Week 12 Poll

Winning really isn’t everything.

How many teams could squeak by 5-6 Wyoming by 7, get out-gained by (4-6) Idaho, post a come from behind fourth quarter win by 3 over San Jose St. and still be ranked in the top 15? In addition, this team has played only two other teams who have won more than 3 games, yet they are closing in on a BCS berth. You guessed it… Boise St.

The BCS now has spots for 10 teams. The six BCS conferences will obviously secure spots as likely will Notre Dame. That leaves three “at large spots. The Big 10 between Wisconsin and the loser of OSU/Michigan should get a second spot. The SEC almost certainly will get a second spot. The remaining spot will come down to Boise St., a second Big East, Pac 10, ACC, or Big 12 team, or a third SEC team (if that’s allowed under the BCS rules). Has Boise St. really done anything to merit a BCS spot? Is just winning, especially if you’re barely winning against bad teams, enough?

Overall, things are starting to take shape while even more will be learned this weekend.

Could Wake get an at large spot if they win out and lose the ACC Title game, seems possible if they are impressive.

I say no way wake gets an at large BCS bid if they lose the ACC championship game. How can you justify 2 ACC teams when the league is the weakest it has been in a while. Look at this:

    Big East – 1 automatic Rutgers/WVU/Louisville
ACC – 1 automatic GT (if wake loses in championship)
SEC – 1 automatic UF or Ark?
Big Ten – 1 automatic OSU or MICH
    Pac-10 – 1 automatic USC
    Big 12 – 1 automatic Neb/OU/UT
    At large – Probably ND
at large – OSU or MICH whoever loses
    at large – SEC – ARK,UF,or LSU
    at large – ??

I really think that last spot will go to another Big East team. That league has had two top 10 teams all year and could have three at the time the selection is made. If it comes down to Wake or WVU, I think it is plain to see WVU will be picked. They will travel much better and make the bowl more $$. Or all of this could be out the window if Boise runs the table and everyone feels sorry for the little guy.

Wake Forest ranked over California? Nonsense.

i still think Notre Dame is overrated. they have not impressed me all year, and should have been beat by mich st. but yer prob right, they will def. get an at large if they win out

I still like Wisconsin. They will win out and be 10-1 with the only loss to Michigan. If Michigan wins I think the big 10 gets. If OSU wins I think Michigan is out and the Big 10 only gets 1. Personally the Big 10 should get 3. But so should the SEC. Big east only 1. Notre Dame Should not get one. Hopefully So Cal will lose this weekend. That would help a lot.

No way Wisconsin gets in over Michigan or OSU. Michigan beat Wisconsin. Wisconsin’s opponents are a combined 15 games under .500. Both OSU and Michigan’s opponents are over .500, even though OSU’s schedule has not been as strong.

Wisconsin has NO chance at the BCS.

Wisconsin has NO chance at the BCS.

Wisconsin has NO chance at the BCS.

Wisconsin has NO chance at the BCS.

Only 2 teams from a conference can be in the BCS. In the Big 11, it will be Michigan (as conference champ) and OSU (as at-large team).
