coaching search drags out then at least a win vs. an ACC opponnet should take away the whole “gimmick offense” debate.

It will be interesting to see how Wake handles the ‘Villes offense. The ACC doesn’t really have ANY good offenses – it will be the best one that Wake has faced all year – by a long shot. (Note that the other 2 decent offenses they faced were Clemson and VaTech.)

I didn’t expect Cal to go as low as the Holiday Bowl. Sheesh.

I predict a 4-4 bowl season for the ACC, which reinforces this was a weak year (although it could be worse).

San Diego is a very nice place to visit so the Holiday Bowl is a good bowl. Outside of the BCS it’s one of the best bowls along with the Gator, Cotton and Peach.

Interesting to me is that Boston College again takes one in the midsection. Maryland & Clemson both lost to BC and finished 8 – 4 to BC’s 9 – 3 but both ended up in better bowls and better opponents (not better teams mind you). This is going to be a continuing challenge for the ACC.

    ^^ I didn’t know that Joe, thanks.

Woof Wolf, I hope that UM isn’t gone forever as a FB power as that certainly would drag down the overall strength of the ACC.
