Good board! I don’t exactly how to say this, but it seems Johnson’s are becoming center of attention around here.

  2. packbackr04 11/03/2006 at 9:39 AM #

fred^ johnsons have always ben the center of attention at my house!

  3. richdail 11/03/2006 at 9:41 AM #

    Is this photoshopped?

Either way, I don’t get the reference to JOHNSONS.

  4. redfred2 11/03/2006 at 9:46 AM #

    richdail

Everything, is in some way, referenced to a Johnson.

Last night they put a stat on the screen that Petrino’s teams are +20-something in turnover margin throughout his tenure at Louisville. Can one of you stat guys show me what Amato’s teams are for his tenure? The curiousity has been killing me since I saw that stat pop up.

    Thanks.

I’m only popping my head in for one thing bitch about.

Apparently there is an exhibition game tonight at the RBC Center, yet THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NOTHING ON THE GOPACK FRONT PAGE ABOUT IT!!!!!

WHAT IN THE HELL IS GOING ON?

    I’m out.

GA – I think we were actually really good in that department year 1. I think we were OK year 2, and probably year 3 (although that’s when Fumble Anytime started getting carries), since then, it’s been all downhill.

    Dan

Where have you been? I agree with your frustration.

all the imagination, the build up, the anticipation, what a send off so far

Hasn’t this athletic department just absolutely whipped us all into a frenzy about this new course we’re heading into in basketball RIGHT NOW???

IT IS RIGHT NOW isn’t it, and it will never happen again for these coaches.

^Just another day at the office for this bunch of……………….

  10. Woof Wolf 11/03/2006 at 10:37 AM #

They are working on the story. It will be up on Monday.

  11. redfred2 11/03/2006 at 10:45 AM #

    Woof, so true.

Based on the athletic dept’s/SID world wind media blitz, I’m glad I am a diehard with at least a limited imagination, if I wasn’t and hadn’t been digging around on my own, I’d still be expecting to see Herb sitting over on the bench this season.

    I’m EXCITED AS HELL anyway!!!

    Turnover margin in Amato Era:

    2000: +4
    2001: +10
    2002: +7
    2003: +2
    2004: -17
    2005: 0
    2006: -10

    Total: -4

this just in!!!!! the reason there has been no announcement of the bball game tonight is because… a hungover Lee Fowler just arrived at the office. he overslept because of the freakish voyeur sex party he held at his house last night.

  14. redfred2 11/03/2006 at 11:18 AM #

Dan got me started, but I’m going ride this one into ground.

I’m pretty familiar with Kay Yow already, you know. She’s pretty much an institution in Raleigh there, isn’t she.

But, who exactly, is the second fiddle, the new guy?

With all the excitement and news absolutely surging out of Raleigh about this whole new direction for the basketball program, I’m beginning to second guess every thought I had over the past decade. Herb Sendek may have been a laugh a minute, who really knows for sure?

  15. choppack1 11/03/2006 at 11:42 AM #

Akula – Thanks for that – excellent stuff. We have a pretty pisspour TO ratio w/out Rivers and Terrence Holt!

  16. Woof Wolf 11/03/2006 at 11:42 AM #

The really scary thing about the turnover stats is that he was +23 his first four years and is -27 for the last two plus years.

  17. PackGirl 11/03/2006 at 11:43 AM #

I am a little worried about tonight’s exhibition game (should I be?). According to the N&O, Atsur may not play. They also said this:

“The Wolfpack plays its first preseason exhibition game under coach Sidney Lowe and it could be a test. Northern State, a Division II school in Aberdeen, S.D., finished 27-6 last season and returns three starters. The Wolves, from the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference, played their first exhibition Wednesday at Vanderbilt, losing 98-94 as 6-foot-6 junior Levi Hamilton scored 19 points.”

hmmmmm……positive or even TO margin, we bowled. Sounds about right to me. We probably need to go +10 in the TO margin the last 4 games to win 3 of 4.

  19. redfred2 11/03/2006 at 12:03 PM #

    PackGirl

May be a struggle, it’s the first time out with admittedly limited talent, esp. missing Atsur. But it is nothing to worried about either way, even if it is a disaster. Though, I do not believe that will be the case.

I think the folks there will get a slight taste of the future of Wolfpack BB. I hope those words don’t come back to bite over just this one game though.

Day one, square one, within reason, there will be nothing an upward movement from here on out. This team will improve, and keep on improving, every week and every season from here on out.

If you aren’t already familiar with Sidney Lowe, just hang on early. He has everything it takes to bring this thing around.

  20. redfred2 11/03/2006 at 12:17 PM #

Penalties/turnovers come from confusion or indecision on offense. Or they are created by all out aggression by the defense.

I wonder why we have a negative turnover margin?

  21. Mr O 11/03/2006 at 12:32 PM #

It would be even more interesting to see how that breaks down in takeaways vs giveaways.

Our TO margin is the PRIMARY reason of our struggles in River’s left.

  22. Mr O 11/03/2006 at 12:33 PM #

Should have read “since Rivers left.”

  23. Clarksa 11/03/2006 at 12:47 PM #

^it was also our primary struggle when Rivers was here in games against Maryland.

  24. choppack1 11/03/2006 at 12:48 PM #

O – I would be tempted to agree, but against UVa, we only had one TO and that was the last drive of the day. In general, you’re right.

I do love the colber repor board thing, but serious what are Johnsons? I’m in PA and need enlightenment.
